23.01.2022 As of 0800 on the 1st July 2020 it will mark a historical date for Victorias Fire Services. Victoria will see an amalgamation of the Metropolitan Fire Brigade and the Career Firefighters and Officers of the Country Fire Authority. They will be known as Fire Rescue Victoria. This change will have an impact on the Bendigo CFA. The 51 Career Firefighters and Officers who are appointed to the Bendigo CFA will be leaving the Brigade to become the inaugural employees of Bendigos ...Fire Rescue Victoria Station 73. Those members will continue to provide you with the service you have grown to know - Emergency Medical Response, Hazardous Material Incidents, Road Crash Rescue Support, and of course the containment and suppression of all types of Fires. Station 73 will be located at 145 Hargreaves Street, the same location where Bendigos Firefighters have been since 1983. The long and proud history of Bendigo CFA will continue to exist, providing a support role to Fire Rescue Victoria locally, surrounding brigades and of course, the state of Victoria during the bushfire season as a fully Volunteer Fire Brigade. Bendigo CFA will continue to be located at the co-located CFA/Fire Rescue Victoria Station in Hargreaves Street. As our Career Firefighters branch away to continue to provide fire and rescue services to our community with FRV, there will still be a fire truck responding to incidents today as they were yesterday, however the badges and uniforms may be different. 22.01.2022 Tomorrow has been declared a TOTAL FIRE BAN Tomorrow Thursday the 19th of December has been declared a Total Fire Ban for the Northern Country and North E...ast Fire districts of Victoria. No fires can be lit or be allowed to remain lit in the open air from 12:01 AM until 11:59 PM. Tomorrow in Bendigo there is an expected temperature of 38 Degrees and a fire Danger Rating of Severe! Conditions tomorrow are expected to be hot and dry and if a fire was to start it may be uncontrollable in the first instances. If you see any Emergency services proceeding lights and sirens please move out of the way as minutes could count in this weather. If Emergency Services are parked or moving slowly on the roadway with their red and blue lights flashing please abide by the 40 k/ph road speed if applicable. The safest thing you can do is enact your fire plan now! Please keep yourself hydrated and check on your elderly neighbours and family. Please do not leave children or pets in cars. Your safest option is to leave early until the conditions cool down especially if your property is unprepared. It is your responsibility to know what you CAN and CAN NOT do during the fire danger period and Total Fire Ban days. CFA will take a ZERO tolerance to illegal burning off during the FDP and Total Fire Ban days. If you are traveling please be aware of the conditions along your route and at your destination. For any warning please visit the following link - https://www.cfa.vic.gov.au/warnings-restrictions Or down load the VicEmergency APP from the Apple store or Google Play. This page DOES NOT post real time warnings.

06.01.2022 After 44 years as a career firefighter, our very own LFF Bob Lindsay called time on what has been a fantastic career. Yesterday Bob worked his last shift with us and was able to enjoy the company of firefighters and old friends both past and present that he has worked alongside. At age 13 Bob turned up at the Kangaroo Flat Fire Brigade and became a junior member due to many fires occurring in the area at the time. At 16 he became a volunteer and at 22 years old Bob made firef...ighting his career - a total of 53 years service with the CFA (Country Fire Authority) He is the only member to have worked at both the old view street fire station and the current Bendigo FS on Hargreaves street. He has seen many changes over this time, but he has always remained a positive and motivated firefighter who would always give his time and share his wealth of knowledge and experience with others, particularly with younger firefighters. A great colleague, mentor and friend, we congratulate Bob on his service to the community and wish him the very best with his retirement and future endeavours. https://www.bendigoadvertiser.com.au//bendigo-firefighter/ CFA Chief Officer The Bendigo Advertiser JG
