25.01.2022 Great time to start planning your holidays :-)

22.01.2022 South Australia’s Flinders Ranges are a geological marvel that attracts tourists, adventurers and scientists. The area is geologically diverse and captures 350 ...million years of continuous geological succession, which is the basis for the push to have the area deemed a UNESCO #WorldHeritage Site; a push of which are proud to be working on with the Department for Environment and Water. We are a major supporter of the World Heritage bid, providing technical expertise and contributing to groundbreaking research. Three volumes of the Australian Journal of Earth Sciences #FlindersRanges World Heritage Nomination Special Edition are now available for free for a limited time Volume 67, Issues 6-8. The journals have been guest-edited by Geological Survey of South Australia’s Stephen Hore. You can read the journals at the link below. https://www.tandfonline.com/toc/taje20/67/6

02.01.2022 Sometimes it is hard to believe that the beautiful, dry outback environment surrounding the Prairie Hotel was once an ocean! This fossil is an imprint of an o...rganism that was buried under the sand of the seafloor around 600 million years ago! The sand formed into a hard cement before the body decomposed. Fascinating!
