25.01.2022 Hello! Another winter is gone and...cricket is just about back. Yep it's time to gear up for another super summer of Milo In2Cricket and T20 Blast! Time flies. There's been some major changes to this year's program - changes for the best I think you will agree.... The main change is that both programs (In2cricket & T20 Blast) will no longer run on a Saturday morning at the Arundel Street Ovals - this year they will run on a Friday evening at the beautiful Benalla Gardens Oval - there is nowhere better in the North East to play cricket than the gardens. Play will start around 5 and go through to around 6.30 on Friday evenings, this will give families and friends the opportunity to come down to the gardens and watch our future stars learn and play this great game - a great opportunity to have a picnic or fish & chips while the participants slog it out. The gardens also provide a much better location in terms of shade, amenities and overall atmosphere. And Saturday mornings will be free. We have also talked about maybe having a hit under lights on a Friday night at the showgrounds - stay tuned regarding that. Next Friday, September 16, there will be a 'registration night' held at the gardens oval from 5 pm onwards - no actual registrations will be taken at this time, it's more an information session where you can meet the coaches / coordinators, ask questions, express ideas etc. We can take you through the on line registration process as well if you're having trouble with it. There will be a BBQ going and gear will be there for the kids to have a hit if they want to. All welcome. The other main change this year is that offline payments are no longer accepted - all registrations are done online and payment made at that time. We can't order packs for the participants until payment is made - there was issues with that last year so offline payments are no more - apologies for any inconvenience, but there is plenty of time to register and pay (although please don't leave it until the last minute otherwise packs may not get ordered in time for the season opener...) We intend to kick off on Friday, November 25 and registrations ARE NOW OPEN - go to; - www.playcricket.com.au - Click 'sign up today' - Enter "Benalla' in the search box - Benalla Junior Cricket Association will come up, that's what you want, so click 'next' - choose Milo In2cricket or T20 Blast to register and just follow the steps through. It's pretty easy. Welcome back to another summer of cricket !

25.01.2022 Thanks for the feedback guys - an early start is a good idea but Catherine is right, there is no way of letting everyone know of an early start so I think people would still be showing up at 9 am as usual having not known that we've started at 8.30... So - I propose that we'll start normal time - as per option 3 below - see who turns up and take it from there. If numbers are low we'll have a scratch match then have the icy poles and raffle - again if kids are kept at home due to the heat I have no issue with that - ALL registered players will go into the draw for the bat and if the winner isn't there I'll get the bat to him or her no dramas. See you in the morning....plenty of water and sun screen!

25.01.2022 Guys I have received notice today that due to unforeseen circumstances we are now without our In2cricket coordinator...tomorrow will be a bit of a shambles as a result....we will be flying by the seat of our pants. Anyone who would like to take the role on please let me know. Thank you.

25.01.2022 HURRICAAAAAANNEESS!!!! Well done guys - undefeated all year so probably deserved it really. Overall I'd like to say thank you T20 cricketers for the way you have conducted yourselves this season. As I said today you have played in great spirit and with great sportsmanship all year. Not once did I witness a display of poor behaviour (except Parma's tantrum when Montel knocked his coffee over) or sportsmanship. You are a group of well mannered and respectful cricketers and it h...as been a pleasure. Says a great deal about kids who play sport, does it not? You are all a credit to yourselves and your families. Hope to see you ALL again next year - bring some friends along and let's make it bigger and better. A massive thank you goes out to Glenn, Mitch, Luke, Shane and Woodsy - it just doesn't happen without the team managers so thanks to you guys and great job. Thanks also to the other parent volunteers who chipped in during the year. See you in the morning for our curtain raiser at 11 am followed by the sausage sizzle - who knows - there may be a couple of other give-aways to raffle off also! Yours in cricket, Spokesy

25.01.2022 G'day all - the plan for T20 at this very minute is to turn up and see who braves the weather! I've been down to look at the ground and it's damp but we could crack on if we get the numbers. If it rains again we might be in trouble but we'll wait and see....

24.01.2022 Welcome to the new year In2cricketers and T20 blasters - last Friday saw us kick off 2017 resuming battle at the gardens oval. Numbers were down a bit so we were reduced to 1 game instead of 2 - 1 game is better than no game though! Two combined sides clashed in the big game - Strikers captained by Rohan batted first and ground out a respectable 170 from their allotted overs. Everyone contributed with Blake top scoring, ably assisted by Lucas, Aiden, Mitch, Seth, Sam and skip...per Rohan. Stars led by Bayleigh replied with a match winning 233. Again all batters contributed with the skipper top scoring and again being well supported by Hamish, Ben, Cody, Bryce, Kai, Tom and James. Awesome stuff. This weekend is the Australia Day long weekend, which may see some players still away, but we will go on as scheduled anyway so until then - over and out....or not out... See more

