24.01.2022 Working from home during extended school holidays?! Thought we’d put together some of our favourite spaces for working from home from our recent projects. Dedicated spaces with natural light, warm materials and oh yeah, wi-fi! . This is Beyond House @peterbbennetts @truewoodconstructions and awesome balustrade and metalwork by @artweldaustralia #australianarchitecture #workingfromhome #northcotearchitecture #roofdeck

24.01.2022 Interior design images complete and ready for cabinetry to commence at Henry st, Northcote. Built-in & customised furniture complement the architecture and make the compact footprint feel spacious. Great images and design by project architect @jenniferpayette with @thenorthcotestylist .

23.01.2022 Super excited about this new collaboration with @buildhercollective ! Two new houses in Fairfield . Like two siblings, these houses have shared values but distinct personalities. Both are designed around passive solar principles, using a central courtyard and high ceiling to bring in warming winter sun and facilitate cross ventilation. But they each address the street in their own unique way: One is open and extroverted, the other is more reserved, but still exudes a quiet confidence. @timshallue #northcotearchitecture #northcotearchitect #fairfieldarchitect #fairfieldarchitecture #bcasketchdesign #sketchdesign @ Fairfield, Victoria

22.01.2022 Lovely extension to a cute little house in Murrumbeena. Using the subtle curves of the original facade as inspiration for some bigger curved gestures at that back that help share space, bring in natural light and warming winter sun. #bcadetaileddesign #australianarchitecture great work @jenniferpayette @milhindson and tahlia kite looking forward to seeing the landscape @sam.egan.gardens @ Murrumbeena, Victoria

22.01.2022 Through the Looking Glass - The trafficable glass floor brings natural light and warming sun through the upper level into the living rooms below. It also creates visual connection between the levels and to the sky and treetops of Curtain Square across the road. Reflective surfaces amplify the natural light creating a sense of space belying the narrow terrace dimensions. Natural materials bring a sense of warmth and reinforce the relationship with the natural world. Project Architect @timshallue. Built by CRD . @jack.lovel . styling @thenorthcotestylist & @thestylingkind .

21.01.2022 Our recently completed Paperback House: a sanctuary for two publishers who frequently work from home and their young family, connecting them with each other and their environment. The layout and form facilitates interaction with the elements for natural comfort and wellbeing. The ground level is open and transparent flowing outside, encouraging play while making the modest footprint feel larger. The floating upper level by contrast is solid and opaque, carved from charred bla...ck hardwood. Up there we respond to a different context requiring privacy and shade. The form cantilevers to provide summer shade to the rooms below while letting in low winter sun. Inside, translucent surfaces attenuate glare while maintaining the benefits of passive solar gain. @derek_swalwell styling @thenorthcotestylist & @thestylingkind @timshallue @truewoodconstructions @ecotimbergroup @radialtimber @sam.egan.gardens @chris.cabinets @artweldaustralia @somblinds #australianarchitecture #paperbackhouse #northcotearchitecture #northcotearchitect #charred See more

19.01.2022 Along with Architects Declare and Architects Act: Step one in our 2020 aim to be carbon neutral is to switch to 100% Certified GreenPower by the end of this month. Not all energy providers provide a green energy option, some say they used to, but the market demand wasn’t there. We need to create the demand! There are providers who do supply certified green energy, a quick google search gives you the options. Going green means using energy that doesn’t release carbon emissions, reducing your carbon footprint and supporting renewable energy development. Win, win! 13.01.2022 Design 3D’s of our proposed addition to a heritage californian bungalow in East Brunswick. On a block oriented north to the front, we’ve proposed to insert a new curved courtyard to bring sunlight into the living rooms at the rear. Making a great family home for our clients yearning for a more sustainable home and lifestyle. 13.01.2022 Our house recently photographed by @anthonyrichardson_ The void space connects us with the warming winter sun while being shaded in summer by the ornamental grape vine. The seat made by @chris.cabinets has a drawer for each of us - school bags and shoes sorted #australianarchitecture #australianarchitect #northcotearchitecture #northcotearchitect #greenliving

