22.01.2022 Winemaker Wednesday: Grangehill Vineyard was originally founded in 1870 but over time the property's vines were left discarded. When Russell Clarke purchased the property in 1994, he wanted to bring it back to its former glory using the original vineyard to grow grapes again. The original wine barn has been restored as Grangehill's cellar door (open in non-COVID times). No herbicides, no fertilisers and no pesticides are used on the vines. Grangehill is selling online during these times to keep you stocked up with great wine! #bendigowine #winemakerWednesday

14.01.2022 Winemaker Wednesday: An exciting new label to the Bendigo region is Black Wallaby Wines from David and Jayne Lawson and they're producing low intervention wines. If wine was a song to them, it would be 'Amarillo Sky' by Jason Aldean. David says, "It’s a song about working on the land together and ensuring the survival of your farm through hardships like drought, frosts and floods. Even through these challenges, there’s an undying love and passion you have as a farmer to produ...ce something really special from the land you work". They're still open for business during the coronavirus-lockdown for free local delivery, postage further afield, and they've even set up a drive-through cellar door for you. 04.01.2022 Winemaker Wednesday: When Ross Lougoon, a sheep shearer by profession, and wife Robyn took over their property in the 1980s, the vines had long run wild. They painstakingly nurtured and revitalised the vineyard and sold the grapes to other wineries. However, not long after, they started making their own wine - Connor Park Winery. The rest, as they say, is history. Today, the farm sports not only some of the oldest blocks of Shiraz in the region, but a number of other varietie...s as well, some centenerian lemon trees, and sheep that graze among the vines.