24.01.2022 Hi all In2cricket and T20 champions; A more detailed post will be coming soon regarding the upcoming summer, but in the meantime; Please DON'T register online just yet as there is an issue with online payments that needs to be ironed out. When it is, I'll let you know and it'll be all go.... Talk soon. ;)

24.01.2022 There's been a few inquiries of late asking is the program going ahead? - the answer is YES. Our numbers are down a bit from last year with the kids graduating to U/12's and the like, but we have enough regos to justify a start. It will just mean that each week will most likely be a scratch match as we probably won't have the numbers to formulate a structured draw / ladder system etc. But a scratch match is better than no match and we'll still have some fun - the structured ...draws and ladders will come soon enough in junior comp. All packs (T20 Blast and In2cricket) have been ordered and have arrived so will be there ready for the start. There's a few new names on the list and a mix of boys and girls which is great news. SO - 5 pm Friday @ the beautiful gardens oval. See you there. Any last minute thoughts or suggestions welcome. Cheers.

23.01.2022 Thanks everyone for making the effort to come down this morning ~ the dodgy weather didn't stop us getting a start in the T20 games but we got a bit wet as the morning went on. I think everyone would agree it's fun to play cricket in the rain but when the safety of the players becomes an issue it's time to stop. Sorry to pull the pin guys but we don't want to see anyone getting hurt out there. It was good that we got to run around a bit before the rain beat us at least.... Not to worry - we'll play today's games again next week. See you then.

21.01.2022 Fantastic news courtesy of Cricket Victoria; There are four girls registered in Milo T20 - they have been invited to the Women's Big Bash game (Sydney Thunder v Melbourne Stars) in Lavington next Tuesday. All four have accepted the invitation. They'll get to run onto the park with the players, get presented with a Stars cap and be allowed access into the players room with a parent. What a fantastic opportunity. So - Isobel, Matilda, Jamillia and Emma I'll have your tickets ready to give to you tomorrow night - enjoy the game and make sure mum or dad takes some photos to put on the Facebook page!

21.01.2022 Last Friday's action saw two games kick off together with the Renegades led by Aiden Farmer take on the Hurricanes with Seth Arnold at the helm. Over the road the Hamish Willett led Thunder took on Scorchers skippered by Lucas Ham. The results of the games was affected by a bit of confusion - there were some players who weren't quite sure where they were supposed to be which led to a couple of players playing for teams they weren't in, leaving their own team short and another... too full! Hopefully this week we'll sort all that out and make absolutely sure that everyone is on the right ground playing for the right team. We don't want results that are too one sided if we can help it. So - Renegades knocked up a massive 7/330 from their allotted overs with skipper Aiden Farmer and Emma Griffiths knocking up scores of 60+. Hurricanes did the best they could with an undermanned outfit and replied with 5/200 - Lochie Duggan and Seth Arnold led the way with the bat. Good stuff. Thunder (batting two short) did very well to knock up 2/94 - hopefully next week they'll be back to full strength and will push well past 100. Bayleigh Dervish just missed out on a half century with 49. Scorchers took the cake in this one with 4/148. Blake Spokes and skipper Lucas Ham in a strong rear guard partnership of 70. There might be a couple of extras along for next week with Archie Stevens joining us and at least one other possibly. This will boost numbers in a couple of the teams and even things right out hopefully. This week we'll make sure that everyone is were they're meant to be and we should see much closer games. MVP (Milo Valuable Player) for this week - Adrian Ashton for his caring approach to helping a much younger player with his batting grip and Lucas Ham who I am told was very encouraging toward his team mates. Thank you - Rick Willett for as usual putting his hand up, Brendan Duncombe, Brent Wallace, Jordan Smith and Peter Keen for coming down to help out with the kids. If anyone else was about that I missed I'm sorry but thank you as well. Cheers!

20.01.2022 G'day Milo cricketers - back to school this week? No doubt you are all very excited about that. Friday night was a bit of a different format than usual, with numbers still down a bit we combined the T20 Blasters with the In2cricketers for a game involving all Milo cricketers. The two combined sides were Scorchers and Sixers, and the day before the BBL final produced a result that was much closer than the actual final that's for sure. Sixers got over the line by one run - 149 ...v 148 - a nail biter. What was also very evident was the fantastic positive mentoring behaviour we saw from the T20 blasters - they were very welcoming and helpful toward their much younger counterparts which was great to see and they should all be proud of themselves. The In2cricketers also showed the benefits they are reaping from their program, with quite a few of them taking it right up to the bigger kids - super stuff that. With school back this week, numbers will hopefully be boosted a bit - there's only 3 weeks to go so get down there guys! I'll be in Melbourne this Friday recovering from the Springsteen concert on Thursday night but the great man Brendan Duncombe @ Duncs will step into the fold and seamlessly transition and run the show. Thanks again Duncs your assistance is appreciated as always. Cheers and two centres thanks.

