24.01.2022 Drum Role please as we present to you Egyptian Percussionist Adel Amin of Joyful Drumming School! Adel was awarded a scholarship to the Cairo Conservatorium of Music and commenced musical training (percussion, violin and piano) when 10 years old. Since coming to Australia, Adel has worked with a number of Western and Middle Eastern bands including Sahara (now Boom Crash Opera), Black Train (a nine piece Gypsy band based in Sydney), The Amera Show (Sydney,) Javalani (South ...African soul and funk band based in Melbourne), and has performed at the Woodford Festival. Adel continues to share his knowledge and love of Egyptian and Arabic music, particularly his skills as a Percussionist by teaching private classes and Australia-wide workshops. You can witness Adel in his rhythmic glory as his powerful percussions channel the supreme God of Mesopotamia, Anu, representing the personification of the sky!

23.01.2022 Let us introduce to you the Firey Flamenco Dancer, Susana Menotte! Naturally, she has choregraphed the scene for the God of Sun and Justice...Utu! Catch Susana and her sunbeams as they bring an intense flavour to the production Susana has devoted a lifetime to dance, as a teacher, choreographer and performer, with an enduring passion for Flamenco and Classical Spanish Dance. After touring both in Australia and overseas with companies such as Antonio Vargas Flamenco Dance... Theatre and Victorian State Opera, Susana established El Duende Flamenco Dance Co. and produced several dance drama productions in Sydney, before signing up for further extensive touring with El Caballo Blanco, as principal dancer. On relocating to the Sunshine Coast, it became apparent that retirement was not an option! "There is such an abundance of creative energy here..what the Gypsies might call ‘Duende’. 22.01.2022 Who is ready to be swept away into the foreign lands of Mesopotamia as we journey into the past with a collaboration of music, dance and fantasy! The Civilised Sultan is a theatre production performed by local artists on the Sunshine Coast. The story tells of an account of humanity's history and all the magic and mystery that was uncovered when a lamp was finally discovered in the ancient Middle East. Filled with an assortment of oriental and fusion bellydance, live music, LE...D acts, sword balancing and feature acts from Adel Amin, Bellas Bellydance, El Duende, Melha Bellydance, Janna Bellydancer, Divine Sparks, Bellydance Sunshine Coast, Angela Aura and more, this theatrical production is a chance to be swept into the realms of oriental fantasy as we re-live our past, and set intentions for our future. Below information copied from Ausdance Queensland... **COVID 19 restrictions clarification** Don't panic! This morning's announcement on new restrictions in specific listed local government areas in QLD relate to private gatherings in people's houses or outside (now a maximum of 10 people). They do NOT apply to your events or businesses providing you are operating under a COVID safe plan. For dance activities, it is now mandatory to be operating under the DPPA Industry Covid Safe Plan (on our website). Events can still proceed providing they're operating under the relevant industry plans as these specify significant risk mitigation strategies and contact tracing requirements which minimise transmission risk. If anything changes, we'll let you know. Here's the QLD government website for clarification;

08.01.2022 Inanna is the ancient Sumerian Goddess of love and sensuality, later known by the Assyrians as Ishtar. Our very own Janna Al Hilwa has embodied this mythologica...l deity in a most glorious dance as the opening scene of Act 2 in The Civilised Sultan Production! Janna is an internationally acclaimed, multi-award winning belly dance performer, teacher and choreographer from Australia. Perhaps most notably, Janna was hand picked by Egyptian superstar Dina to represent Australia in the reality television style bellydance competition "Al Rakessah" for the Al Kahera Wal Nas television network in Egypt in 2014. Janna has since founded Bellydance Brisbane and the sellout annual event The Essential Brisbane Bellydance Weekender, and propelled her Australian presence on the festival circuits. Being immersed in the dance from a very young age, 2020 marks Janna’s 25th year of bellydance, and a career that has spanned over two decades across the Middle East, Europe, and Australia. Melony Davies was born in Sri Lanka, at an early age she trained in Sri Lankan traditional dance. After moving to Hawaii she fell in love with the beauty of Bellydance from her first lesson. She continues to learn from master teachers around the world, performing at international dance events. Now after 20 years of Bellydance M...elony has her own style of dancing and teaching in Noosaville, Queensland. Melha Belly Dance Melony channels her enchanting dance moves to bring you a very special scene in the production as she embodies the ancient Mesopotamian Goddess Ninhursag.
