18.01.2022 Hi All, Started putting together all the TTV photos in one spot. I've just added in all the photos from this facebook group (about 1,400) plus all the ones I h...ad at work and some CD's I found in storage. We would like to first get all the digital copies of photos first, then at a later stage get scanned copies of physical photos. Also looking for someone(s) to help tag the photos we have. I've been uploading them into albums, but each photo needs tags (i.e.event, name(s), year, location, category). So far I have 2,863 photos uploaded the Flickr account. We would like to be able to do things like search "Tuckett" and all the various photos of Bob appear, or "news" and all the newspaper articles come up. Send me an email on [email protected] (or a facebook message) if you would like to help out at all in either a) unloading more photos you have b) tagging the photos Cheers, Claire Montgomery TTV Events & Clubs Officer

16.01.2022 All Members, Gary Warnest will be putting an announcement on the website shortly but in the meantime please stay safe. With the announced changes to restriction in Bendigo to stage 3 from midnight Wednesday the club has determined that all pennant play will cease immediately.... Tuesday morning social will be held and the stadium will be open on Tuesday night and Wednesday night for any players wanting last hit before the 6 week shutdown that officially starts this Thursday. The committee will look at how we go about recommencing competition in September. One option will be to restart from when we left off. If the season is cancelled and we go straight into our summer season we will look at refunding the weekly fees that were paid in advance (but not the money that was used to pay your TTV registration). Also note, the Annual General Meeting planned for 26 August will be postponed. The AGM will be rescheduled to Wednesday 30th September. Michael Bissett Secretary

11.01.2022 ******* Updated 10:50 am 26/10/2020 . Players will also have the option of donating the refunded amount to the club. To allow the completion of the winter pennant (including finals) the likely restart dates are as follows :- A grade will resume - TBC - requires OK for COMMUNITY SPORT TO RESUME B grade will resume - TBC - requires OK for COMMUNITY SPORT TO RESUME C grade - TBC - requires OK for COMMUNITY SPORT TO RESUME The Grand Final will be held on Wednesday 16th December. For those wanting a social hit... Friday senior social - TBC - requires OK for COMMUNITY SPORT TO RESUME Friday juniors will commence this week on 30th October Tuesday social - TBC - requires OK for COMMUNITY SPORT TO RESUME You SHALL sign in in entry to the stadium. This is the same process as applied prior to the lockdown. There will be strict limits on numbers (groups of 10) and like the last restart sign in, sanitiser, etc to be used. Use sanitiser when entering and after each set you play. Once in the stadium you must strictly remain within your designated area if play. This will include he warm up. And most importantly if you are feeling unwell you should not attend the stadium. If you are in the TT stadium and allocated table 1-6 you must remain only on these tables. If you are in the TT stadium and allocated tables 7-12 you all’s must remain on those tables. If you are allocated a table in the badminton stadium you are required to remain on the two tables that sit on the side of the drop down curtain. Please limit movements and keep the corridors clear. The foyer continues to remains off limits during the night. These 10 person restrictions will remain in place till the government increases the allowed indoor group size from 10-20. 09.01.2022 Bendigo Table Tennis notes the announcement made by TTV regarding the 2021 Country Championships. Bendigo Table Tennis is disappointed to hear that TTV has announced that the 2021 (70th Anniversary) Country Championships will NOT be held in country Victoria, how disappointing for all country players. In 2019 BDTTA was given advice by the TTV CEO that it could have the Country Championships for 2020 and 2021 and that is why it was announced at the 2019 event. ... Bendigo Table Tennis did not believe that it was either practical or reasonable to hold a two day event in Bendigo or anywhere else (considering COVID-19) over the Melbourne Cup Weekend and circumstances have now proven that to be correct. This has now been taken as a fact that Bendigo Table Tennis did not want to host the the 2020 Country Championships or even the 2021 Country Championships. Just to clear the record, Bendigo Table Tennis definitely was to host the 2020 Country Championships that was proven to not be possible. Bendigo Table Tennis is prepared to and be honoured to host the prestigious 70th Anniversary Victorian Country Championships in Bendigo in 2021 despite rumours to the contrary. In lieu of 2020 Bendigo should host the 2021 Event. Bendigo Table Tennis are bemused by the fact that if 49% of respondents to the TTV survey was an indication to move the event to MSAC, then surely 51% indicate that it should not??? Given this was stated as a major point in the announcement the full survey result should be published for all to be able to judge the survey on its merit. Written with the best intent for country Victorian players. Regards Bendigo & District Table Tennis Association Gary Warnest. Mark Conforti Michael Bissett President. Vice President. Secretary

