25.01.2022 STATEMENT FROM BENDIGO HERITAGE ATTRACTIONS REGARDING COVID-19 PANDEMIC - 17 March 2020 Due to the current public health concerns around the COVID-19 pandemic, it has been decided that most of Bendigo Heritage Attractions’ (BHA) tourist sites will be temporarily closed to the public as of 9:00am Wednesday 18 March 2020 for a period of four weeks in line with the State of Emergency declaration by the Victorian Government. This includes the Bendigo Tramways, Central Deborah Gol...d Mine and Bendigo Joss House Temple. This has been a very difficult decision, however, the health and safety of our staff and visitors is our number one priority. As a not for profit organisation, the pressures on our business in light of declining patronage were also a key consideration and we believe that the decision to close most of our operations will put BHA in the best possible position to remain strong and reopen as soon as government and medical advice gives us the all clear to do so. In the interim, Central Deborah Gold Mine’s souvenir shop and the surface tour of the gold mine with small groups will continue to be available to the public, however all underground tours will cease. We would like to reiterate that this is a temporary measure and we will be reassessing the situation on a daily basis until we are in a position to return to normal operations. BHA are working with our team members and volunteers to support them through this difficult period as best we can. We are, as always, very grateful to our community for their ongoing support of Bendigo’s rich heritage and look forward to the day when we can once again show off all our wonderful treasures and share the fascinating stories that our City has to offer. For further information regarding our operations and bookings please call 54438322. Thank you for your understanding and support. James Reade CEO Bendigo Heritage Attractions For further information regarding this statement please contact: James Reade on the number above during office hours.

20.01.2022 The finishing touches are being put on top of the Great Stupa of Universal Compassion in #Bendigo. This has been a 16 year build, but many more years in the pl...anning. It is the largest Buddhist shrine outside Asia, and has been built to last 1,000 years. This piece being placed by crane is the first of a number of additions that will be put on top today, including bespoke work from #Nepal of traditional Buddhist artwork featuring prayers and mantras, and locally constructed pieces. We will have more coverage on radio and Facebook once this painstaking process is complete! ( Fiona Parker)

19.01.2022 Did you miss the lifting of some of the final pieces of The Great Stupa? Come along to the official unveiling on Friday 31 January at 10:30am. The last 5 metres (which will be added just a few days prior) will be unveiled in a special ceremony!

05.01.2022 Did you know that the main altar of the Bendigo Joss House Temple is dedicated to Guan-Di? Guan-Di was considered to be a wise judge, guide, protector and provider of wealth and prosperity - all the qualities that worshipers needed on the Bendigo goldfields.

04.01.2022 Update from Bendigo Heritage Attractions CEO, James Reade: Bendigo Heritage Attractions has made the decision to temporarily close Central Deborah Gold Mine and Bendigo Joss House Temple to the public from Friday 31 July 2020. The Bendigo Tramways Workshop remains operational but is closed to the public. The Talking Tram Tours are not currently operating. ... Our primary focus is the safety of our team members as well as the need to ensure we are able to provide our customers with a great experience whilst remaining economically viable. The escalation of COVID-19 cases in Victoria, including an increase in cases within Bendigo was a key factor in making this decision. When it is safe to do so, we can't wait to welcome our customers back. Thanks for your understanding and on-going support.