19.01.2022 Evening all ~ hope the weekend is going along nicely for everyone. Just a quick report on last night's action; With the IN2 cricket coordinator away, the In2 cricketers once again stepped up and joined in with the T20ers for a couple of big bash games. Scorchers led by Isaac smashed a massive 205, and Strikers with Cody at the helm couldn't quite reel it in, but put up a great fight in their chase. Over the road, it was a very tight affair with only 6 runs separating the two... teams in the end... Thunder finished up with 112 and were just pipped by Renegades on 118. Nail biter. That was the last of our proper games for this season - next week is our break up - come down for a free for all game, get mum and dad or whoever you like in on the action, and take time out for a BBQ snag in bread as well. To those T20ers finishing up this year and moving up into the junior ranks - good luck and it has been a pleasure having you. To the IN2ers coming up to T20 - WELCOME! And finally - next season will see the need for a replacement T20 coordinator as I will follow my son into the junior ranks - please if you are interested in taking on the role, or know of somebody who may be - let me know ASAP. It is not a difficult job and it has been very rewarding to witness the development of a fine young group of cricketers for the last three years. It would be a terrible shame if the program did not continue into next season - the development and future of our young stars lies in the hands of volunteers.....just sayin'... And with that food for thought - see you on Friday!

19.01.2022 Another exciting round of matches last Friday - once again played in great spirit and fun with runs aplenty across the two grounds. Thunder took on Renegades in a high scoring and nail biting match - in the end only eight runs separated the two sides. Thunder knocked up 220 from their overs with everyone - Kai, Hamish, Bayleigh, Tom and Bryce all scoring impressively. Renegades fell JUST short with 212 runs. Again, everyone - Adrian, Archie (Stanford) , Aiden, Sam, Jamillia a...nd Lochy all contributed with the bat. MVP's for the game were Aiden Farmer and Hamish Willett. Over the road,Hurricanes and Scorchers did battle - Hurricanes managed 128 with Archie (Stevens) knocking up 32. Angus, Rohan, Trevor, Xavier, Seth and Mitchell all did their part with the bat as well. Scorchers won out on the day with 175. Blake knocked up a 50, with James, Lucas, Isobel, Ben, Owen and Gideon all chipping in. MVP's - Owen Pollard and Archie Stevens. Next week is our last game before Christmas - Brendan Duncombe will be the man in charge on Friday and we all thank him very much for his continued support and assistance. Great stuff Duncs. Lastly - to Emma, Jamillia, Isobel and Matilda - have great time at the Big Bash on Tuesday - you never know some or all of you might be wearing the Stars shirt one day in the BBL!

18.01.2022 Hello all junior champions. Just checking in with a friendly reminder; we kick off on November 21 for both Milo in2Cricket and T20 Blast. If you intend to register your budding cricketer could I ask 1 thing of you - please do so sooner than later if you are able. I understand coin must be parted with and I understand this can be difficult - what I will say is there is an option to register 'offline' which I'm fairly sure allows the option for payment at a later date but still... allows registration of the young champion. Go to www.playcricket.com.au and register away. The reason for registering earlier than later? I need to order packs for the kids, with their shirts and hats AND I'd like to sort them into teams ASAP also. The sooner I know who is in the easier it is. It would be good for all participants to arrive day 1 to have their packs waiting for them. I'll hold off another week or so before ordering, but if you are intending to register or know of someone who is intending to register - please put those wheels in motion. Over and out for now - will post again soon however - please SHARE this post with all and sundry - let's get the kids on board with the best summer sport ON THE PLANET. See more

18.01.2022 Don't forget - tonight from 5 onwards come on down to the picturesque gardens oval for a muck around hit and a bbq - hopefully the rain holds off for five minutes. Meet the coordinators and helpers, have a hit with the kids and ask any questions you might have. If you know anyone who's thinking about signing up bring them along. ALL WELCOME.

17.01.2022 Last Friday evening saw us kick off another Milo summer - with around 50 registrations all up it wasn't a bad turnout. A lot of returning, familiar faces and a lot of new faces too which was great to see. After a few first night glitches we got going pretty quickly and hopefully a good night was had by all. The In2 cricketers once again led by Fiona Ham were put through their paces in the shade at the gardens while the T20ers had their first hit out for the year. Scorchers le...d by Trevor Lansley batted first and posted a very healthy 173 from their allotted overs. Everyone batted really well with Tom G leading the way with 42. Heat led by Sam Woodstock followed up and made a good fist of the run chase, but fell just short with 114. Emma G (those Griffith kids have been practising) top scored with 34. Great stuff Emma. It was great to see all the new faces in T20, and also great to see the way the retuning players made the new ones welcome and helped them out with their first hit of T20. This week we'll hopefully get into the game much quicker, and batting pairs will have a bit longer at the crease which will see some high scoring for sure. Don't forget - this week all make sure you have your Milo shirts on and we'll all get together for a group photo (those that want to that is). Have a good week - see you Friday night.