09.01.2022 Hi All, With the change in COVID-19 Restrictions and pull backs announced by the Federal and Victorian Govt yesterday 20 June20 it was prudent to reconsider our Risk Assessment of our decision to reopen the BDTTA Stadium as of tomorrow Monday 22 June 20. I appreciate the feedback that I have been given by members of the committee, and whilst several have concerns I believe that we can continue to reopen as of 22 June 20 with the restrictions that we currently have in place.... The Govt Restrictions permit sporting stadiums to open with no more that 20 per area. What this latest round of restrictions and pull backs indicates is that although we are reopening we must all be extremely vigilant to obey all the restrictions and all players MUST fill in the attendance/contact registers on every occasion and observe social distancing. We have decided to defer opening the Friday Juniors program until 17 July 20 which is after the school holiday break. The Govt Restrictions have also encourage over 70yr olds to stay at home. Social and other players may choose to do that. Regards Gary Warnest President BDTTA

09.01.2022 The first State Umpires Course of 2021 is on at MSAC next month! Registration closes next week on Friday March 5th March 13 9am - 6pm MSAC ... $100 Please note you need to be a registered member of a club to sign up and to receive your accreditation, insurance coverage and to get work as an Umpire, but don’t worry, every club has the right category called Social/Officials/Coaches. Please head to the TTV website events page and select Officials Courses and then 2021 State Umpires Course #1 to register (Facebook is currently not allowing us to share links from the TTV website) We will post the link as soon as we can

08.01.2022 Work smarter, not harder

08.01.2022 Last night the BDTTA committee determined that the remainder of the 2020 Winter Pennant season will resume after the lock down ends in September. This will allow competition play to resume at the earliest possible date once the government goes back to Stage 2 restrictions. We hope that all players in A, B and C grades are able to return. The current draws will be updated and posted to the website shortly (based on the lockdown ending as scheduled). If you have any issues with... this arrangement please let the Grade Supervisor know. As the above means the current pennant won’t end till November we are going to take the opportunity to investigate the possible realignment of our pennant seasons. For many years BDTTA has run pennant in parallel with cricket and football seasons. The proposed change would align our playing year with the TTA/TTV calendar year registration. This would make pennant registration fee administration simpler (summer is split over two TTV registration years). But administration will not be the major driver for the change, we want to determine which arrangement will ensure we have the maximum number of people playing pennant each year. Both arrangements have pro and cons but it should be noted that approx 60-70% of A grade and B grade players play BOTH pennants. As this significant change it will only proceed if the survey clearly shows players support the change. Possible New Fixture Summer - Term 1 & 2 Winter - Term 3 & 4 Existing Fixture Summer - Term 4 & Term 1 with the 7 week break over Christmas Winter - Term 2 & Term 3 If the alternative is not accepted we would run a shortened summer pennant in 2021. I will shortly send a survey to 2019/20 summer and 2020 Winter players to determine if the following changes would suit players. So I ask you to keep an eye out for the survey (will likely be sent by email) and let us know your preferred fixturing. We are looking to do what is best for Club, but what that really means is doing what is best for you the players. The proposed change will not change our Juniors who will continue to be run on a term by term basis. Hope to see you all back playing soon but in the meantime may you and your family remain safe. Michael Bissett Secretary Bendigo and District Table Tennis

06.01.2022 Hidden away in a cheeky corner of town lies a little-known tale involving man’s best friend from the annals of history. Club X Bendigo marks the spot This stor...y begins in 1894 with a Bendigo businessman who seemingly respected his canine companions more than he did his fellow man and lives on today in the back room of the adult entertainment store in Queen Street. It might sound barking mad, but it’s true. Bendigo Magazine writer, Raelee Tuckerman, ventured into Club X/Twisted Toys recently (for research purposes of course) after hearing whispers about an old gravestone laid in loving memory of a dog named Fido. There surrounded by DVDs it was. A beautiful marble slab with golden letters honouring the faithful pet kept by flour mill proprietor William Webb. The four-storey W. Webb & Co. building on the corner of Williamson Street has stood the test of time and is now being transformed into residential apartments.
