22.01.2022 This Has To Be Said! I have to say something about the repeated below average results from online robotic Mastering. Clients contact me requesting a re-Master a...fter using these dubious services. I send back the completed re-Master and the difference is dramatic. The client is happy with the new Master but requests a discount as they now have a limited budget. So a word of warning, dont be sucked in to the glossy adds for these online services of zero repute. Its a waste of time and money. Music Mastering is a personal emotional process, I personally make a point of always being available for a chat to discus your requirements. 17.01.2022 100 years ago our Pa (grandfather) was a returned soldier from WW1. He married Mary Darcy and our father Ted Bartley was born in 1919. Pa had many issues, with... unpredictable mood swings and at one stage admitted himself to hospital for help. No one understood his behaviour, now days they call it post traumatic stress disorder and they're starting to understand how it effects on the brain. Rest in peace Pa, we are thinking of you today. This image is inspired by this sentiment, where the simplicity of Don listening through a glass distills his art form... into knowledge and experience rather than focusing on technology. Despite his extensive knowledge and interest in the technology of music recording, he still prioritises understanding the physicality of sound and the context of the music he is recording. Growing up with a father who was a radio technician, Don has been fascinated with sound from a young age. This passion has become a four decade career where he has seen the cultural shift between recording mediums and music styles. Since 1971 Don has been mastering, working at CBS Records, RCA Records and EMI's Record's Studios 301. His mastering work is renowned in Australia and internationally and has accrued many ARIA awards from artists such as Paul Kelly, Yothu Yindi, You Am I, Silverchair , The Cruel Sea and John Farnham and The Wiggles. David Bowie, John Lennon and Queen have had their Australian releases mastered by Don. See more
