15.01.2022 This is a letter to Friends of Kalang Headwaters from Catherine Cusack MLC. Catherine crossed the floor In parliament to bravely oppose the koala kill Bill. https://www.nefa.org.au/koalas

14.01.2022 In case you haven't noticed, WWF Australia is developing quite a presence in the Northern Rivers. In October it published the report "Regenerate Australia: a ro...admap to recovery & regeneration" around the pillars of Economy Shift, Wildlife Recovery, Stabilise Climate, Food Production, Build Resilience and Upscale Innovation. Within the wildlife stream is the programme Koalas Forever which aims to double koala numbers in Eastern Australia by 2050. Sadly, I wont be around to see that happen. The NSW North Coast project is named Koala Bounce-back. Here's a snapshot of what it looks like. See more

12.01.2022 Let Koalas live in the wild and free-

11.01.2022 There is so much bad news on the environment front, sometimes its easy to forget just how amazing the area we call home really is. This forest giant lives in a magnificent yet little known patch of rain forest in the Nambucca hinterland. This giant stinging tree is one of the largest trees in our region by girth, over 12m. This patch of forest is packed full of giants and critters some that go right back to gondwanna times. Please don't forget to spend time in nature in these crazy times.

07.01.2022 GONDWANA BURNING this Sat Mem Hall In October 2019, as catastrophic bushfires raged through Australia's ordinarily wet and lush forests, one ecologist and mother decided to record the horror. With the mind of a scientist, and the heart of an ecophile, this is a collection which pays homage to the millions of years of evolution lost in the ashes. ... Like diary entries from the end of the world, Gondwana Burning brings together environmental science and personal narrative in what is ultimately a powerful journey through ecological grief

07.01.2022 Congratulations to every single person who stood up and said "No" to Forestry Corporation regarding the Logging of the "Headwaters" of the Kalang River and the Nambucca Rivers Headwaters. This unveiling by Michael Jarrett senior Aboriginal Teacher and Uncle Martin. We are thankful to them both for braving the heat and being there at the Multiparty launch.

06.01.2022 Last Thursday, Upper House Liberal Catherine Cusack refused to vote for the koala killing bill. Without Cusack's vote it cannot get passed. Thanks to all of you who helped raise the profile of the dire consequences of the Koala Bill and lobbied against it! The bill was delayed, though is now due to be voted on this Thursday. Catherine Cusack must be under immense pressure to capitulate.... Could you help us contact her office and thank her? She deserves it! Catherine Cusack (02) 9230 2915 For those of you wanting to vent, we now suggest you target: The Hon. Gladys Berejiklian, (02) 8574 5000, Contact the Premier, There are many other politicians that we have previously identified who need to know how much the community value Koalas, so keep up the pressure. More details here: https://www.nefa.org.au/koalas

05.01.2022 We need a moratorium on koala habitat clearing to protect our national treasure Bushfires, land clearing and habitat loss have pushed our national treasure, the koala, closer and closer to extinction. Yet the Federal Government continues to give approvals for mining and development projects that will destroy more land that koalas call home.... No approvals for developments on koala land should be given. We need a moratorium on habitat clearing or the koalas will soon be extinct. Please sign this petition

02.01.2022 Join the International Day of Action on Forest Biomass Energy, 24 November Dear friend, We are taking part in an International Day of Action on Forest Biomass Energy on 24th November and need your help to make it a success.... A mass online action will flow around the world through the various time zones, starting in the Pacific, via Australia, Asia, Africa, and Europe to the Americas. The focus is an important petition. Many thousands of individual signatures are needed to make a big impact, so we are asking you, your friends, family and colleagues to each sign the petition on the 24th November. You will be joining many people who care deeply in calling for change. The petition calls for an end to subsidies and incentives for burning forest wood, for it to be excluded from renewable energy targets, and for the protection and restoration of forests to be prioritised for our health, the climate and biodiversity. The target is the European Union and its member countries but this message must come from everywhere affected by Europe’s unacceptable large scale biomass burning and poor leadership from forests and communities suffering the impacts, to other jurisdictions that are following in Europe’s footsteps currently leading to a global escalation of this false and damaging climate solution. This is going to be an exciting and important campaign event. We encourage you to post our graphics to your social media to spread the word and inspire people to join in. And when you’ve signed the petition on 24th November, have fun by posting a pic of yourselves with the hashtag #forestsarenotfuel, and encourage your friends to sign too. You can access the materials and resources for this here. Please join us as we work together with organisations and people all over the world in this global push for change! For forests and communities everywhere, See more
