20.01.2022 ‘Astro Boab’ My first crack at Astro on the nifty 50mm. I love how it compresses the galactic centre of our Milky Way Galaxy. 15.01.2022 Wowsers, the @dreamphotographyworkshops crew copped a rare blue Aurora on the 18th of Feb. As reported by spaceweather.com, a crack in the earth’s magnetosphere, sparked a rare blue azure coloured aurora over the Lofoten Islands. Shot on the Sony A7riii, Sigma 14mm 1.8 art and Sirui W-2204 tripod. ... EXIF data 2.5 seconds expo, f/1.8, ISO 6400 We only have 3 seats left for the winter wonderland February 16-25th Norway workshop next year, hit us up @dreamphotographyworkshops or email [email protected] if you would like to join us. Our warmth and comfort during our stay here in the arctic wouldn’t be possible without the support of the legends @wildearthaustralia

14.01.2022 Like the Madagasgarian Boabab, the Boab trees of the Kimberley have an indigenous Dreamtime story of tall poppy syndrome. The Boab tree was the biggest by a county mile, has the nicest skin, biggest fruit and prettiest flower. It was not at all modest about its superior attributes and used to boast to all the other flora about how much better he was. The gods humbled the entitled Boab by ripping it out of the ground by its roots and replanting it upside down. ... That’s why both Boababs of Madagascar and the Kimberley’s Boabs are known as upside down trees. Since 2 different cultures have the same story for Boab trees, this is what Carl Jung would call an Archetype. It’s not a made up story, but part of the collective consciousness and a valuable lesson from the universe.

12.01.2022 With a good dump of snow overnight, no wind, clear skies in the morning and neap tides, the @dreamphotographyworkshops crew had perfect conditions for our last sunrise in the Lofoten Islands. Shot on the Sony a7rii, sigma 16-35 art, Sirui W-2204, using the NiSi polariser and medium grad filter. EXIF data was 1/15 expo, f/11, iso 100. 12.01.2022 I love shooting astro in the Bungles, you won’t catch me camping out in these parts though, no chance.

12.01.2022 Speaking from the heart on a recent interview I did with Scoop digital

11.01.2022 I’ve been out to this tributary on the banks of the Ord about a dozen times this year, camping, fishing, running time lapse on gnarly boabs and well worn sandstone formations. Checkout my story to see how it’s changed with the different tides over the year. I even caught it on a king spring tide one day. This is shot on the Mavic 2 pro.

11.01.2022 ‘King Boab’ Bit of a spur of the moment cheeky little selfie in between time lapse setups. This is an exposure blend. 15sec expo, ISO 4000 and f/2.0 for the mainframe and 5secs expo, ISO 320, f/11 to get the starburst on the flash. ... Shot on the Sony A7riii, Sigma 14mm 1.8 and Sirui w-2204 tripod.

09.01.2022 We were blessed with some of the heaviest fog I have ever seen here in Kununurra this morning. There has been a bit of fog around the country lately, but ours is caused when the days start to heat up and we still get our cool mornings. Temp difference in Kununurra today is 18-36.

09.01.2022 We’ve had fog almost every day for the past 10 days here in the Ord Valley. If you zoom in to the lump on Elephant Rock, you might be able to see some lucky hikers enjoying the very unique sunrise.

09.01.2022 Last night was magic hanging out under the Milky way and 28% waxing gibbous moon with @_irizon_ & @frnztttooo. We shot this in between time lapse setups while waiting for the Milky Way to rise to azimuth. EXIF data was 13sec expo, f/3.5, ISO6400, 4200kel. ... Sony a7riii, Sigma 14mm, Siriu W-2204

07.01.2022 We ‘glamped’ on the Pintpot bay mooring a couple of nights ago. It is rad! I’m doing reccies, just incase I need to switch the world off... Shot on the Mavic 2 pro with NiSi polariser. 1/10 expo | f/2.8 | ISO 100 | 6000 kelvin.

