23.01.2022 Wowee we had a cracking day at Eildon yesterday boating 17 yellas with Mick! Most the fish were caught using the berkley Powerbait 2.5 Power Grub in Black and Berkleys new rub on Gulp Gel. One was caught on a 65mm fish trap in purple/ orange. Fish were found off points in 4-8m around the Brankeet arm. ... More info, pick and vids to come in the weekly report!

21.01.2022 Fishing Report: 12/6/20. Hope everyone got a chance to get out over the long weekend as the weather was superb. The fishing was great for some but slow for others.... Dartmouth Dam: 50.61% up 0.15% this week. Dart was very consistent for anglers over the long weekend with most boats landing between 4-12 fish a day, some even better. Flatline and leadcore was still the all round best way to catch a fish using tassie devils. Colour wise it was quiet broad. Corroboree #97 and the normal frog #50 were great as were harlequin #39, pretty fish #63, kg special #127 and Canberra killer #y82. The best way to figure it out is to consistently change lures every 15-20 min to maximise the daily success. Cowbells and worms also worked a treat when it got a bit quiet on the winged lures. A few were also picked up casting Bullet lures into the bank so a few of the smaller arms. All in all it’s fishing great! Lake Eildon: 45.20% up 0.55% The trout fishing over the last week has been less than ideal unfortunately with most anglers iv talked to only landing 1-3 fish for the day and the size is predominantly 30-40cm range, pinks and whites are still being used the most but don’t be afraid to use a double clutch or a bigger bibbed Minnow to see if it stirs the pot. The cod fishing on the other hand has been exceptional with many meter cod being picked up on the surface and a few mid water. A nice 2-4 piece surface lure and a brisk 4-5am start will help a lot more as it seems to be better in the morning rather than evening. Fluro hardbodies and spinnerbait are also worth a troll as the day progresses and your tired of hanging off the big rods. The yellas are still around and still hanging in the trees. We managed another 6 yellas gulping trees in the Delatite arm on Monday. Utilise side imaging if you have it to pick out the better trees to target. The Redfin are still very spookish with schools of fish dispersing when you drop a lure on them. Hopefully they start to play the game! Lake Nillahcootie 56.74% up 1.24% All I heard from nillah on the weekend was 1 32cm yella caught off the bank on worms. If anyone else did any good comment below. Hume is still dirty but on the rise, those big trout are in there. Maybe troll a few bibbed minnows with a mild rattle to entice a bite William Hovell was apparently very busy and one angler I did talk to landed 2 small brown off the bank on worms early in the day but struggled as the day went on. Waranga has risen around 20% in the last month and could bring some big winter reddies on the bite, but always remember trout check the weather if you want to fish it. Just a reminder that the trout streams are now closed and won’t open til the 4th of October.
20.01.2022 More Stockings for the local area! Great work for everyone that was involved

18.01.2022 Benalla Bait & Tackle Spinnerbait Launch! Our project for this year was to establish out very own made in shop spinnerbait. We wanted to be able to make them the way we wanted them utilising premium components like gamakatsu hooks and storm and Berkley soft plastics. We can also make almost any colour you could imagine so if you have had a colour you have always wanted to try come in and we will make it. We also run a light gauge wire underneath the skirt band so if or when the band perishes the wire will hold the skirt together so it can be re banded in the shop. Come in and check them out! We are also open until 7pm for all your Cod Opening Eve needs!
17.01.2022 Fishing Report: 25/09/20 Gday Fisho’s, We hope you are all well and getting out for a fish if you allowed. The fishing locally has been quite consistent!... Lake Nillahcootie: 95.14% up 0.78% this week. Nillah has been the big mover with the bank fishing starting to show some good numbers of yellowbelly. 90% of the fish are getting caught on worms off the bank. When doing this try and use circle hooks or crush the barb on the bait holders to make it easier to get the hooks out as the bite has been quite soft. Move around the lake if your not getting a bit as they seem to be in patches. The trollers have done the kms with quieter results, this will improve as we see the lake temp increase but for now they are in the shallows and lazy. The Codger and rmg have both been successful lures in red/ black and orange/green. Hopefully see the lake hit 100% with the rain it’s had the last few day! Normally when the lakes full we have great fishing there and in the river over the summer. Lake Eildon: 59.04% up 0.61% this week. Rising nicely and we hope it continues through spring! The fishing is definitely on the improve with the numbers of trout being caught way better than in winter. Reports have varied but orange, white, pink and silver tassies all catching fish. Cowbells/ ford fenders and worms have been good too along with putting a dodger in front of a tassie. The yellas are starting to show up a bit more frequently around the Delatite arm. A few have been picked up trolling ac invaders and halco crazy deeps. Baitfishing around the trees has been quiet as the reddies haven’t been playing the game and the yellas seem to be higher up on the trees taking slow rolled black gulps. Lake Dartmouth: 56.25% up 0.35% this week We had a few keen locals race up to dart when the allowed it and all had success. On the trolling side of things the best tassies were pink frog, Phosphorous pearl, smashing pumpkin, harlequin and Canberra killer. Seems like it it has white on it it should work. Cowbells and worms also accounted for a lot of fish. Most fish were caught flatlining with a few on the downrigger at 35ft and 3 colours of leadcore. Some casted the banks and reported a lot of follows but just couldn’t get them to hook up. This will only improve as it gets warmer!! Looks like Humes showing some great signs on the Redfin and yellowbelly front getting them on blades and soft vibes. Haven’t heard of many trout getting trolled up but I’m sure they are about. I’ll hopefully have a great report for Hume next week. Hume is at 66.09% rising 1.05%. Waranga is around 90% but I think the wind has kept the fishing quiet unfortunately as it normally fished really well early spring. If you do decide to head over that way make sure to check the forecast as it’s a dangerous lake when the wind is up. Stay safe and good luck!
