24.01.2022 Kookaburras enjoyed it so much the first time they wanted to do it again. Cooking is such a valuable learning opportunity for children and as you can see we love it! So many senses are used. This time we made a lime and coconut slice! Once again the children collected the limes from our tree out side and participated fully in this rich learning experience. The authentic experience of using fresh produce, verse a replica in home corner, is irreplaceable. The feel, smells and texture of the lime were incredible and the discussions around how and what we can use from the lime. As you can see we used the juice and the rind, both have a different taste, texture and fragrance. What is your favourite recipe using lime? #LoveCooking #QCCS

This activity also inspired lots of great conversations about health and hygiene! #facemasks #earlylearning #bellmerechildcare #QCCS

The suggestion from Ellyse was to make scrunchies! 05.01.2022 What discussions have you had at home to empower your child to feel safe? The Kindy children have been discussing Child Protection Week and what that means for us. We talked about the people in our lives and community and who we trust, and the level of trust which is an important topic. We talked about the adults in our lives and our community that are entrusted to keeping us safe and who we can call on for help. We created safety circles to represent these conversations with the children drawing themselves in the centre and the trusted adults around us. 04.01.2022 As the Kindergarten children prepare for their transition to Prep next year, we have been talking a lot about the changes that will occur and practicing our routines, visiting the school and having ‘lunchbox days’. On Monday, Miss Kym came to the service to conduct an educational session about healthy lunchboxes. The children really enjoyed selecting healthy foods, talking about what were ‘healthy’ and ‘not healthy’ options, as well as talking about the food groups. T...he children received a lunchbox each at the end of the session which will be perfect for our ‘lunchbox days’! A fantastic way to learn about healthy foods and explore our knowledge of food and healthy eating further. #healthylunch #lunchbox #lhealthyeating #QCCS

03.01.2022 The children wrote down the kind things our friends do for each other when we are feeling not OK. The children shared this with Miss Destiny who wrote down their responses and then the children signed their name. We shared this in a group and awarded Ellyse as being the most supportive friend! This experience not only allowed the children to understand the importance of emotional connections and empathy, it also supported language and literacy skills, social justice and ...critical thinking about the peers in our social circle and community. Such a valuable and rich learning experience for our incredible Kindy group. RUOK? Day #ruok #earlylearning #childcare #QCCS

02.01.2022 The Kindy children have been learning sign language with Miss Destiny for most of the year and are very skilled in communicating with sign language. Be sure to ask R U OK #ruok #ruokayday2020 #earlylearning #childcare #QCCS

01.01.2022 The Early Learning Sector has been restricted in many ways with Job-keeper ceasing early, free Childcare and support packages finishing before other sectors. With these restrictions now finished, many services will be looking at their pre-covid fee increases to filter through to families. We believe families have had their fair share of financial strain, so for now, we are saying no to fee increases. We will look at a new fee structure next year that will be introduced to support families with our session hour options, holiday discount and starting next year - a multi day discount. But for now, no change from us. #childcarebrisbane #brisbane #bellmere #earlylearning #childcare #feestostaythesame #covid #earlychildhood

01.01.2022 Today we sorted through more of the materials and started to measure up and cut the sizes we will need to make our scrunchies. This experience supported mathematical skills, size sorting, problem solving and all important fine motor skills. As well as being a buzz of social conversation at the exciting patterns we found. #ScrunchieProject #QCCS

01.01.2022 GLOBAL RECYCLING DAY Every year, the Earth yields billions of tons of natural resources and at some point, in the not too distant future, it will run out. That’s why we must think again about what we throw away seeing not waste, but opportunity.... Recycling is a key part of the circular economy, helping to protect our natural resources. Each year the ‘Seventh Resource’ (recyclables) saves over 700 million tonnes in CO2 emissions and this is projected to increase to 1 billion tons by 2030. There is no doubt recycling is on the front line in the war to save the future of our planet and humanity. #GlobalRecyclingDay The theme this year is #RecyclingHeroes #Recycling #Reuse #QCCS