07.01.2022 We got Aurora 2 nights in a row in Lofoten and this was the last night of our @dreamphotographyworkshops. It had promised to be much more with clear skies and a kp5 predicted... but ahhh, no one was complaining. See the comments for a cheeky little time lapse I got. Shot on the Sony A7riii, Sigma 14mm art, 2 sec expo, f/2.0, ISO 6400. ... 05.01.2022 Single shot, 3 second exposure, f/11, iso 100

05.01.2022 Here is a little example of some of my portraiture work in recent months. Definitely not my strong point, and they always make me a tad nervous, but it is my greatest compliment when people ask me to take their photo.

04.01.2022 The iconic colours of Broome, Western Australia.

04.01.2022 I’ve just spent the weekend in the UNESCO world heritage listed Purnululu national park shooting time lapse for my upcoming epic video. Whilst waiting for it to get dark, @bradvl23 and I decided we’d try shoot Cathedral gorge using a photography technique called exposure blending. We shot the gorge at 530pm and the Milkyway in astronomical twilight 25 minutes later at 555pm. The tripod and camera sat in the same position for both shots. ... Both images are processed and blended using camera raw and photoshop. The foreground is a 25sec expo, f/4, iso 4000, 3800 kel and the Milkyway 15sec expo, f/2.0, iso 4000, 3600 kel. If you dig it, you are more than welcome to share it

03.01.2022 Only fools and newcomers call the weather in the tropics, but with the recent activity we’ve had up here, I think it’s safe to say ‘it’s on like Donkey Kong’ Shot on the Sony a7riii with Sigma 24-70 lens and Sirui w-2204 tripod 4 sec expo, f/3.2, ISO 800

02.01.2022 The Grotto is one of the easiest waterfalls to access here in the Kimberley, even during a heavy monsoonal event. This was Thursday afternoon after a nice little cell passed over the Erskine Range near Wyndham W.A. Shot on the DJI Mavic 2 pro, with the NiSi 32ND Expo 1.6 seconds, f/5.0, ISO 100

02.01.2022 Breathe Pachamumma, breathe.

02.01.2022 ‘Corona Borealis’(Northern Crown) This is the ‘King Boab’, aptly named as it is the biggest by mass and lies on the flood plains of the King River. This is a 3 row, 30 image panorama stitch. ... Shot last night during astronomical twilight. This shot is only possible for a 15 minute window during 10 days of the August new moon. This weekend the moon will be too bright, October the Milky Way in the wrong position, and July is too early as the Milky Way is not high enough. Each frame was 13 seconds expo, f/2.0, ISO 5000. Shot on the Sony a7riii, Sigma 14mm art and Sirui W-2204

01.01.2022 This is a mega 40 image stitch shot from the north western side of the Ord Dam wall. On the right we have the Ord Gorge, middle left the Lake Argyle Tourist Village and Lake Argyle in the background. Each image was shot at 1/40 sec, iso 100 & f/3.5 using the NiSi polariser.

01.01.2022 Every time I find a new Boab I have a habit of naming them. This one is Rita Wilson. The short version of the backstory is, whilst en route to ‘Camel Rock’ during the @dreamphotographyworkshops I may have been a little disoriented. The workshop guests named this family of Boabs the ‘Wilson’s’(there’s 4 more behind this one) in reference to Tom Hanks make believe friend in ‘Castaway’ Whilst shooting this tree, I thought if they are the ‘Wilson’s’, each one needs an individual... name. For some reason Rita Wilson popped into me head. Little did I know when I got home and googled her, she is Tom Hanks wife. This is a 4 image vertical pano. Shot on the Sony a7riii, sigma 50mm 1.4 and Sirui w-2204 tripod 15 secs expo, ISO 4000, f/2.0, 3200 kelvin. The Kimberley, Australia Western Australia Australia.com
