25.01.2022 #Repost @abcindigenous with @trentwhite_photo Darumbal and Yiman man Trent White picked up a camera to help First Nations clans preserve their cultures o...ne photo at a time. . Unsatisfied with life in the mining industry, the 37-year-old made the decision to return to Darumbal, his traditional country in central Queensland. . "I started getting really involved in a lot of culture here, back home, because we were losing elders pretty quickly in my family and there was no-one really taking on that role," he said. . Mr White spent countless hours learning from elders. He now speaks at schools, hosts programs, and sings in language. . But the father of three was always interested in photography. . Turning it into a career seemed unrealistic until he viewed it as another way to educate people and preserve culture. . "I would go over to families houses, or anyone of Aboriginal heritage, and youd go into their house, youd look at the family photos, and youd see them dressed up in nice clothes," he said. . "I always used to think, how come were not getting photographed with who we are and what we represent? and that was something I wanted to change. . Mr White first photographed Darumbal and Torres Strait Islander woman Kayleen Adidi only eight months into owning a camera. . When Ms Adidi saw her photos for the first time she said she was overcome with pride. . "Its empowering. Its given me confidence, not only as a woman, but an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander woman," she said. . "It makes me proud showing my family, showing community. . "Not only that, passing it down to the little people, its really important, because we want them to be proud of who they are and where they come from." . Read the story, link in bio . But when we do choose to spend energy and emotional labour creating these resources, or speaking on topics, take advantage of them. This is a question that a lot of mob are asked regularly. This guide does not represent all Aboriginal people. We are all shades of deadly with different experiences and opinions. Shout out to @tan3shia for being all sorts of amazing 24/7. See more

02.01.2022 this is something to keep in mind this season..

02.01.2022 The First Australians share a connection with country at least 65,000 years old and have the oldest continuous culture on the planet. This page is a celebratio...n of an ancient and unique people, culture and spirituality that is interwoven and inseparable from this ancient and unique land. It is about sharing and creating an awareness of Aboriginal ingenuity, wisdom and perspectives and for educating about local history and culture. It is hoped that this page will grow into a united group of people whom share a respect for the value and contributions of First Nations people and knowledge; and an appreciation of their centuries old connection to Country. It is also our hope that we can build a collective network of individuals from across Australia and the globe committed to supporting Aboriginal communities and providing whatever assistance we can to assist First Nations people to remain on Country and care for their traditional lands. We recognise the great many injustices and issues facing our Aboriginal brothers and sisters and acknowledge the work that many people, organisations and media outlets have done and continue to do in order to raise awareness and address them. We also acknowledge that we must not forget or overlook the strength and beauty of First Nations people connection with country and we hope this page will serve as an ongoing reminder of the many positives worthy of celebration. This page is co-admined by Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal Australians dedicated to the same causes and ethos and we believe whole heartedly that discrimination and hate of any type, form and direction is unnecessary and ineffective in leading to genuine change and equality. We welcome you to join our CWC online family and to share our love of and respect for Connection with Country. Wanjoo bulup - welcome everyone. (Noongar language, SW of WA)
