Usually everyone rocks up on the first week of class and then I know who exactly will be joining us, but I will need an indicator from everyone prior to the class so I can put you into my whatapp groups and send you the zoom link. 18.01.2022 GRANDE BAZAAR - CANCELLED It is with great sadness, that due to gathering restrictions in place within our communities, and the large numbers and impossibility of practicing social distancing at the Grande Bazaar, for the first time in 25 years, this event will be cancelled. 16.01.2022 Life is a balance of holding on and letting go Rumi ...a message from Nikki. I have lived and breathed WAMED Festival for the last 5 years and loved every sin...gle moment of it, but it is now time for me to hang up my well worn WAMED hipscarfe and enjoy being a participant once again. To the wonderful team members I’ve had the privilege of working with at various times over these past few years, Kerry, Fiona, Aiveen & Tabetha, the creative graphic genius of both Alma Sarhan and Aradia, amazing photographers, Alma Sarhan (again! Because this woman is so darn talented!), Wayne Eddy, Richard Stein, Dale Neill, Michelle Keyt and brilliant videographer, Simon Stokes, some of the worlds finest teachers including Nerissa, Melusina, Rose Ottaviano, Karim Nagi, Nesma al Andalus, Vanessa of Cairo, Cinzia Putrificato and Kae Montgomery, as well as all our world class local teachers and performers from around Australia, our humbling workshop assistants and our always wonderful participants and audience members who have brought so much cheer to the festival year after year, thank you all for being part of my unforgettable journey and thank you for supporting the Arts, we have an incredibly special community. As some of you already know, I have struggled with injury for a couple of years following a car accident and then at the beginning of the year we discovered I had two very painful and debilitating benign tumours on the bottom of my right foot. In short, I am broken! Once covid reared it’s ugly head, it was clear as day that I was being pulled in a new direction. I needed to very quickly get a new job to support my family as no amount of government assistance was going to guarantee the survival of my business after 6 months, it really was not a risk I could take. The culmination of working full time plus continuing to run classes and organise WAMED on top of being a single mumma to my two gorgeous boys resulted in some major fatigue and burn out. Because of this, I have needed to re-evaluate my priorities and what I was going to do moving forward because as much as I would love to, I simply cannot do everything. I write this not to evoke sympathy, as while I have certainly grieved over the major changes in my life, I am truely loving my new path and I am tackling it in my usual passionate way! I look forward to seeing you all in workshops in 2021, and can’t wait for you to all be introduced to WAMED Festival’s newest team member, who brings a wealth of knowledge, experience and expertise and who along with Kerry and Fiona will no doubt continue to bring the community many, many new wonderful WAMED memories. 14.01.2022 Bellydance Central - Covid 19 Monday 16th March 2020 Hi everyone, I just wanted to touch base with regards to Corvid-19. As there is still no locally transmitted cases (ie transmitting freely within the community), classes will continue as usual. By the end of this week, I will have set up a system where by classes can be accessed via a live online stream, so if anyone finds themself or indeed I find myself in self isolation, you will still be able to join us live and not mis...s any of our classes. We will still use WhatsApp to communicate and to upload choreography videos. I am keeping a close eye on state government updates, and will revise if and when necessary. Please can I ask, that anyone who presents with any cold/flu like symptoms, please stay home. I have some students who fall into the most at risk category and it is important we look after our community and the most vulnerable among us. You will have access to the live stream, so you will not miss a thing. I will have my essential oil diffuser running during class, but if you are potentially allergic, please let me know. I will also set up a hand sanitiser station and ask that everyone uses this as they enter class from now on. I look forward to seeing everyone each week, as I feel dance is just the thing we need to continue to do to keep sane during these times. Nikki

01.01.2022 Bellydance Central Covid-19 Update 22nd March 2020 Hi everyone! I just wanted to let you know that because I am unable to guarantee my classes to run in accordance with government guidelines with regards to social distancing and therefore unable to protect the more vulnerable of my students, that as of this Tuesday 24th March all classes will move online. I am currently setting up my home studio and Im lucky enough to have some mirrors stashed in my garage, so you will get... both behind and front views of classes.