12.01.2022 Snippet from @simple_dwelling video of Elemental House by @anthonyrichardson_ . Link in bio. Two years later it’s going grey gracefully and settling into the landscape quietly. @keenan_built @timshallue #elementalhouse #offgrid #offgridliving #sustainablehome #sustainableliving #greenarchitecture #ecohouse #australianarchitecture #architecture #timberarchitecture #sustainability

11.01.2022 Through the Looking Glass - a little heritage terrace in Carlton North with unexpected brightness, spaciousness & connection to the world beyond. On a 5m wide, 120m2 block, oriented north to the front, with neighbouring walls on both side boundaries, getting sunlight in is difficult! . But that’s what we love to do. A trafficable glass floor brings natural light and warming sun through the upper level into the living rooms below. Reflective surfaces amplify the natural light creating a sense of space belying the narrow terrace dimensions. Natural materials bring a sense of warmth and reinforce the relationship with the natural world. Project Architect @timshallue. 11.01.2022 Developing design of an exciting new house in Northcote with a dedicated yoga mezzanine that embraces its treetop surrounds, providing the perfect sanctuary for practice. #detaileddesign #bcadetaileddesign #northcotearchitect #northcotearchitecture #yogaarchitecture

11.01.2022 Very excited about this extension to a little heritage house in Northcote with a focus on sustainable materials. Using all timber structure, flooring and windows, there will be no steel, no aluminium and just a little bit of concrete. The exposed feature truss expresses these ideals while opening up the corner sliding doors onto the deck, expanding the compact footprint. The form draws inspiration from the pitched roof of the old part of the house, using a vaulted ceiling to create a sense of space and connecting with the pergola. Here deciduous vines provides an outdoor room that is sunny and warm in winter and shaded and cool in summer. @jenniferpayette #sustainablearchitecture #sustainablehouse #greendesign #bcadetaileddesign #detaileddesign #northcotearchitecture #northcotearchitect @ Northcote, Victoria

07.01.2022 Through the Looking Glass - The glass floor is adjacent to north-facing windows & doors that open onto a roof deck carved out of the heritage roofline and tucked behind the parapet to not be seen from the street. It creates a visual connection between the levels and towards the treetops of Curtain Square across the road and the sky beyond. Project Architect @timshallue. 07.01.2022 Timber slats just installed, angled to block out summer sun, let in winter sun and also prevent overlooking into neighbouring properties. And the delicate feel of the natural material helps connect with treetops beyond. @keenan_built @timshallue #timberslats #northcotearchitecture #northcotearchitect #australianarchitecture

06.01.2022 Detailed design images of an extension for a family of 5 in Kensington that considers the changing work environment we’ve all encountered in the last year - and our evolving work patterns for the future. . With multiple family members working from home at the same time, a study nook is no longer enough! But with compact house footprints nor can we have multiple rooms for each family member to have a dedicated home office! So flexible working and living spaces is the key. An open plan kitchen/meals/living room, with a study nook, connects to a flexible home office/second living/piano room/guest bedroom. Sliding doors allow the spaces to be secluded when required (noisy zoom meeting!) , but also open up to share the beautiful natural light and views to parkland at the rear.

03.01.2022 Paperback House: a sanctuary for two publishers who frequently work from home and their young family. This double-sided bookshelf celebrates our clients’ literary vocation at the centre of the home. Being semi-transparent, it links this Library/Study with the Living rooms adjacent and the Rumpus room above. It provides the parents and kids a secluded space to work or relax, during and after business hours, while still connected with their family. Natural materials combine wit...h translucent and reflective surfaces to accentuate the soft light, creating a calm relaxing ambience perfect for reading-for work or relaxation. @derek_swalwell styling @thenorthcotestylist & @thestylingkind @timshallue @truewoodconstructions @ecotimbergroup @radialtimber @sam.egan.gardens @chris.cabinets @artweldaustralia @somblinds #australianarchitecture #paperbackhouse See more
