25.01.2022 A new study published in BMJ Nutrition, Prevention and Health by Dr David Unwin showed that over 6 years 93% of those with prediabetes were able to return to normal blood markers and 46% of those with diabetes were able to discontinue medication and experience remission. 24.01.2022 It is with a heavy heart that we will have to press pause on providing treatment that is not considered urgent. With Stage 4 restrictions in place and from the advice given by DHHS, all Allied Health practitioners are allowed to remain open and provide care but it is not business as usual. We have been advised that treatment must only be provided if the absence of, or delay of this care, would result in a significant change/ deterioration of the patient/clients functional i...ndependence necessitating an escalation of care. Examples provided by DHHS of when it is appropriate for care to be provided to a patient include the following: 1. To avoid the requirement for a specialist input/review; 2. To avoid an increase in care needs and/or alternate accommodation; 3. To avoid a hospital admission or emergency department presentation. For this reason we have been advised that treatment should only be provided if it considered essential for the next 6 weeks and where not receiving care is likely to lead to a significant deterioration in the health and wellbeing of the patient. In all other circumstances we are not allowed to see a patient face-to-face. This is a legal obligation. We are here for you though!! The phone will be answered and social media DM monitored. We will be in contact with you by phone if you have an upcoming appointment to deem the nature of the appointment as essential or to reschedule it for 6 weeks time. If your condition worsens, or deteriorates significantly or you sustain an injury or fall that would warrant a presentation to hospital or specialist- please contact us. There will be one of us to assist in this urgent situation. We can make products available to you if you call ahead. We will provide updates via social media, emails and we are looking into telehealth for you if your condition can be resolved over video conference. Look out for our regular stretch/strengthen posts.