16.01.2022 Guys I have received an email from Libby from the Benalla Ensign. The paper is going to run a story about our stolen gear - it won't be in this weeks' paper but should be right for next week. I'm meeting her down at the ground in the morning to talk to her. She would like a photo for the paper - any T20er who would like to come down and be part of the photo please do so - 10 am down at the ground tomorrow (Wednesday 19th Jan). Don't be late! PLEASE WEAR YOUR T20 SHIRT AND CAP.... In2cricketers - you too if you want to come and be part of the photo in your yellow tops you are more than welcome.

16.01.2022 Welcome back everyone; after a bit of a hiccup we managed to kick the year off on Saturday morning with a bit of running around and a few games. It was good to see the parents getting involved and enjoying themselves along with the young cricketers. with luck this might help to set a foundation for continued parent involvement - it is welcomed and encouraged. By next week hopefully we will have a new In2cricket coordinator, to be announced when it is confirmed. Stand by. T20'...ers by next week you will be in teams and ready to kick off with the first game of the year. Given that numbers are down a bit it may only be a 2 team comp at the moment, but you will still get a game each week so it's all good. If you know of any one who was thinking of but has not registered yet - it's not too late! We can still bump those numbers up. It was great to see Jess from the Benalla Ensign down there on Saturday, thanks Jess. Remember to let me know if you do not want images of your child (ren) posted on this page, as new photos of the action will be posted as of next week. Any questions or issues, please let me know. until next time over and out.

16.01.2022 Hi all, A bit of feedback required please; IMPORTANT; A few later registrations have pushed the T20 number s up to 24 (as of today). This leave us with 2 options - we continue with TWO teams of 12 and play ONE longer game (much more down time) OR split into FOUR teams of 6 and play two simultaneous shorter games. This would allow a rotating comp with ladder system.... I think the 2 shorter games would be better and there would be less down time. It would mean, however, that I would need a parent / helper to score & umpire the other game - not a difficult job. SO - what do you think and what do the young cricketers think - please ask them because at the end of the day it's about them after all! let me know before Friday. Cheers.

15.01.2022 18/12/15 - Just a preview to tomorrow guys: Given the extreme heat predicted I'd like a bit of feedback on how we proceed tomorrow. We are back on the Arundel St Ovals due to junior games being held at the show grounds AND Gardens Oval. Shade and facilities at the Arundel St Ovals are limited (non existent) therefore the options as I see them are: 1. Proceed as normal.... 2. Cancel due to extreme heat. 3. Wait and see who turns up (and I won't be critical of any parents who keep a child home in these conditions) and have a scratch match if there isn't enough there for the 2 full games. 4. Go to the Gardens, sit under a tree and have an icy pole and draw the cricket bat raffle there (the raffle will get drawn regardless of which option we go with). Any other suggestions are welcomed, and feedback on preferred options welcomed ~ please let me know what you think... Cheers!

14.01.2022 By the way Milo cricketers - a green Tupperware drink bottle was left behind yesterday - I know that Tupperware is NOT cheap so I've brought it home and will bring it back next week. If it's yours let me know or just come and see me on the weekend.

14.01.2022 Hello all In2cricket and T20 blasters; Another summer is almost upon us. Online payments are now up and running for registrations. Please note that ALL registrations for In2 Cricket and T20 Blast are now online; no registrations or money will be handled by coordinators.... Online registration is easy - get onto the ‘playcricket’ website and basically follow your nose through the process. Click on; * sign up today * 'where can I play?' * Search for 'Benalla' * Click on 'Benalla Junior Cricket Association' (BJCA) * Click 'next' * Click on 'register' and choose either In2 Cricket or T20 blast. * Fill in the participant (child) details and parent details and register! As a general rule, In2cricket is for 5 to 9 year olds and T20 for 7 - 12 year olds. This is pretty flexible however, and is largely up to parents what program they register their child for. I would suggest that if the participant is a first timer and unfamiliar with the game, In2 Cricket is a great start to learn the skills of the game regardless of the participants age. Payment is made by credit card only it would appear. Participant packs will be forwarded to me and handed out when we start. You will get an email receipt when registration is complete. The website also has a list of FAQ, if you're not sure of something. Contact details for myself and Daniel (In2 cricket coach) are shown on the website. If you have a question or issue, and FAQ can't answer it feel free to drop us a line. We kick off on November 21 for a 9 week program, with a break over Christmas of course. As was the case last season, feedback and suggestions are welcomed and encouraged (constructive please). Cricket Australia has also kindly supplied us with some giveaways yet again, so all participants will have the chance to win themselves some fantastic prizes. Last season we were lucky enough to have invaluable parent volunteers helping out. The program doesn't run without that help. This season we will again need parents to assist - team managers / umpires / scorers and helpers to run skill exercises will again be sought. If you can help out please let us know as early as possible. Thank you. OK over to you - please pass this on to ANYONE who might be interested. Once again, this page will be the primary method of communication so encourage anyone with 5 - 12 year old budding cricketers to 'like' this page. Register away and see you soon!

