13.01.2022 I call on the media and the general public to give hard working removalists a break. Australian Removalists have undertaken hundreds of thousands of moves since... the start of the COVID pandemic. Out of all of these moves three crews worked whilst positive, and two of those crews had no idea they were carrying COVID. I challenge any other industry in Australia to better these stats. Removals work is important and essential. It is physically hard work. Almost without exception removals workers have performed outstandingly. We should not be condemning everyone in the removals industry because of the actions of a select few. The overwhelming majority of the removals industry has worked safely and without incident for 18 months. Well done.

13.01.2022 At Bells Removals we like to keep up to date with what is happening in our Industry. In August each year the Australian Furniture Removers Association host a conference. This year it was held in Darwin (Yay warm weather) . We heard about changes in the industry, the impact of social media and new software to help us reduce our impact on the environment by working towards paperless processes. We were privileged to have Nigel Brennan speak of his time being held captive in Somalia for 462 days. His journey of survival, resilience and forgiveness was very moving and can be read in his book called The Price of Life Grab a copy! The conference concluded with a Gala Dinner and the opportunity to acknowledge the hard work & achievements of those in the industry.

03.01.2022 We have recently had the pleasure in contributing to this beautiful story from the Koala Kids Foundation. .................................................................................................. Koala Kids Foundation is a volunteer-driven organisation that provides small things that make a difference to the lives of children and young people (from birth to 25 years) undergoing cancer treatment and their families and staff who care for them in Victoria and Tasmania.... 13-year-old Abbey Brown was diagnosed when she was four years old. Having enjoyed some of the items Koala Kids provided her and her family, she signed on as a volunteer last year. Earlier this year, Abbey and her family began repainting and decorating her bedroom to turn it from a little girls bedroom into a room fit for a teenager! Abbey knew that she wanted to gift her furniture and toys to another family facing the same challenges she went through during cancer treatment so she approached Koala Kids to see if we knew a family who would appreciate the furniture. We decided to run a competition with families who have a child in treatment entering for a chance to win the bedroom set. The bedroom set, toys and furnishings were won by Layla (6) and Macey (3) Smith. It couldnt have come at a better time for their mum, Kika Robertson, who says "Layla currently hasnt got a bed, we have just moved and it broke in the move so until we get a new one she is on her mattress". Macey has been receiving treatment at The Royal Childrens Hospital for an Atypical Teratoid Rhabdoid Tumour and is no longer able to walk due to the tumour. In her competition entry, Kika explained "My daughter Layla is doing everything she can for her sister who is no longer able to walk due to her tumour. She is always putting Macey before herself and is always aware of Maceys needs. Last year her education got out on the back burner as we travelled to another state for treatment. We couldnt ask for a better daughter or big sister." Koala Kids is so proud of Abbey Brown for her generous gesture and send our sincerest thanks to her and her family. Thank you to Bells Removals for your generous support in transporting the furniture from Melbourne to Tasmania at such short notice.

01.01.2022 Premier Berejiklian was asked today what could be done for real property vendors facing significant financial penalties for not being unable to meet settlement ...requirements due to the lack of removalists. The Premier said she 'hadn't heard of that challenge' and that people who "have specific circumstances that need to be addressed...can seek assistance if that's the case". To ANYONE in Sydney who cannot settle on a real estate sale, or cannot move out when their lease has ended, or is sleeping on the floor of an empty house and can't get their possessions delivered, or any other urgent removals work that cannot be undertaken - contact the NSW COVID hotline on 13 77 88, option 1. AFRA wants to see COVIDsafe URGENT removals work added to the NSW Authorised Worker List.
