22.01.2022 With the current Covid Restrictions in place, we haven't been able to have any prospective students or their families come to see our school this year. Our student leaders have solved that problem by helping to create a virtual tour of BVS. Even if you're not new to our school, you'll enjoy watching it as many changes have happened this year that no one has been able to see yet. A big thanks to Sue A for supporting our students with this project and well done to our student presenters - you did an amazing job.

21.01.2022 WOW! Our Word of the Week for Term 3 Week 9 is "ON & OFF" ON and OFF - so many meanings! On and Off have so many functions in English. We combine them with so many verbs to create different meanings beyond the simple concrete meaning of putting something ON or taking something OFF. Use these prepositions to teach the flexible use of words!... The following books have repeated lines with the word ON & OFF: Ten Apples up on top, by Dr Seuss. Hop on Pop, by Dr Seuss The Room on the Broom, by Julie Donaldson Try this Tar Heel Reader while modeling "ON & OFF" tarheelreader.org/2015/11/12/5-little-frogs/ The Speech Team!

19.01.2022 Today is Indigenous Literacy Day (ILD) - a day for celebrating Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander languages, reading, and writing. Having your language and culture represented in a book is vital for literacy development and cultural preservation. ILD is usually celebrated at the Sydney Opera House with children from remote communities, local schools, ILF ambassadors and supporters. Today it is being celebrated with a virtual YouTube Live Premiere event at 12.30pm!... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YtrOi2Y-B8A

09.01.2022 One of our favourite end of term traditions is the big goodbye in the bus bay. For some of our students it’s their final journey before they move on to brand new adventures in the adult world - so it’s a pretty big moment and tissues are always needed. Mostly though, there’s a lot of smiles and excitement about the holidays.

05.01.2022 Plans are well underway for our new playground in the JLC that will commence construction in 2021. On Friday Don Shields from Geelong Insurance Brokers came to take photos and to start the process of repurposing our current equipment in Papua New Guinea. Something to look forward to in 2021, but a lot of planning is currently going ahead to make this all possible!