13.01.2022 Sorry for the late notice guys ~ we'll be back on the main ground at the showies tomorrow. Fantastic. Thanks to Trevor Saker for letting me know.

13.01.2022 Just confirming T20 and In2cricketers - we are back on the main ground at the showies tomorrow - happy days.

13.01.2022 In T20 action yesterday the Hurricanes go into next weeks final UNDEFEATED with a pretty big win over a very undermanned Strikers. Now I can't give you the final scores because I don't know what I've done with the sheets...whoops.. Same goes for the game between Scorchers and Thunder - Mitch could yuo maybe help me out and post a result for me? Or anyone else who may know - sorry about that and thanks for the help!... At any rate next Saturday sees Hurricanes take on Scorchers in the main final and Strikers and Thunder play off in the consolation final. I think it goes without saying the final has to be played at the 'G and so the consolation final will be played over the road at Etihad. Don't forget about Sunday - but more on that later...

13.01.2022 Woah - I just realised we've hit 100 likes; that's a century in cricket terms (insert roar of massive crowd).

13.01.2022 G'day all; It's now only 4 short weeks until we are supposed to kick the season off. At the moment we are well short of the number of registrations we need to make the program viable - if we don't get AT LEAST 20 regos forT20 we can't justify running it, same with In2cricket. At the moment there's only about 10 for each. So - if you were intending to register your child OR if you know someone who was thinking about it - PLEASE sooner than later would be great. Also - we need... time to order participant packs (hat / shirt etc) in time for them to arrive for day 1. There's no cutoff for regos, but if it's left until the day before we start the young'un won't get their pack in time for the first hit out. So just a gentle push - if you're intending to register someone PLEASE do so soon (ish). Thanks in advance!

12.01.2022 6/2/16 - last official game of the season.. On the beautifully freshly cut showies (smelled great) we had our last official hit out for the year. At the Adelaide Oval Flynn Weeks captained Thunder and they amassed a massive 255, with Sam Cullen and Cooper Woods dominating with the bat, 56 and 54 apiece. Scorchers led by Cooper G knocked up a respectable 180, but it wasn't quite enough. The skipper made 40 and was ably supported by Harry Drury on 38.... At Etihad stadium it was a slightly lower scoring affair - heat led by Blake Batman scored 174 - Seth Arnold and Ethan Scipione getting amongst the runs. In reply, Strikers led by Steve Batman weren't quite up to the chase finishing with 121. The two Max's (Woods and Cullen) top scoring in a 51 run partnership. Congratulations and well done to you all and thank you to the parent and other helpers who have assisted us this season, we wouldn't have made it through without the help of everyone. We'll wrap up for the year next week - 10 am start for a kids VS parents hit of cricket - so get all mums and or dads down for a trundle - we'll follow this up with a sausage sizzle to finish the year off. Most likely at the Arundel St grounds but stay tuned for exact location. See you then!

12.01.2022 It was brought to my attention that the online regos were playing up - been onto the help desk and the issue is resolved - online rego is back up and running.

12.01.2022 By now everyone will be aware that our gear was stolen from the shed sometime over the Christmas break. The three kit bags full of all our equipment are gone. I'm truly sorry we had to call today off, but as we talked about I'll add another week to the draw so we'll finish up on FEBRUARY 13th, NOT THE 6TH - at least that way you guys don't miss a week of T20.... The theft of the gear has been reported to the police. Please share this far and wide and if anyone hears or knows of anything, you can call Crimestoppers (anonymously if you like) on 1800 333 000 OR Benalla Police on 5760 0200. Between now and next week I'll do my best to get some gear together - either way we'll play next week even if we're a few cones or stumps short. See you next Saturday guys.

12.01.2022 Who's pumped!!?? Finals action tomorrow!! Get a good night's sleep all you guys and we'll see you bright and early. Just remember nerves are good but don't stress because no matter what we'll all have a ball tomorrow and again on Sunday. Happy cricket days!

11.01.2022 Saturday November 28; In2cricketers had their first session under their new coordinator Fiona and by all reports things went very well. T20 saw the first game of the season - Strikers and Thunder fought it out at Adelaide Oval. Thunder won the toss under captain Nicholas Trethowan who had no hesitation in choosing to bat. It was shown to be a good decision as Thunder knocked up a healthy total of 301 - Ace Manger top scoring with 52.... Strikers chased hard and well but could not quite mow down the total falling just short on 264. Harrison Drury and Ethan Scipione both top scoring with 31 each. Great game guys and played in very good spirit and a lot of fun. Thanks goes to Mark Saunders and Keith Wrest for coming down to help out in the skill zone. With 2 new faces on Saturday next week we'll split into 4 teams instead of 2 - this will mean less down time and quicker game time as we finished a bit late yesterday. Again, well done to everyone who participated yesterday - see you next Saturday.

