24.01.2022 Macro photography of a flower. Not sure what sort of flower it is, but I really liked the look of the centre in contrast with the purple of the leaves. See more of my images visit www.benblackburn.photo

24.01.2022 Two pictures of a Peacock taken at Wagga Wagga Botanical Gardens. I was lucky enough that they were on display for one of the females.

22.01.2022 Whilst up at Thredbo last week we were lucky enough to see the first snow fall of the year. It really was a special sight. This photo was taken up at Dead Horse Gap about 200-300 meters above Thredbo Village. See more of my images at www.benblackburn.photo

20.01.2022 I took this photo a few years ago looking out over Lake Macquarie from Valentine. I was lucky enough to get amazing colours after the sun set.

17.01.2022 Red Capped Robin This Red Capped Robin was captured just before Sunset in Wagga Wagga. I was lucky enough for him to perch himself on the barbed wire right next to where I was standing. These birds aren't often seen and often travel alone.

17.01.2022 White Indian Peafowl This is a white Indian Peafowl, more commonly known as a Peacock. It may interest you to know that these birds are not native to Australia but were introduced. I love the stunning white of this bird. The photo was captured at Wagga Wagga Botanical Gardens.

16.01.2022 Macro photo of the centre of a white rose. I really like how the stamens contrast in colour with the white petals. See more of my images at www.benblackburn.photo

13.01.2022 Last week we were staying at an Airbnb in Dalgety. We were lucky enough to stay at a location on top of a hill with 180 degree panoramic views towards the Snowy Mountains. This photograph is a six image photo stitched together. Let me know what you think. See more of my images at www.benblackburn.photo

13.01.2022 Last year I entered the Australian Photography Magazine Photographer of the year competition. I entered into two categories one being photo of the year (single image) and the other being Wildlife Photographer of the year (four images.) Last week I received my results. I received a Highly Commended award for each entry. Which meant I made the second round of cuts but fell outside of the top thirty. All in all I am very happy with the results. See below my certificates and the related images.

11.01.2022 Another photograph taken at Dead Horse Gap in the Snowy Mountains. Dead Horse Gap is about 200-300 meters above Thredbo Village. This photo was taken on the day of the first snowfall for 2019. See my other images at www.benblackburn.photo

07.01.2022 I was at Blackbutt Reserve in Newcastle watching the Kookaburras hunt when I saw this guy dive into a bush, thrash about for about 10 seconds and then fly back up onto the branch. Turned and looked at me, 'see what I got.' Can't say I've ever seen a grub like this, especially with the eyes...

06.01.2022 Newcastle Beach Photograph of Newcastle Beach in NSW Australia. You can also see the Newcastle Bathes and the Canoe Pool. The Canoe Pool once had a map of the world as its base, however over the years strong surf has destroyed it. On the horizon you can see the mountains of Port Stephens, which is well worth a visit.

05.01.2022 Grey Fantail Singing - I captured this photograph whilst visiting Tumut on the weekend. It is a Grey Fantail sining his heart out whilst perched on some rusty barbed wire. Let me know what you think. Best viewed at full screen, but on a mobile zoom in to see the detail.

04.01.2022 Photo of a Cockatoo taken in my backyard.

03.01.2022 Something a little different. I am trying my hand at some macro photography. I will be looking at different forms of macro photography including, still life, water droplet and other small and interesting things that get my interest. I took these photos at home yesterday. Let me know what you think.
