This study demonstrates that manipulation is safe and effective in the management of new-onset symptoms of uncomplicated concussions." Here are our top tips for acute concussions:... When in doubt, seek immediate medical attention. If you do not need hospitalization and you are allowed to return home, you should have a responsible attendant stay with you for the first 24 hours. You should sleep with your head slightly elevated for the first 24 hours. You should drink only clear fluids for the first 8-12 hours. Avoid alcohol, sedatives, sleeping pills, aspirin, and Ibuprofen unless your medical physician has directed otherwise. After 8-12 hours, you may begin with light meals and progress to a normal diet over the next day. You should avoid unnecessary physical and mental activity for the first 24 hours.