10.01.2022 It is with great pleasure that I am able to announce; Fiona Ham has taken on the role as In2cricket coordinator for the coming season - thank you Fiona ~ your willingness to step up in the Milo hour of need is greatly appreciated and valuable. I'm sure Fiona would appreciate all and any assistance she can get from other IN2cricket parents - please either let Fiona or myself know if you are able to assist her on a Saturday morning - it's not too onerous and very enjoyable.... Cheers!

10.01.2022 Looking forward to Milo T20 Blast and IN2 Cricket starting back tonight :) Here's a couple of photos from the end of season break-up for 2015/ 2016!

10.01.2022 Well guys yesterday was the close if another Milo season - I hope you all had a great summer and enjoyed yourselves - I'd like to think you did. Thank you all for the positive and enthusiastic way you participated in the program, It is pleasing to be involved with such young people who are so respectful and encouraging to each other. Thank you to Fiona for taking on the job as the In2cricket boss - she did a great job and we were lucky to have her.... Thank you to all the parents who helped out with scoring / umpiring / helping out with drills and anything else along the way. Thank you to the Benalla Bushies and Benalla Violet Town United clubs for helping out along the way (in particular Steve Pickering), and thank you to Cricket Victoria and the BJCA for their continued support. Thanks Lorraine for your help with the barbie yesterday! Congratulations to young Owen Pollard - the lucky winner of the 2013/14 signed Vic Bushies bat - he wasn't there to claim his prize but we'll get it to him. For all those T20 players moving up next season - good luck. To those returning please bring a friend next year (or two) and see if we can bump the numbers up a bit. For those In2cricketers joining us in T20 next year we look forward to having you. Stay tuned for some photos from yesterday - I didn't take any but Narelle is all over it - if they're as good as the last lot we'll be doing well. Enjoy footy season and see you in Summer.

08.01.2022 Hey all Benalla Milo In2cricketers and T20 blasters - just a reminder we are back this Friday 20th Jan at 5 pm. See you there!

08.01.2022 Welcome back to the new year - hopefully everyone had a good Christmas and new year - and have rested up ready to get into it again... We kick off again this Saturday (16th) at Arundel St - the showgrounds is being used by the U16's so we can't use the showies unfortunately. Not to worry - we'll be right, see you Saturday morning 9 am sharp!

08.01.2022 North East Knights and Cricket Victoria - what a bunch of legends! Let me take this opportunity also to thank EVERY SINGLE person, business or group who has offered support and donations to the cause. It is overwhelming - I'd like to thank every one of you individually but if I don't please accept this as a thank you of the most sincere kind. Also, if I try to name every source of support offered I might accidentally leave some one out and that is no good. So to ALL of you ;... THANK YOU from us and the T20 champions thank you too. We will be back on the deck next Saturday for sure. Just goes to show that when community and good people are needed they are ALWAYS there. I don't want to dwell too much on the individuals who stole our gear - who knows maybe they are not well off and desperately needed plastic and rubber children's' cricket equipment in order to survive.....with any luck at least one of the bags had a funnel web in it. Again - from the bottom of my and our cricketing heart ~ THANK YOU ALL.

08.01.2022 Looking forward to Saturday and the last round of matches T20 and IN2 Cricketers. Not just that, looking forward to Sunday and having a snag in bread and a bit of a hit on the always beautiful Benalla Gardens Oval. The senior games are starting a bit later than I thought - Trewin Shield kicks off at 12 which makes a 'half time' game and bbq a bit late in the day. With that in mind - I propose to start the day on Sunday at 11 am sharp - we can play a curtain raiser for the bi...g games! The equipment will be there for you guys to set up and go your hardest for an hour or so before the senior action - I'll spark the bbq up about 11.30 so by the time you've finished playing a sausage in bread with some sauce and onion (if you like onion) will be waiting. Is everyone ok with that? If there's any major issue please let me know - otherwise end of season break up kicks off 11 am sharp this Sunday. Woo hoo!! See more

