INGREDIENTS - 1 cup almond milk - 1/2 teaspoon ground turmeric - 1/2 thumbnail of fresh ginger or - - 1/8 teaspoon ground ginger pinch of ground cinnamon - 1 teaspoon raw honey Optional Toppings - Dried rose petals and ground cinnamon 1. In a small saucepan, whisk milk, turmeric, cinnamon and ginger. 2. Simmer for a few minutes over low heat, being careful not to boil. 3. Strain into a mug. 4. Allow to cool a little. Then add honey or maple syrup. *To create a frothy beverage, use a milk frother or pour the mixture into a blender and blend until frothy. 19.01.2022 EXFOLIATION:: Exfoliation is vital for smooth, glowing skin As we get older our own skins natural shedding process slows down leaving the skin feeling dry, rough and dull. It is important that we all incorporate an exfoliant into our skincare routines to keep our skin cells turning over. The first form of exfoliation to look at is physical exfoliation. This means scrubs with granules that manually scrub away at dead skin cells. These scrubs can be quite abrasive dependin...g on the granules used. They tend to suit people with a thicker, rough textured skin that can tolerate abrasion. Physical exfoliants are best avoided on sensitive and active acne skins as the abrasion can be too harsh and irritating. The other form of exfoliation is chemical exfoliation. This can often scare people away, but it shouldnt! Chemical exfoliation means the use of acids or enzymes to eat away at the glue that binds dead skin cells to live healthy cells. Once this glue is broken down it allows the skin cells to shed, revealing brighter healthier skin underneath! We usually see AHAs like Lactic and Glycolic Acids and BHAs like Salicylic Acid in these forms of exfoliators, as well as fruit enzymes like pumpkin and papaya. Fruit enzymes tend to be more gentle as they work slower and dont penetrate the skin as deeply, this is great for a more sensitive skin. AHA and BHA exfoliants are amazing on pigmented, ageing and acne prone skins. They help to lighten pigment, reduce the appearance of fine lines and clear congestion and breakouts. They can come in the form of overnight gels or lotions, masks and at home peels and are best used 1-2 times a week. However, there are now a lot of cleansers that have AHAs and BHAs in the formula at a lower dose so they can be used everyday, this is great as they are usually gentler than a weekly mask or peel and its handy if your not great at remembering to use your scrub twice a week! 13.01.2022 A weekly face mask maintains skin between facials and an essential component to a great skin care regime! Always customise to your skin type and condition. There’s a mask for everything - hydration, purification, anti ageing, brightening, nourishing - you name it. You can also apply multiple masks at once. Perhaps a clay mask over the T zone and a hydrating cream mask for the rest of the face. But don’t layer over the top of each other or mix masks together. Just appl...y with a small brush to specific zones. Sheet masks are infused with active ingredients such as hyaluronic acid, peptides, growth factors and stem cells. Just place the sheet over your face and leave for 20 minutes as the ingredients absorb into the skin. These are great for hydration, brightening and anti ageing, but don’t leave on for longer than 20 minutes. Clay masks are great to purify, decongest and mop up excess oil. They’re loaded with minerals that have a drawing effect, so essentially they absorb impurities. They can definitely have a drying effect on the skin so if you only have an oily t zone then just apply the mask on this area. And with clay masks always avoid the eye area. Cream masks can be used for almost everything. They can soothe, nourish, brighten or hydrate. They come with with high doses of vitamins, Hyaluronic Acid, fatty acids and oils which can really breathe life back into your complexion. They’re also super easy to use - just apply with a brush or your fingers. Makes 18 squares Ingredients: 3 cups (240 g) desiccated coconut cup (180 ml) coconut cream cup (125 g) coconut butter 2 Tbsp coconut oil, melted & cooled 2 cups (250 g) raspberries, fresh or frozen & thawed 2 Tbsp GLOW Inner Beauty Essential 2 tsp freshly squeezed lime juice 1 Tbsp maple syrup 1 tsp pure vanilla extract 2 Tbsp freeze-dried blueberries, coarsely chopped 2 Tbsp pistachios, coarsely chopped Method: - Lightly grease and line a 20 x 10cm loaf tin with baking paper. - Combine the desiccated coconut, cup (125 ml) of the coconut cream, coconut butter and coconut oil in a medium bowl and mix well. Divide in half and transfer one half into another medium bowl. - Pass the raspberries through a fine-mesh sieve, pressing and rubbing with the back of a spoon to extract the raspberry pulp and remove the seeds. Add the raspberry pulp, GLOW powder and lime juice to one half of the mixture and stir to combine. Set aside. - Add the remaining coconut cream, maple syrup and vanilla to the other half of the mixture and stir to combine. - Scatter the freeze-dried blueberries and pistachios over the base of the prepared tin. - Spoon the white coconut mixture over the blueberries and pistachios, and using the back of a spoon, gently spread and press to compact and make an even layer. Spoon the purple coconut mixture over the top and spread and press to make an even layer. Cover the tin with wrap and refrigerate for 1 hour (or leave overnight) until set. - Turn out onto a chopping board. Using a hot knife, cut into eighteen squares. Eat and enjoy
