22.01.2022 We love our garden! It’s time to plant those winter veggies. In the veggie boxes we have cauliflower, broccoli, Brussels sprouts, spring onion, cabbage, snow peas, celery, parsley and the chillies are still going strong. What I am looking forward to most is those Brussels sprouts roasted with balsamic and garlic!

20.01.2022 And we have a deck! Made from recycled pallets found on the side of the road. This project cost us absolutely nothing! All wood - free, we already had the screws and sandpaper and the decking oil was left over from our last decking project. The deck is in front of the industrial shed accommodation and will will be an outdoor lounging area to sit and relax. This project is huge but we are tackling it bit by bit and slowly making some progress. We are hoping to be ready for guests in early January.

19.01.2022 Glamping - It’s glamorous camping! Our lotus belle tent has all the luxuries combined with adventure right in the heart of Bendigo. The tent is fully lined to keep you cosy and warm along with an electric blanket for the colder nights. The queen size bed has a Sleeping Duck luxury mattress and quality linen to guarantee a comfortable nights sleep. Your own private rustic bathroom is just a few steps away. It’s camping, but with everything right at your doorstep. It’s a five... minute walk to the centre of town where you will find Bendigo’s best restaurants, cafes and bars. We also have free bike hire for you to explore the local tourist attractions, galleries and heritage architecture. At only $115 per night (plus Airbnb fees) it’s an affordable inner city glamping experience.

Or how about staying in a boho style shipping container? Snuggle up in Amelie, the 1950’s vintage caravan or the cute little Woodland bungalow. If you would like a little more space the Station Master’s cottage is the one for you. Which ever you choose, it will be a treat to finally get away!

17.01.2022 Work has started on the shed conversion! These old school fluorescent lights were already functioning in the shed. Instead of replacing them, we decided to just lower them. An easy and cost effective solution.

16.01.2022 Did you know we are super eco friendly? All our cleaning products are environmentally friendly and Australian made. We recycle everything we can. Our unique accommodation spaces are decorated from mostly second hand items. We are solar powered and have a rain water tank. Our delicious home made granola is vegan and we have home made jams and preserves for sale. It makes us feel good!

15.01.2022 The lotus belle tent is very spacious! With the 5 metre diameter, it easily fits a queen size bed, kitchenette, dining area and beanbag lounging area as well as a huge outdoor space and garden. It’s super warm with the insulated interior quilted liner, wool carpet and fluffy rugs, super effective heater and electric blanket. It’s certainly a very cosy winter destination!

14.01.2022 Lockdown round 2 project! During the first lockdown we renovated the caravan. This time round we are tackling the garden. We have already made a start and the plans are grand! The vintage caravan will sit proudly in our Italian style garden inspired by the gorgeous gardens of Italy. Sandstone paths, lavender, grape vine covered pergola, lemon trees and of course olives. Stay tuned for updates :)

14.01.2022 Leave the car at home! The woodland bungalow, station master’s cottage and groovy 70’s bungalow are just a hop, skip and jump to the centre of town. If you don’t feel like walking we have free bikes available with helmets and bike locks. Explore Bendigo by bike next time you stay.

10.01.2022 When you stay in the shipping container, That 70’s Van or Amelie the 50’s vintage caravan Sammy the cat will most likely be the first to greet you. He’s our 12 year old rag doll and absolutely LOVES the company of guests. He may well invite himself into your space and make himself at home on the bed - if you let him. He is super friendly, oh so cuddly and completely instagram-able. He has been missing the extra attention over the past few months and can’t wait to be welcoming guests again soon.

10.01.2022 Amelie is our 1950’s vintage caravan and she sits undercover in the garden. She is decked out in all things vintage with pretty pastels and an Art Deco theme. She came to us a little worst for wear but now she looks fabulous after a lot of hard work and love! Here’s some before and after’s ...

09.01.2022 Putting in the hard yards and seeing the results with tradie son on the job! The Italian garden is coming together nicely. If only those trees would hurry up and grow!

07.01.2022 We don’t have a television in any of our accommodations. We think that’s a good thing! We do have other forms of entertainment though. Sit back and listen to vintage vinyl on the record player, flick through the carefully selected books and magazines provided or play a good old fashioned board game! Reconnect with your partner and family or take some time out to just unwind. We have created a retreat from the everyday, from screens and the outside world. Appreciate and enjoy the little things.

07.01.2022 Our lotus belle tent will go up in spring and we are busy working on the en-suite bathroom. This little shed was already on the property and it was just the right size to convert it to a bathroom. It’s rustic, it has character and will fit perfectly into the theme. It’s just a little stroll through the garden down the red brick path from the tent. The shower is solar powered and the toilet is an environmentally friendly composting toilet. Our shampoo, conditioner and body wash are eco friendly and Australian made and our toilet paper is from Who Gives a Crap. Our whole little bathroom is doing the right thing by our planet!

03.01.2022 The garden summer house is very nearly finished. Outside just needs a few coats of white paint. Soon guests will be able to relax inside on the daybed and gaze through the clear roof at the trees above or through one of the 14 old doors into the garden. The inside of course will be thoughtfully decorated with a boho scandi feel. It will be completely fitted out with carefully selected second hand items from op shops, garage sales and vintage stores. Another fun interior design project!

03.01.2022 When it comes to interior design and decorating I always lean towards white, light and bright so the shed conversion is something completely different and exciting for me. The industrial warehouse style lends itself to dark colours, heavy materials and rust. Rust is my new thing! There has been a lot of research over here on how to accelerate the rusting process and it is as easy as a splash of vinegar, a handful of salt and some hydrogen peroxide. In the space of just a few days we have turned new steel into beautiful rusty tones and textures. Add to that acid washed concrete floors, industrial lighting and a pop of yellow and it’s starting to all come together. Here’s a snippet of what we have been up to in the shed.

02.01.2022 When you stay in the Station Master’s cottage you will be happy to spend the evening in. The fire will keep you toasty warm and the full kitchen will allow you to whip up a tasty meal. Sit back with a wine in hand or soak in the claw foot. Don’t forget to turn on the fairy lights! When you wake, the coffee machine is there waiting for you and our tasty home made granola is the perfect accompaniment. Sounds perfect right? We think so!
