24.01.2022 A beautiful connection to this wonderful post - Tim is Lyndell Broad's brother, and Erica & Daniel's uncle. The piece he plays is by Sarah Hopkins, who also wrote 'Past Life Melodies'. We made an attempt to sing this at our reunion, some of you may recall, ably conducted by Edwin. How wonderful that Tim is spreading the Australiana magic in the US.

23.01.2022 Valerie Broad's personal invitation to BYC choristers: one you can't refuse :)

16.01.2022 A message from Dave Newington.

16.01.2022 Calling all members of our BYC Family who were a part of the Prague tour: does anyone have a photo taken inside (or outside) the Church of the Infant Jesus? Choristers sang 'See a Baby', and we'd love to share an image from that memorable performance in our virtual choir video. TIA

10.01.2022 It's a song I wrote 9 years ago, and now is the moment!! Let's teach it to our children. In these strange times, their handwashing skills are about to be legendary.

09.01.2022 Is there anyone in our BYC community who has some book keeping or accounting skills who would be willing to volunteer as our treasurer. We now use quick books for all invoicing and expenses and reconcile monthly. It is not an onerous task. Support will be available at all times especially if you have not used the software . As a rule we meet monthly. I would love to hear from you. Rosalie 0427250768

07.01.2022 From all of us to all of you. Stay safe

07.01.2022 Vocal Coach and Conductor, Reserve Choir Michelle Caldwell (Blume) began her association with the Bendigo Youth Choir as a member of the Reserve Choir when she was 12. She progressed through to the Performing Choir, where she became a stalwart of the alto section. She travelled to Canada, Prague and America with the choir balancing her love of volleyball with her commitment to the choir’s performances. In her last year as a choir member, she was 23 years of age, and acted as ...a mentor to younger members providing invaluable support to those with less performance experience. Michelle Teaches at Axedale Primary School and also manages the specialist areas of Music, ICT and Choir. In March 2014, Michelle performed a song about Egypt written by Valmai Harris at a concert at the Uniting Church of Kangaroo Flat participating in the World Day of Prayer. Within her workplace Michelle has now formed the Axedale Primary School Choir which competes at the annual Bendigo Competitions and performs at various concerts throughout the year. The Axedale Choir has a partnering arrangement with the Bendigo Youth Choir at many events. Michelle continues her association with the choir as a member of the music staff, training and conducting the Reserve Choir in collaboration with Valmai Harris. How lucky are we, that Michelle is sharing her experiences with the younger choir members who are our future. Your will see the Reserve Choir with children from 6 to 12 years of age performing at our 35th Anniversary celebratory Concert at St Paul's Cathedral Myers St on the 17th November at 2.30pm. bookings are via Eventbrite. #bendigoyouthchoir

05.01.2022 Accompanist and Conductor, Reserve Choir Valmai Harris is a prolific Bendigo composer, whose gift for writing beautiful music has provided some of the most memorable, long-lived songs in the repertoire of the Bendigo Youth Choir. Her song, ‘See a Baby’ has been a stand-out favourite since its composition and has been performed locally and overseas to great acclaim. ‘The Letter’, the poignant story of her grandfather’s tragic war experience has been among the most loved songs ...performed by the choir; both singer and listener alike are deeply moved by this piece. Valmai was the co-founder, along with Valerie Broad, of local theatrical group, ‘Kangfluca Music’, which has been a vehicle for their collaborative musical productions. Over the years, Valmai and Valerie have co-written several musicals which have been widely performed. Valmai has performed in various local theatrical productions. She is currently accompanist for the Bendigo chapter of Sing Australia. She has been associated with the Bendigo Youth Choir since 1990 as accompanist for both choirs and composer and conductor. Valmai and her husband Tom have lived in Bendigo for well over thirty years and have three children and grandchildren and one great grandchild. The Bendigo Youth Choir will record Valmai's song 'The Letter on the 16th November with current and former choristers. Not only is she an accomplished composer, she has now written a book about her Grandfather called 'Forget Me Not' which will be launched at the 35th Anniversary concert to be held at St Paul's Cathedral in Myer's St Bendigo at 2.30pm on Sunday 17th November. What an amazing talented lady. Bookings are via Eventbrite. #bendigoyouthchoir

05.01.2022 Remembering a time of significant hardships and loss of life 100 years ago. We banded together then and we will continue to do so now.

04.01.2022 Reunion, open mic November, 2019.

04.01.2022 Tickets to the concert on Sunday 17th November have all been sold. Full House.

04.01.2022 In these strange and unsettling times, we want to remain connected. This is the place for our BYC tribe to gather. There were so many wonderful, new memories that were created last year in November at our reunion, and at Carols for those who were able to join the current members. Now, more than ever, we'd love to keep the dream alive of coming together later this year. By the time we get to November, we'll be more than ready to come together to lift our voices and make a beautiful sound.

01.01.2022 A momentous day when we gathered together to record this gem. Here's the YouTube link to The Letter. Take a bow, everyone. You were incredible. Lest We Forget. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KMH8NedAEw4
