22.01.2022 'ICE MAN' UNDERGOES SURGERY Rob Gough is undergoing surgery on his shattered pelvis and hip in the Sunshine Coast University Hospital today after an horrific cr...ash on October 3. Mr Gough and his wife Martine Lokan run The Ice Man service, providing food and drink to campers between Rainbow and Teewah Beach. But last Saturday on the way to work he lost all steering and careered off the road in his ‘trusty’ Toyota ute, the cabin crumpling around him. He told the ABC's Rob Blackmore that he was trapped by his left leg, with his foot pinned under the clutch before fire fighters used the jaws of life to free him and place him on a spinal board. Despite his serious injuries, he joked that he 'didn't break an egg', with his freezer of food and ice surviving unscathed. There's been an outpouring of support for the couple. Friend Grant Richardson has set up a 'Help the Ice Man' fundraising page, saying "Over the past 12 months Rob and Martine's business has been hindered from bush Fires in 2019/20 and then straight into COVID and just as things start to wind up and there is finally a light at the end of what has been a long dark tunnel they were struck again with a savage blow." Ms Lokan thanks everyone for their kind messages and well wishes, saying her husband won't be back at work for six to nine months and new staff are learning the ropes.

16.01.2022 In late August 2017, just after we moved to Rainbow Beach, we made the decision to list our holiday unit on Airbnb. Nothing could have prepared us for the success that this would achieve and the number of wonderful, interesting and friendly guests that we would host from all across our amazing world AGAIN, we have achieved SUPERHOST status with 204 guests kindly choosing to give us an overall rating of 4.9 (out of 5) and glowing written reviews. We have had well over 250 guest stays in these 3 short years (with 3 months totally closed for CoVID) Thank you to everyone who has supported us : family, friends and guests from everywhere.

Their financial assistance will allow the pool... to keep open until the 30th April. This is a great outcome for Rainbow Beach and now it’s up to the community to use this wonderful asset and ensure it continues to operate in the future. See more

15.01.2022 A great reminder that there is a NO DRIVE area from the beach entry near the lifesaver’s tower travelling towards Inskip/Fraser. It runs in front of Rainbow Shores and is the perfect area for beach walking as you do NOT have to listen for vehicles approaching from behind. There is kilometres & kilometres of beach to drive on - just NOT this little patch.
