20.01.2022 Without these people our country will grind to a halt, if you eat food you are reliant on farming and agriculture as an industry.
20.01.2022 Our AgTech spotlight this week is on Hay Cap, a hay covering system. Developed by Lynda and Phil Snowden, Hay Caps are individual hay covers made from recycled ...plastic that are applied at ground level to the bale. The capped bale is then placed on top as the stack is built. Folds butt together, creating a roof over the hay. They used to use large tarpaulins extensively before inventing the Hay Caps but tarpaulins are dangerous to apply, expensive, prone to wind & rodent damage and don’t last long. They needed a safe, reusable & economical solution - there was nothing suitable on the market so they developed it themselves! The Snowden's do all the manufacturing, marketing & distribution from they farm base at Tocumwal. They employ six people for six months of the year and have over 1,800 farmers using Hay Caps all over Australia as well as NZ, USA, Canada & Europe. The Hay Caps have proved themselves within the industry to be a very affordable option and have the ability to cover any volume of hay, safely from the ground and be reused year after year. 20.01.2022 In the Australian dairy industry, we take sustainability very seriously. As part of our sustainability goals, we set a target to recycle 100 per cent of used p...lastic silage wrap on farms by 2030. Dairy Australia has just been awarded a grant of nearly $1 million by the Federal Government to develop a collection and recycling system for plastic wrapping used for silage making on farms. This will support a nationwide approach to eliminating the environmental impact of farm plastics over the next decade and get us closer to our target.

12.01.2022 One of our clients had sown some clover and lucerne for hay, but rain prevented them from spraying out the grass weeds. We suggested whilst it won’t make good hay it will make pretty good silage, so why waste it. It’s a mixture of clovers with rye grass and barley grass. Not only good feed but will cleanup the paddock.
11.01.2022 Lucerne mowed and now about to be raked. We’re hoping to get a good run of small bales from this cut, stay tuned
10.01.2022 Baled silage off to a cracking start with the new Krone baler/wrapper combo

04.01.2022 Green, gold and blue In 2017 our canola didn’t make it and was baled as hay, in 2018 the cattle ate the failed crop, in 2019 we didn’t even get to plant any, so to see this in 2020 is wonderful!
