23.01.2022 Park yourself on our refurbished seats! The Belmont - WA Men's Shed have recently undertaken a project to refurbish many of the park benches within the City. Ea...ch bench repaired by the Men's Shed is stripped back and sanded with any broken slats being replaced. It is then repainted and has new bolts installed. Refurbished benches can be found around the City at locations such as Adachi Park, Garvey Park, Epsom Park, Whiteside Park, Tomato Lake and Aviary Gardens. So far 13 have been completed with more on the way! Thanks to the Men's Shed for the fantastic work and for providing a great place for blokes to have a chat and do what they enjoy!

21.01.2022 Were hearing that people are confused about what we are all being asked to do, so just to be clear DO NOT gather in groups. DO NOT travel. DO NOT hang out wit...h mates at the beach or park. DO NOT mingle at the shopping centre. Practise social distancing, hand hygiene and cough etiquette - every minute of the day. Regularly wash your hands with soap and water. Get more info at australia.gov.au and abc.net.au/coronavirus
21.01.2022 Meet Brian Carey, one of our Community Service Award Winners. Brian has been instrumental in the establishment and the development of the Belmont - WA Men's Sh...ed. Brians skill set and knowledge have enabled the Sheds Board of Management to be very successful in sourcing grants and funding. He is always promoting the Belmont Mens Shed to the wider community, offers assistance wherever he can, and leads by example with his work ethic and caring manner. The Belmont Mens Shed provides a meeting place for men where they could feel involved and welcome to share their skills. Recent projects developed by Brian and the Mens Shed include the after school YMCA program, restoration of City of Belmont park benches and building of Little Libraries. Congratulations Brian on this wonderful achievement and thank you for everything you do for the Belmont Mens Shed.

19.01.2022 Hey ya folks. Just wanted to say how proud I felt as an Australian and part of this community during the Driveway Dawn Service. We're halfway along St Kilda rd and as far as I could see in both directions, was a street lined with candles. Very moving. Lest we forget.

11.01.2022 Last week we were delighted to congratulate City of Belmont Youth Services The Base@Belmont volunteer Jarrad for being a finalist for Youth Volunteer of the Yea...r at the National Volunteer Awards. Jarrad has been volunteering at The Base for about two years, inspiring young people through creative workshops, supporting youth at leadership camps and volunteering with the sport program. "Six years ago was my first time as a young person that I walked into The BASE," said Jarrad. "At this time I was about to drop out of school - from then to now I have come a long way as now I am a volunteer at The Base. "I use my own experiences, and reflect on them, to help me to find the solution to the young person's problems." Thank you for all your hard work and for being such a fantastic role model Jarrad!

06.01.2022 Did you know that bee populations in Australian are declining due to the clearing of trees and shrubs used by native bees in our towns? You can help some native bees find a nest by setting up a Bee Hotel in your garden. The bees in your Bee Hotel will help pollinate both your local wildflowers and your vegie garden. Watching native bees bringing pollen, nectar and building materials back to a Bee Hotel is a great activity for the whole family. The Belmont Mens Shed is making Bee Hotels for sale. They can be purchased for $30. Contact the Shed for more details. [email protected] 9 News Perth

It ...was great to announce the Shed has been granted $4,540 from the Coalition Government's Stronger Communities Programme to help facilitate the purchase of more metalwork equipment to expand on the items they can produce at the shed.
