21.01.2022 Daylight savings starts next Sunday for those of us in the Southern states. This is the easiest one to adjust to- and for those with early morning risers can bring a bit of balance back. The easiest way to adjust is to just wake up the hour earlier - which means for some waking your sleeping babies/ children, and use the new time to run your day by. After a few days their body clock will start to adjust. ... If the start of your week is particularly busy and stressful you can start Thursday or Friday.

18.01.2022 Lots of holding and cuddles throughout the day help fill your baby’s emotional cup and make it easier for them to be seperate from you at night. A little bit harder at this time with restrictions meaning that extended family and friends have not been able to help with extra cuddles and with giving you time out so that you have the emotional and physical energy to meet these needs. Hopefully things are soon to get easier for our Victorian Covid families.

16.01.2022 For those with Toddlers a session on insta with safe sleep space that should be good.

16.01.2022 For those who got their households up with daylight savings time, keep at it and your households will adjust soon as you continue to do it- if bedtime looks too light especially for the older ones- close the curtains while they are in the bathFor those who got their households up with daylight savings time, keep at it and your households will adjust soon as you continue to do it- if bedtime looks too light especially for the older ones- close the curtains while they are in the bath

15.01.2022 Is really important when parenting to be consistent - if the rules keep changing how can we expect little ones to know what’s expected of them.Is really important when parenting to be consistent - if the rules keep changing how can we expect little ones to know what’s expected of them.

15.01.2022 Remember there are lots of right ways of doing things when looking after your children, and you know their individual natures better than anyone else to be able to make the best choices for your family.

13.01.2022 Sometimes it’s good to wonder about your little ones and think about their behaviour and what they are doing in different ways. Some lovely graphics to set you thinking today from St Luke’s Baby Strengths Let me know if any of these are hitting the mark in your house , or if there are any other behaviours you would like to see illustrated

10.01.2022 "This service is exceptional. Timely, down-to-earth insights and understanding. Sometimes, it was as if you were reading my mind! My husband also signed up to t...he partner service and I would say that was extremely helpful both for his own coping and our family dynamics. Thank you!" Some lovely feedback from one of our mums who has been receiving our Ready to COPE email series. When it comes to your emotional and mental wellbeing during pregnancy and after you welcome your baby, knowing what to expect, and how to cope with some of the challenges, is a powerful way of protecting your mental health - and your relationships too. Our Ready to COPE email series provides reassurance, evidence-based advice and strategies and most importantly, a consistent gentle reminder that you're not alone. You can sign up to Ready to COPE here: https://www.cope.org.au/readytocope/ #perinatalmentalhealthweek

08.01.2022 Happy Father’s Day to all our Dads. Hope their are some special days/ traditions planned.

08.01.2022 Once babies/ young children are overtired they will struggle to be able to get to sleep- so look for tired signs and follow them. Keeping them up hoping they will be extra tired seldom works and often has the opposite effect.

07.01.2022 "Today was a Difficult Day," said Pooh. There was a pause. "Do you want to talk about it?" asked Piglet.... "No," said Pooh after a bit. "No, I don't think I do." "That's okay," said Piglet, and he came and sat beside his friend. "What are you doing?" asked Pooh. "Nothing, really," said Piglet. "Only, I know what Difficult Days are like. I quite often don't feel like talking about it on my Difficult Days either. "But goodness," continued Piglet, "Difficult Days are so much easier when you know you've got someone there for you. And I'll always be here for you, Pooh." And as Pooh sat there, working through in his head his Difficult Day, while the solid, reliable Piglet sat next to him quietly, swinging his little legs...he thought that his best friend had never been more right." - A.A. Milne Hoping that in these challenging times you have someone to sit beside you or in attachment terms to be with you

07.01.2022 With our Covid World slowed down, make time to enjoy/appreciate small things . Children are often fascinated by a tiny flower or bug- explore with them and see the world through their eyes.

07.01.2022 How are you having fun as a family in the very different 2020? Using the St Luke’s parenting cards to stimulate some thought on what having fun might means in your family.

05.01.2022 As we start to catch up with people again, be mindful that little ones can be overwhelmed easily- have no expectations , give plenty of cuddles and hold them close until they are ready to go to family/ friends and understand that increased stimulation may temporarily upset some babies who have had a very quiet Covid year.

03.01.2022 For babies who struggle with day sleeps , using the pram to get out and about can be extra useful, either when they wake from a catnap to try and get them some extra sleep or later in the afternoon when tired from not enough sleep. Even if they don’t have a quick nap they often have some quiet time and you can get a break from the tired behaviour! Featuring my favourite Magnolia tree in Houston St Quarry Hill.

03.01.2022 For anyone struggling and to remind us all to check in on each other and especially new parents.

02.01.2022 Maybe a positive of Covid19 and it’s restrictions is that it has made us slow down and sync better with the seasons this year. As we see glimpses of spring think about making time for some fabulous outdoor activities with your little ones across the warmth of the day- the fact that many of us will be spending it in our own backyards may mean thinking about planting flowers and seeds, digging in the earth to see what you can find, painting water or chalk pictures on concrete, making wind catchers, lying on the grass finding patterns in clouds and taking your lunches outside to eat on a rug.