07.01.2022 G'day all T20 Blast & In2cricketers; As we talked about last Saturday - come down for our last hit out for the season this Saturday Feb 13. We'll kick off a bit later at 10 am - sleep in - yeah. At this stage we'll be on the Arundel St Ovals (the showies is being used), down the lake end where the In2cricketers meet each week - T20 Blast and In2cricketers will all be together and In2cricketers please feel free to use the T20 equipment. Make sure mum or dad or both slop on the... zinc and Greg Chappell floppy hat because this is your chance to slap them around the park - that's right it's kids v parents time. Nothing structured or formal, much the same as last year - the gear will be there for you guys to use as you wish and have a hit with or against mum or dad. While that's going on the BBQ will be sizzling with some snags for you to enjoy after you have a hit. Might even throw in some onions and sauce... Also - we'll draw the lucky winner of the bat autographed by the 2013/14 Vic Bushrangers - an awesome prize for one lucky young cricketer to take home. Last year we had two members of one family win a bat each - you never know Steve that might be a sign...... See you Saturday morning! See more

07.01.2022 5/12/15 - report of today's action; Firstly I will say I think that today's action taking place on the main ground at the show grounds was a far better location - there was shade for the younger players and spectators and toilet facilities close by - I have been able to confirm that we are able to use the main ground from now on and so we will. From here on in we will all be at the main ground. Feedback I have received today is that most were happy with the main ground. The ...teams that were read out today will remain much the same for the rest of the year, unless there is any major issue or reason why they shouldn't. So onto today's action; Strikers captained by Tom Griffiths took on Thunder captained by Hamish Willett at the picturesque Adelaide oval. Strikers knocked up a respectable 145 with skipper Tommy G top scoring with 41. Max Cullen was next with 27, and all batsmen contributed well. Thunder responded in grand style with 185 to pinch the game. Bayleigh Dervish top scored with 46. Over at the 'G Scorchers captained by Will Botten took on Heat captained by Blake Spokes, who is incidentally currently under enquiry for attempted match fixing (bribing of match official). Scorchers batted first knocking up 158, with Ace Manger again top scoring with 46, ably supported by the rest of the batsmen. Heat responded in grand style belting 244 - Blake Batman notched his maiden half century closely followed by Ethan Scipione with 48. Well played everyone, yet again both games were played in good spirit with the focus on enjoyment and encouragement of your team mates. Well done also to Mikalyla Cole for winning the MVP (Milo Valuable Player) for last week. Thanks must once again go out to Mitch Cullen for without hesitation taking on the umpiring and scoring of the Scorchers and Thunder match. Another thank you also to Jordan Smith and Steve Pickering from the Benalla Bushrangers and Matt Holmes from Benalla Violet Town United cricket clubs for coming down to help out in the skill zone. It is fantastic to see these senior players giving up their time to impart their knowledge and experience onto the future champions of our game. Ok I think that's it - any concerns or questions let me know. I'll post later in the week re who is playing who and where next week.

06.01.2022 Hello all - please share this very important message regarding this Saturday's action: We will be playing on the main ground at the showgrounds (the Saints' football ground) NOT on the Arundel Street Ovals as there are two under 14 games taking place down there Saturday morning. Please spread the word - hopefully Benalla Saints haven't got training Saturday morning! If they do they can warm up with a hit of cricket.

06.01.2022 January 30, 2016; Back on the lush green showies and the turn out was pretty good. Thanks again go out to the Benalla Bushrangers - represented once again by Steve Pickering who was ably supported by Nick Jacobs. Big shout out also to Sam Manger for taking on umpiring and scoring duties in the game at Etihad. Cheers guys really appreciated. In the game at Etihad, the Cody Cole led Scorchers took on the Nick Trethowan led Strikers. Strikers knocked up a healthy 205, Max Woods ...on top with 37. In reply, Scorchers amassed 129 with Will Botten leading the way with 21. Over at the picturesque Adelaide Oval, Thunder led by Jakob Decker knocked up 131 - equal top scorers being Flynn Weeks and Cooper Woods with 27 each. In reply the Ethan Scipione captained Heat took he choccies with 165 - the skipper himself top scoring with 35. Great stuff guys - once again everyone played in great spirit and respect - can't ask for more than that. MVP for this week - Harrison Drury - high five H. I think we should be right for the main showies ground for next week as well, stay tuned...and see you next week.

06.01.2022 Benalla Ensign braved the heat on Saturday and got some great shots of our future champs - great stuff.

05.01.2022 Action from Jan 23/1/16; Good to see everyone back on board after last week's setback! Scorchers led by Darcie Spokes batted first at Etihad Stadium and knocked up a healthy 126 (and incidentally didn't lose a single wicket!). Campbell Drury top scored with 36.... Heat led by Zoe Alexander replied with 77, falling a bit short - bad luck guys. Blake Spokes top scored with 22. At the 'G the Max Woods led Strikers knocked up 89, with Max Cullen leading the way with 23. Thunder chased the total down in fine style led by (I can't remember guys, Will Smith was away - remind me who took his place....) finishing up with 150. Cooper Woods top scored with 38. Once again all games were played with great spirit and enthusiasm, well done to each and every player who participates - you always carry yourselves very well on and off the field. Huge thank you to Steve Pickering from the Benalla Bushrangers for coming down yet again to lend a hand in the skills zone. Great stuff Steve. Thanks also to Rick Willett for umpiring & scoring the game at the MCG, never hesitates to lend a hand. Also - Ace Manger has donated a few sets of pads to the T20 gear - it might be a good idea for a few of you guys to perhaps try them out while your'e batting. When you go onto the U12's, U14's etc you'll have to wear them all the time so now is a perfect chance to get used to them. Thanks Ace!

