21.01.2022 DON'T MISS A VERY SPECIAL 'AIRING OF THE QUILTS' EVENT TO SUPPORT A WONDERFUL CAUSE. Our Belong Blue Mountains Palliative Support Service is a very special service supported by a very special community. The ‘Caring Hearts Quilters’ are a group of wonderful and talented people who donate their time and creativity for the comfort of others. The Caring Hearts Quilters have donated lovingly made quilts to the Palliative Care Wards at Blue Mountains District Hospital, Springwo...od Hospital and the Blue Mountains Palliative Care Volunteer Service. The quilts are given to patients in the wards and in the home setting to place on their beds and brighten up their rooms. Families are then welcome to keep the quilts in memory of their loved one. To raise money to support their work, the Caring Hearts Quilters have held an annual ‘Airing of the Quilts’ event. This year they will be the 12th and final Airing of the Quilts and it promises to be a wonderful day with more than 200 quilts on display, market stalls, Devonshire tea and a sausage sizzle. The 12th Annual ‘Airing of the Quilts’ will be held on Saturday April 10th from 10am-4pm at the Arms of Australia Inn Museum, Great Western Highway, Emu Plains. Cost of entry is $5. The Caring Hearts Quilters will continue to create quilts for donations in future years but this will be the last opportunity to see their amazing quilts on display and support their cause. Belong Blue Mountains is excited to offer a series of free school holiday workshops with our clever friends from Build-A-Mind. There will be Lego Robotics, Stop Motion and Coding fun to be had with workshops running in Blaxland, Lawson and Katoomba.... Places are limited and will fill up fast. Only one workshop can be booked per child to make sure everyone gets a turn. Light refreshments will be provided. Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult. Bookings are essential so call now so you don’t miss out! STOP MOTION 1-3pm Tuesday 13th April - Katoomba - to book call 4782 1117 10-12pm Wednesday 14th April - Blaxland - to book call 4739 1164 Recommended for 8-14 yrs Learn how to create your own characters, combine story boards, sets and special effects, then edit, add music and voiceovers to create your very own stop motion animation in this fun, interactive movie making extravaganza! Together we will learn and explore multiple models and use a trial and error process to test out the sensors and their functions and make robots that can interact with and react to their environment. CODING WITH ‘SCRATCH’ 10-12pm Thursday 15th April - Lawson - to book call 4759 2592 Recommended for 8-14 yrs. Be the next InnerSloth and have fun programming a game with Scratch, MIT’s drag-and-drop creative learning environment. By moving and combining blocks of code, you can develop super awesome animation projects and games.
