23.01.2022 Manage your pain with new laser treatment therapy at Belrose Frenchs Forest Podiatry Centre. Laser therapy results in reduced inflammation, swelling, muscle spasms, stiffness and ultimately leads to tissue repair and a decrease in pain and... discomfort. "I tore my three ligaments in my right ankle due to a sports injury many years ago. I have suffered with pain for many years. Cesar recommended the laser treatment, its painless and felt some relief after my first session. I have had a further 2 sessions and my pain has subsided. Im incredibly happy with this treatment." - Jacqueline

19.01.2022 FUNGAL INFECTIONS AND YOUR FEET. Fungal infections of the feet are common and can be bothersome to treat and with summer approaching, now is the time to be aware of how to prevent infections. The more common fungal infections include Athletes Foot, ringworm and yeast infections. The more typical symptoms of a fungal infection on the feet include: Itchy skin... Peeling and cracking skin Blister and redness of the skin Burning sensation of the skin As with most fungal infections, Athletes Foot grows best in warm, moist environments and is easily spread in pools, locker rooms and public showers. The fungal spores can be difficult to eradicate. A thorough treatment plan is essential. This includes use of a topical cream and ensuring all shoes and socks are also thoroughly washed and aired. Because of the stubborn nature of fungal spores, it is important to ensure treatments are followed as directed. Often a treatment regime can take up to six weeks to be effective. Cesar recommends when we are in public places such as shower areas, that we wear thongs or shower sandals. Our footwear should also allow our feet to breath and foot hygiene including using soap and water is also important. And of course, it is important to ensure we dry our feet thoroughly and if prone to fungal infections use a quality foot power as prevention.

08.01.2022 Nothing beats that warm toasty felling of bare feet in front of the fire, however this can lead to very painful chilblains. Cesar Puertolas, Podiatrist, is reminding us to resist the urge to warm up cold feet too quickly this winter. Chilblains are caused by the smaller blood vessels closer to the skin expanding more quickly than larger vessels located close by. If you notice any of these symptoms on the skin on your feet, you may be suffering from chilblains a burning... sensation on the skin red, blue or white swollen patches intense itching dry skin, leading to splits and cracks possible secondary infection in severe cases ulceration can occur If you are suffering from any of these symptoms see your local Podiatrist for treatment, management and advise on how to avoid chilblains in the future. 07.01.2022 As winter sport registrations are in full swing and parents are spending a small fortune fitting their children out in club uniforms and equipment, local Podiatrist Cesar Puertolas is urging parents to give careful thought to their childrens footwear. The key message from Cesar is to not be easily influenced by marketing hype and instead choose the sporting footwear that is appropriate for their child. For example, just because a shoe is marketed as a netball shoe doesnt m...ean it will necessarily offer the right support for everyone playing netball, says Cesar. Sometimes the right shoe for a netballer, junior or senior, might be a cross-trainer that offers more flexibility. READ MORE HERE https://www.belrosefrenchsforestpodiatrycenter.com.au//win

04.01.2022 Cracked Heels are a common problem, especially in the hot dry weather of summer. With summer upon us, now is the time to ensure youre looking after feet to have them looking and feeling their best. The skin on our heels thickens as a result of constant walking and standing and can be exacerbated by wearing open footwear or bare feet. Some people are more prone to cracked heels, including the elderly, people with skin conditions such as psoriasis or eczema and people with ...diabetes mellitus, being overweight and untreated fungal infections. If left untreated cracked heels can occasionally bleed and in some instances lead to infection. Keeping the skin on your feet is important and is easily maintained through a daily dose of quality moisturiser, applied at bedtime. Where there is bleeding, treat your heels with antiseptic and cover wounds with a suitable dressing. If you are concerned about the condition of the skin on your heels, your local Podiatrist Cesar can help. Podiatrists are experts in managing patients who suffer from cracked heels and can provide advice on the right daily foot health routine and appropriate footwear. A doctors referral is not necessary.
