11.01.2022 Amateur Premier League table and Round 18 - Match Report v Leeming Strikers: Leeming Strikers have lost ground on the leaders after they were beaten 4-2 by Belmont Villa at Gerry Archer Sports Complex. It was the visitors who hit the front on the quarter hour, Leandro Da Silva was played through and chipped over a keeper and Ben Greaves made sure firing home from close-range. But the home side levelled moments later, when Ryan Lee headed home from a corner, and it was all-s...quare at the break. But early in the second half the hosts hit the front, Paul Mc Cormack was sent clear by Naser Lamy's through ball, and he finished one-on-one with the Leeming Keeper. But on the hour the visitors restored parity, as Villa failed to deal with a corner and the ball fell to Michael Jennings whose shot from 14 meters flew into the net. Both sides had chances to take the lead as the game became more open, the best fell to Leeming player/coach David Palin, whose effort crashed off the crossbar. But it was the home side who broke the deadlock. Villa skipper James McDaid getting on the end of a James Fay cross and thundered a volley home from edge of the box. With Leeming pushing men forward Villa went close again, but the woodwork came to the rescue of the visitors on two occasions, but the points were wrapped up when Ryan Lee picked the pocket of the Leeming keeper and rolled the ball into an empty net. Very happy with the result, it was a well-deserved team effort," Belmont Coach Phil Weall.

Both Paul and club Captain James McDaid have been representing the State team for the past few months. State Team Coach Colm Costello had the following to say:... " Great season from the lads , They both performed consistently threwout the season and even more so In the Trial games,work commitments unfortunately made it hard for James to be available ,but very thankful for his efforts and application threwout.
