25.01.2022 Do you know when you must give way to a bus? It's Bus Safety Week and we're looking at some important road rules road users must follow. #BeBusAware

24.01.2022 There are a lot more trucks driving on our roads in Sydney. While they have many safety features like extra mirrors, they do have blind spots. Truck drivers are... looking out for you, so you should look out for them its a shared responsibility. See what happened when experienced car drivers sat in the truck drivers seat.

23.01.2022 This was posted by KIIS 101.1 earlier today. This is very important for all the mums & dads that are supervise drivers for a Learner driver. Please remember to this every time you exit a round about no matter what the size. Drivers can be roughly split into two camps: those who indicate leaving a roundabout correctly, and those who don't.... But regardless of what you think the proper technique is, the law states that you HAVE to chuck your indicator on before you turn off - even if you're going straight ahead. Yes, that's right. It doesn't matter if you're taking the first exit, last exit or the one directly in front of you. You must, must MUST hit your indicator. If you don't, you could face a $180 fine, in your handbook it says; not giving left change of direction signal - namely exiting a roundabout - will set you back a couple of hundred dollars and two demerit points. And since we all have at least one mate who insists it doesn't matter, we'd recommend giving them the heads up about this one. That's one nasty fine for such a nice thing to do. See more

19.01.2022 The NSW Government has announced changes to the graduated licencing scheme for learner, P1 and P2 drivers. From December, all P-plate drivers will be banned from using their mobile phones - even in hands free mode. P-platers will also be held back from progressing to an unrestricted licence when caught speeding or when they receive a suspension for demerit points or higher risk offences. Full details of the changes are below.

17.01.2022 NSW Ls & Ps changes are coming & also for those Ls that are thinking of jumping the border to get your licence, make sure you read up. From 20 November 2017, new rules will take effect in relation to learner and provisional one and two drivers. The following changes will effect how you progress from Learners Licence to Full Licence: Learner drivers will have to pass a Hazard Perception test before progressing to their provisional one licence;... Provisional one drivers will no longer have to pass the Hazard Perception test to progress to Provisional two licence. However, you must pass the Hazard Perception Test before you are issued with your provisional one licence, and must hold your provisional one licence for at least 12 months, then you can apply for your provisional two licence without taking a test; Provisional two drivers will no longer need to pass the Driver Qualification Test to progress to an unrestricted licence; and Each time a Provisional two driver receives a suspended drivers licence they will gain a six months increase (each time) which means, they will remain on their Provisional 2 licence. Please note: the above rules will ONLY apply to individuals who receive their learner licence AFTER 20 November 2017. If you have obtained your licence prior to this date, the current driver scheme will remain effective. For further information please click the dollowing link: http://www.rms.nsw.gov.au//licence/driver/get-driver-licen The abovementioned changes, to the licencing scheme for learner, provisional one and two licence holders, are being introduced to reduce serious injuries, deaths on the road and to better prepare drivers for real-world road hazards.

17.01.2022 Why would you do this, after getting your licence, now you will have to go back relying on Mum or Dad, if not then public transport. The problem is when you do stupid things like this you it may also cost you your job, as well as the hefty fine plus losing your licence. Why do it in the first place? Driving 40kms over the limit can often lead to ASTRA-nomical consequences #vicpolice #don'tspeed #itain'tworthit

13.01.2022 DON'T EVER TAKE THE RISK OF WHAT THIS P PLATTER HAS DONE. Acting Sergeant Owen Clarke says police will be out in force over the holiday period in a bid to ensure driver safety. A DANGEROUS driver is off the road after ticking every one of the boxes for bad behaviour on the road.... The 20-year-old, who has only a probationary licence, was drunk, on drugs and speeding when he overtook an unmarked police car in Wodonga on Sunday afternoon. Acting Sergeant Owen Clarke said the mans licence was immediately suspended and his car impounded after the incident on Anzac Parade. If I was to spell out a perfect cocktail for road trauma, theyre the perfect ingredients, he said of the mans offences. The driver had sped past the police car at 145km/h in a 80km/h zone. After being taken to to the police station, he returned an alcohol reading of 0.163. Thats more than three times the limit for fully licensed drivers, but P-platers have a zero-alcohol limit. The man also returned a positive roadside test to an illegal drug, with police awaiting the outcome of further tests. Acting Sergeant Clarke said the man would be charged with speeding and a special combination offence for those caught above the alcohol limit with drugs in their system. At 65km/h over the limit, hes a complete disaster waiting to happen, he said. Anzac Parade, at that hour of the night, has a lot of traffic with people coming back from the weir. Nobody, nobody is expecting someone travelling 65km/h over the limit speed limit, let alone someone three times the alcohol limit with drugs in their system. His car was impounded and his licence was suspended immediately. Victorian police officers test anyone caught drink-driving for the presence of drugs. The incident came ahead of a major holiday road safety operation which will run for more than three weeks. The Victorian Operation Roadwise will start on Friday and run until January 7. Acting Sergeant Owen Clarke said drivers could expect police in as many places as we can physically be for the entire period. There are a lot of people on the roads over the Christmas period, he said. Everybody has places to be, everyone has loved ones they want to catch up with. Id urge people to just take it easy and exhibit some common sense. We want to make sure that everyone makes it home. NSW officers will also announce details of their annual Operation Safe Arrival on Wednesday. NSW traffic operations have double demerit points. Acting Sergeant Clarke urged people to plan their trips, including the breaks they will take. "Set yourself up to have a good holiday and make it home, he said

12.01.2022 Great news today for safe drivers who are under the age of 21. From February 1, the Free Licence Scheme will reward those who complete their red and green Ps without any traffic offences, with a free three year licence. This is a strong incentive to build safe habits when driving from a young age, and keep Victoria at the forefront of road safety.

06.01.2022 The advertisements are not lies! A young male P plater last night had the sudden realisation that fatigue can kill. After being told by his parents to take a... swag and sleep the night at his brothers house after a gathering, he decided to drive home. Around 2am whilst travelling south on the Hume Highway through Albury, he fell asleep at the wheel. Luckily for him, and his family, his car struck a wire rope safety barrier separating his vehicle from the oncoming traffic lanes and stopped his car safely. His parents received a call which every parent dreads - this time with good news. Wake up to the fact people - fatigue kills! See more

06.01.2022 These ads have been running for many years i remember them from when i received my licence in 1988 have even lost a couple of people as a result of someone doing some of things in thesis ads & still people manage not to take care out there on the roads. This may be graphic for some but i encourage all young drivers out there over this christmas break- take care of one another be responsible for one another- make sure if you are going to have a drink make sure you have a drive buddy who is not drinking to drive you home. Also remember double the fine double the demerit points of the holidays.

06.01.2022 Please everyone take notice how dangerous this can be, a simple stretch of legs & end up so badly.