05.01.2022 Welcome back all! It was great to get back into it after a long Christmas break. Hope everyone had a good day. First of all congratulations to Zoe Alexander and Jackson Lindsay - lucky recipients of autographed cricket bats that were donated by Cricket Australia and raffled off yesterday. Well done guys they are fantastic prizes. In match action for the T20 guys;... Hurricanes remain undefeated after taking on Thunder @ Etihad Stadium. In a very high scoring affair Hurricanes got up by 18 runs - 245 - 227. Scorchers faced Strikers at the 'G. Another high scorer saw Scorchers triumph by 20 runs; 236 - 216. Two closely fought and high scoring games. Well done to all. Hurricanes still sit at the top of the table yet to lose a game; followed closely by Scorchers, Strikers then Thunder. Let's see if the Strikers can knock Thunder off for the first time this week at Etihad whilst Thunder take on the Scorchers at the 'G. Let's go Thunder time to notch one up! Good luck to all for next weeks games and keep that elbow up!

04.01.2022 Great day down at the beautiful gardens oval - a lot of fun was had with the cricketers having a hit with mums, dads, brothers and sisters. A great curtain raiser for the senior T20 finals. LIncoln Woolley and Tim Alexander's days were made even better by winning a signed cricket bat each courtesy of Cricket Australia. After play we enjoyed some snags and onion in bread and some more little giveaways from Cricket Australia. Add to that some icy poles and drinks supplied by A...yush's dad and all in all a pretty good day. That's the season officially over guys - see you next season and remember to bring some friends along. Over and out (for now).

04.01.2022 19/12/15 ~ tell you what it's fitting we have a Scorchers and a Heat team because today we had plenty of both - it was a hot one for sure. Numbers were down so Scorchers and Heat combined to take on Thunder and Strikers combined. Stephen Batman in charge of the Scorchers /Heat won the toss and batted - his team knocked up 202 with Blake Spokes top scoring on 30, closely followed by Blake Batman and Tyler Begnone on 24 apiece. Thunder / Strikers combined responded in grand st...yle with 242 - top scorers Max Woods and Tom Griffiths with 38 each, Hamish Willett not far behind on 25. Top stuff guys, conditions were tough and there were (almost) no complaints about the heat - hopefully those icy poles went down well at close of play. Congratulations to Blake Batman, taking home the cricket bat autographed by the Australian side that toured the West Indies in 2012 and donated by Cricket Australia - a fantastic prize Blake look after that one. The MVP for this week - Bayleigh Dervish - nice work Bayleigh. That's it for 2015 - we're back on January 16, 2016 - enjoy your Christmas, eat lots and get in the nets over the break to work on those cover drives. See you next year!

01.01.2022 ATTENTION! Sorry for shouting....please be advised that due to the extreme heat forecast for tomorrow Friday 10, ALL Milo cricket is cancelled (In2 and T20 Blast). The day will be made up by adding another Friday to the program, so we finish up on the 24th Feb, NOT the 17th.... Please pass this on to anyone you can - this is the only form of communication I use as it reaches the most people, so if you know any Milo ers who are not on FB please let them know. Cheers - see you next week.

01.01.2022 12/12/15 report; Unfortunately there's no action shots from the games due to a camera malfunction...D'oh! At Etihad Stadium two undermanned teams battled game 1 out. Heat captained by Tyler Begnone (who won the toss and elected to bat) notched up 72, with Will Smith top scoring with 17.Thunder captained by Woodsy responded very well taking out the game with 153 - Flynn Weeks top scoring with 45. Great effort guys and well done to all involved.... Over at the 'G the Ace Manger captioned Scorchers smashed 215 , Campbell Drury top knocking with 39. The Isobel Sutherland captained Strikers chased the big total down managing 219 - what a nail biter! Max Cullen belted 62 in a cracking game of T20. Well done guys. Big thank you to Rick Willett for stepping up and umpiring / scoring the second game. Also Phil Sutherland for helping out in the skills zone. Cheers guys. Next week is our last hit before Christmas and we will be drawing the lucky winner of the cricket bat signed by the Australian team that toured the West Indies in 2012, kindly donated by Cricket Australia / Victoria. Make sure you get down there - someone will be taking a new bat home! We might be back on the Arundel St ovals next week, as there is an U16 game on the showies, that will be confirmed later in the week and I'll let you know. Later!
