25.01.2022 A big congratulations to Luka Tomic! The City has recognised Luka with the Youth Green Award 2020 for his outstanding contribution to environmentally friendly... initiatives. Luka is a member of the Inclusive Education recycling team at Belmont City College. He collects waste paper from offices across the school and shreds it for composting and use in the school’s worm farm. His commitment and enthusiasm for the process contributes greatly to the vibrant gardens students maintain across the Belmont City College campus. The Youth Green Award is held in partnership with Y WA and was presented by Mayor Cr Phil Marks yesterday at the Base@Belmont. 21.01.2022 Today we are creating a whole school piece of artwork to promote Reconciliation and celebrate Noongar culture. All students and staff are joining in by placing their fingerprint as the leaves on the centre tree. This artwork was designed by one of our Year 11 students, Kayley, and you can see one of our Year 10 students, Kira, completing some painting (both in our Follow The Dream Program). Belmont City College staff and students acknowledge and respect the Noongar Whadjuk people, the traditional custodians of the boodja (land) on which we work, learn and live. We recognise their continuing connection to the boodja and bilya (rivers), and pay our respects to their Elders past, present and emerging.... This week we are celebrating NAIDOC Week at BCC with face painting, traditional cooking, presentations from local Elders and performances. Stay tuned for updates and photos!

10.01.2022 Happy Humanities Week!! On Wednesday 29th July, Year 12 ATAR Geography students attended a field trip to Subiaco and the Perth CBD as part of their studies. The excursion is a crucial component of the course as it allows students to gain a visual understanding of the functional zones of the city as well view an example of a transit orientated development in relation to Subi Centro.

At this Let's Talk session, participants will gain a better understanding of how to acknowledge, respect and celebrate cultures as well as practical strategies to communicate clearly and politely.

10.01.2022 Next week is HUMANITIES week at Belmont City College and we will be celebrating with a range of Humanities related activities during class and break times across the school. Two highlights of the week promise to be the spelling bee (which will take place on Wednesday) and a jigsaw challenge. To mark the end of Humanities week (7 August), staff and students are invited to Come dressed as a person (real or fictional) who has influenced or helped shape the society we live in. This could include a musician, writer, inventor, politician, activist, artist, archaeologists, movie star/celebrity or a pivotal character from a book or film. The overarching theme is changing society for the better. A gold coin donation collected on the day will go towards a charity, community or school-based initiative (as nominated by the student council)

The information session highlighted the vast range of rewarding ADF careers available - all offering great pay, an exciting lifestyle and benefits. Also, students discovered the many different methods of entry into the ADF and learnt of the attraction of the Gap Year program after completing Year 12. 07.01.2022 BIKE RESCUE PROGRAM A HUGE SUCCESS! Select Year 10 and 11 BCC students have engaged in a hands-on, interactive program over the past five weeks through Dismantle. The program involved students dismantling two broken bicycles and restoring one to donate to charity, and another to keep themselves. This afternoon, they got to test out their personalised bicycles at Kent Street Park Weir. All bikes are still intact, which we will accept as a testament to their hard work and detail-oriented process.
