24.01.2022 BELLINGEN SHOTOKAN KARATE July 2020 Restarting KARATE CLASSES ... Hi Karateka & extended families, As you know I had to regretfully cancel the last three Karate classes of Term 1, and all of Term 2 due to COVID19 concerns. The Church hall is tentatively allowing hiring again for term 3, dependant on no increased Covid risks arising. So I am seeking your feedback on who is prepared to attend, or have their children attend classes starting on the 22nd July. I have prepared a COVID Plan, which would entail following social distancing rules, i.e. no contact or bag work, and hand sanitiser being available, and not allowing more than four parent /carers in the foyer at a time. For those who had paid for Term 1, I will be giving a $30 discount of Term 3 fees if we proceed. If you want to discuss anything feel free to call or email/messenger me. 12.01.2022 Dear Karateka & families, Thank you for responding to my request for those prepared for starting Karate classes for Term 3. Whilst the numbers of takers are slightly down, the warm wishes and enthusiasm was appreciated. However, due to a few wanting to wait till Term 4, and the recent COVID spikes (combined with holiday visitors), I’ve decided to hold off restarting classes for now, but will keep a watching brief.... If you’re young one is keen to do some practice at home. there are links to the first two katas on the Facebook page & I am happy to email training (& grading) sheets if wanted. It’s interesting the similarities of karate and any form of defence. For any threat you need to take stock of the situation quickly, assess it, and decide what you can do to respond to protect yourself, and loved ones. Indecision is not a solution; it’s avoiding action and a higher risk. Whilst the outcome is not guaranteed, you need to make your decision and commit to it; then re-assess and adapt as necessary. Whilst I would very much like to restart next week, I believe it’s best to wait. I wish everyone all the best and want for you to continue to be safe and careful. regards Sensei Brett

09.01.2022 BELLINGEN SHOTOKAN KARATE April 2020... Due to COVID 19, no Karate classes for Term 2 Hi Karateka & extended families, I hope you are all well & safe; we’re fortunate that our area is very low in confirmed Covid cases, may it continue. As you were probably expecting, due to the virus , I won’t be running classes for Term 2. All venues are closed to start. When we resume classes, I will gladly credit everyone for the classes cancelled at the end of Term 1. If a Zoom or Skype class is of any interest I’m happy to run some, or pre- record and supply links, please let me know if that is of interest. Apologies to students who were looking grade (like Bodhi & Chay who were deservedly about to grade for Blue belt), but we will get through this period and continue improving in all that we do. Be strong karetaka & take care of yourselves and family, I look forward to seeing you when we get back to training together safely. any queries feel free to email or call Stay well. Information is available at https://www.health.gov.au//health-alerts/novel-coronavirus- 2019-ncov-health-alert/what-you-need-to-know-about-coronavirus-covid-19#how-to-seek-medical-attention We will be following social distancing in class with no contact exercises, if you do not want your child (or you) to attend, I understand perfectly. I will assess next term during the Easter break and let everyone know what the plan is going forward before Term 2 commencement date. Stay safe Regards Brett
