25.01.2022 Sorry to be passing this on... Monday's meeting is cancelled.

24.01.2022 Hello everyone. I hope you all are managing with the heat. It's nice to get a cooler breeze so catch it when you can. I have a question from annonymous, can anyone offer their suggestions please? Cheers GG......................................................................................................... "Hi, I have been living with fibromyalgia for 7years. I'm looking for a local Dr around Eaglehawk/Golden Square area. My current Dr is good but I'm just wanting someone closer as most of the time I can't drive. I would love to talk to people with the same illness. Just struggling at the moment." please take into account that not all docs are taking on new patients. ...I know my doc isn't.

22.01.2022 Hi everyone. I do hope you're all managing in the heat, I'm certainly struggling......... I have a post from someone that prefers to stay anonymous. I have provided some info to help with our group meetings and such, but if anyone here can offer any further assistance on the questions about help with finding a specialist, please do so here. Thank you................................................................................................Hi there, I'm interested in enga...ging with your group. Do you still meet? Is there any membership process or is it just an informal get together? I do also have a specific question, I'm searching for a physiologist or other therapist with whom to unpack some of the trauma which may have led to my development of the condition and work on some practical boundaries and skills in relation to family relationships moving forward. I've seen a number of unhelpful therapists in the past so I'm really cautious about investing money and time into new therapist relationships, and also anxious about being believed about my fibro condition after so many years of being told I'm "fine" by medical practitioners. I would prefer to remain anonymous if this question is put to the group but would deeply appreciate any advice for helpful therapists in or around Bendigo. Thanks in advance.

20.01.2022 Hi here everyone. Well it's been a while since I've posted anything here, its been a hectic roller coaster for me at the moment. But look at the weather were having; I hope that's enough incentive to get you out into that glorious sunshine and soak up those rays despite what my body is going through, I'm giving it a go and started my spring planting regime (I missed winter planting ) I'm enjoying getting out there to spend more time with my birds too, they enjoy my compa...ny also For those that are working, I hope you get an opportunity to get out into that sunshine at some stage. I would like to remind you all of our arvo tea coming up this Saturday 8th Sept at St John of God Hospital Atrium Coffee Shop at 1.30pm. Just so you know, the service at the counter closes at 2pm now, but if you're there on time you can make your purchases and sit and chat as long as we like. I'm looking forward to seeing all your happy smiling faces, especially since our last Monday meeting was cancelled.. . . and missing a few faces at arvo tea too. So if you're willing and able, come along for a friendly chat and catch up. See you all soon. Cheers GG See more

15.01.2022 I know it's a little late in the day, but on behalf of the Committee, I would like to wish members and followers a very Merry Xmas. It's definitely a hot one today and even hotter to come, so please do take care in the heat and do what what you have to do to keep cool I don't fair to well in the heat but am managing so far by staying at home. But don't let it deter you if you're well prepared with suitable clothing, hat and sunscreen. . . . .and water to keep you hydrated.... Hoping everyone is having a wonderful day with family and friends. Here's hoping that we all have an awesome prosperous New Year. Take care out there and hopefully see you all in 2019. Cheers and best wishes GG * * * * Merry Christmas Happy New Year See more

15.01.2022 Good afternoon everyone. Still awesome weather out there, so get out and enjoy it while you can Last night we held our monthly night meeting with very little attendence, in fact 3 committee members, and one group member with support person. In light of the decline in member numbers and attendence at meetings; we the committee have decided to make last nights meeting the last one for the year. The committee will reconvene in the beginning of next year and put our heads together to see where to from there. This break will also include the Saturday afternoon teas at St John of God Hospital. Feel free to comment on the group page if you wish. Please stay safe. I hope you all have a lovely Christmas (yes a few months away but it will fly by). Hope to catch up with you all in the new year. Cheers GG

14.01.2022 Saturday 1.30pm.... afternoon tea catch up at St John of God Hospital atrium cafe. See you there.

13.01.2022 Hi everyone, long time no contact I know but as you're probably aware, I've been preparing my parents deceased estate for sale. It has been a long painful drawn out 10 month haul but finally the house is being listed for sale as I post here. . . . ... .I have a comment from Cathy that has enquired about getting some help. I have replied to Cathys comment but probably not much help to her. So if anyone on here can assist her in any way, please do so. Here's what she wrote. . .... . . . " Hi Juanita, I have just sent a message to join your group.I am suffering a lot of flare ups and suffer a number of chronic pain disabilities.I never thought about a fibromyalgia group until just then.I desperately need advice my dr cannot give. However I rarely go out at night.I see the group has finished for the year.Is their contacts I can get in touch with that may help me in anyway possible. Congratulations on starting this group and I hope you enjoy good health.cathy" See more

08.01.2022 Hi everyone. What glorious weather we're having at the moment I hope you're all out enjoying it like me today. . . . unless you're going to be spending the day inside watching the footy this arvo Not for me though, I will be busy fitting out new bird aviaries Our Monday night meeting has approached quickly again. Sorry for having to cancel last meeting but these things happen. So this up coming Monday the 24th, we will come together for our 3rd last meeting for the year ...at 7pm, at North Bendigo Bowls Club, Fenton Street North Bendigo. We can discuss what ever you like at this meeting; whether it be about services available, medications, what you've accomplished from the last time we caught up, doctors, what you would like to happen within the group, likes, dislikes etc, anything really, so a free speech night. It would be great for you to show your hands if you're coming along for the night, just so that the numbers justify holding this meeting. Hope to see you all then. Cheers GG See more

08.01.2022 A post from Dee. . . Hi All. If anyone is seeking a support group in between catch ups there is the Bendigo Young Women’s Arthritis Support Group. The next catch up is Monday 10 Dec at the RSL. All welcome . Dee. . . .thanks for this Dee. Is there an age limit? Cheers GG

06.01.2022 Hi Everyone, Recently there was a questionnaire sent out to people that are/have been paid members of our support group. A couple of our committee members sat down yesterday went through all the questionnaires that have been returned. Out of approx 40 that were sent out 15 were completed & returned. Although we would have loved to have had more returned, the ones received have given us some great information & feedback on people’s thoughts, feelings & opinions.... In a nutshell the feedback was the following: The main things members get from the group are: Friendship, support, understanding and acceptance & information. The main reason members don’t attend meetings regularly is: Illness, negativity Meeting Venues: most people are happy with current venues however there were a few negatives with the main one being the Bowls Club being to big & unwelcoming. SJOG feedback was that there aren’t many healthy food options & that the cafe shuts too early. Suggestions of making the Saturday catch up earlier (E.g. 11am) to make best use of cafe OR Lunch at a pub (eg the National has a small room that would be a good suit) has been put forward. A few suggestions have been put forward for possible new venues. The Bendigo Library is one of the most logical suggestions. Facebook page/group: 9 of the 15 replies said they access it however it needs to be more member friendly (don’t get notifications, member posts get lost/not seen etc). Group Name: Chronic Illness Support Group was the most suggested for the name change (it’s a more holistic & inclusive name than what we currently have). Group Continuation: 14 members said that they want the group to continue, 1 was undecided. All in all we have received a LOT of great feedback that we can take on board. But if anyone has any feedback they would like to add we would love to hear from you. Gentle hugs to you all Xx
