How will you be celebrating the special mother figures in your life today?

24.01.2022 They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old: Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn. At the going down of the sun and in the morning, We will remember them.... Lest We Forget.

And celebrating even the smallest things may be more important than ever right now.... Weve rounded up some ideas to make this Easter happy and memorable. What are you doing this Easter? Let us know in the comments below https://retireaustralia.com.au/how-to-have-a-happy-easter-/

22.01.2022 More than 100 years ago, at 11am on 11 November 1918, the guns on the Western Front fell silent after four years of the most brutal war the world had seen. In the four years of that war, more than 330,000 Australians served overseas, and over 60,000 had died. Today, on 11 November we mark that anniversary, and remember all those who sacrificed so much for us all, both in WWI, and all the wars, conflicts and operations that have happened since, and still continue today.... We particularly honour and celebrate those among our residents, and their families, who are veterans of conflicts, and hope that you will join us in paying our respects and express our gratitude for all they have given.

21.01.2022 We hope you had a good Easter. It has been heartening to hear about the alternative ways in which our communities remained socially connected while being physically distant last weekend. 18.01.2022 We love this story of Del and Evon who live in one of our sister villages. Everyone has a story, and it often influences their decision to move into a retirement village to make the most of their retirement years. We have old friends and relatives living here, so this story struck a chord with us.

18.01.2022 Today is Fathers day. Fathers day is a time to reflect and celebrate all the father figures in our lives; dads, stepdads, grandads, uncles, sons, friends and carers. At RetireAustralia we treasure the love they give, the knowledge they share, and the care they show. Not just today, but every day.

16.01.2022 It was a fabulous day at our village today! First was the seafood run for the freshest prawns and oysters from Hawkesbury River Oyster Shed at Mooney. There was a good show for table tennis. Corpus Christi Catholic School presented our Serviced Apartment folk with a huge hamper with the most beautifulhand made cards weveever seen! Then we went knocking on all the doors of our Dads and Grandfathers to give them a gift for Fathers Day! There were other activities including the Friday movie... and George finished another 1000 piece puzzle!

16.01.2022 As we work our way through the COVID-19 crisis, its heartening to see that initial measures and restrictions have been largely effective at slowing the spread of COVID-19 in Australia and keeping it out of our villages and your homes. But we must remain vigilant. Weve received some enquiries recently asking for clarification about the measures currently in place in our villages. Read our latest update to find out more about the status of measures in place within our comm...unities. http://ow.ly/SKmX50zy2Mp

16.01.2022 Retired Air Force Serviceman Charles Watson delivered a simple poignant service for our Remembrance Day, in front of 40 residents and staff. A day to be grateful for what we have here in the lucky country

15.01.2022 Very exciting news here, Tuesday we will be opening up our much loved Clubhouse for all residents to use. We've also expanded our list of activities, including Melbourne Cup Luncheon. To keep everyone safe we have covid marshalls for each activity. The calendar is busy, have look at our November Bulletin, hot off the press!

15.01.2022 A RetireAustralia initiative, to promote safety awareness and well-being during these times... Belrose Country Club decided to make "Covid Combat Care Kits" for all the residents. A packet with a disposable mask, sanitary wipe, tissues and a couple of minties (Its times like these you need minties). They were very gratefully received!

15.01.2022 One of our many lovely residents came to Reception just to show this beautiful flower. She said, and we agree with her, it is the most perfect flower. Thank you, Isabelle, for sharing such a treasure.

14.01.2022 Havent seen a post from us for a while? Thats because we have been busy bees! We are remaining very positive here, and coming together as close as we are allowed. Here is our special Sewing Bee to make masks for everyone at the village. We had an overwhelming amount of generous residents get behind this. Donating fabric, patterns, cutting time, sewing time - and we loved doing it! Watch out for the next post with people wearing the array of masks. Stay safe, everyone.

13.01.2022 We hope you are staying safe and healthy and starting to enjoy the small but steady steps being made towards a new normal in our villages. 11.01.2022 It's been a busy week so far, after our Clubhouse doors opened up for all to use. We had a great Melbourne Cup luncheon on Tuesday. Yesterday we held our first Manager's Morning Tea, where our Village Manager Di Bear chats with our residents... and tonight we held our first Happy Hour. Everyone was pleased to be back together again, like old times. Thank you to everyone that came along and had a great time, all respecting the social distancing and other guidelines.

11.01.2022 You will have heard the Federal Government announce, last Friday, a three-step plan to gradually ease COVID-19 restrictions. Like you, we are eager for some sense of normality to resume, but we must be cautious. Some of our residents are amongst the most vulnerable to COVID-19 and we want to ensure they continue to be protected. 09.01.2022 When times are tough, Australians have always relied on the distinctive qualities of mateship, humour, ingenuity, courage and endurance to get us through. Known as the #ANZACSpirit, these five qualities have defined Australians ever since the first troops landed on the beaches of Gallipoli in World War I. Given the current situation, ANZAC Day 2020 will be very different to previous years. The RSL have put together a list of ways in which we can still acknowledge ANZAC Day an...d remember our servicemen and women. Show your support #ANZACSpirit https://www.rslnsw.org.au/anzac-spirit/

07.01.2022 This looks amazing! We had to share. Andrea Bocelli to live stream Easter Sunday concert from Milans Duomo Cathedral: https://www.npr.org//andrea-bocelli-to-perform-in-an-empty

06.01.2022 The message has been sent. We are serious about our seniors. Everyone received a personal note about R U OK Day, and many contributed. Lovely to see the yellow balloons through the village making people ask why, which provokes thought. Are you okay? We care. Send us a message, or phone Reception 99751237. Thanks for a great day!

06.01.2022 Look at this fabulous photo our gardener Barry took over our village. Rainbows are a symbol of good things to come, and we really hope that this rainbow brings an end to this virus. Meantime, we are safe in our haven, and we are being kept very busy with lots of things to do! We hope you are all well and happy too

03.01.2022 || ANONYMOUS CRAFTER KNITS JOY INTO OUR HEARTS || In times of social distancing, one Wood Glen resident is working tirelessly behind the scenes in Erina, NSW to keep their village connected. The village grounds have been showered in enchanting knitted hearts of all colours, as if by a mysterious force of love. The stealthy knitter remains anonymous, but wants to see many hearts fellow residents can spot on their morning or afternoon walk.... We think this is a wonderful way to spread in a climate that makes it a bit harder to do so. Whoever you are, thank you to this nameless needleworker for their crafty hand in keeping their community tightly knit and putting a smile on our faces! How have you been caring for each other in these socially distant times? Let us know in the comments below!

Its a team effort, so we want to thank you for the part you are playing by making good choices to keep yourself and your community safe.... http://ow.ly/MwM450AUOFj

03.01.2022 Last month, our resident Colin Stracey achieved an awesome 115km walk, and collected $650 for the Black Dog Institute. His real aim was to raise awareness of 'Mental Health Month'. He took on the challenge with his daughter and granddaughter, 3 generations all walking together says, "Every one of us has been affected by mental health is some way. In our generation it was, and many cases still is a taboo subject. Men in particular find it hard to talk about. Now that the challenge is over, Colin is still walking, because he believes that it's not about the distance, it's about the conversations we have along the way, and the time spent together." Congratulations, Colin!

02.01.2022 Thank you for embracing the changes in the first phase of easing of restrictions in our villages. In todays update, youll find more information about the village by village approach we are taking to easing restrictions in phase two. http://ow.ly/JkpB50A4FF5
