18.01.2022 Still some tix available to my duo gig at Smith's Alternative this Sunday Oct 25 from 3-5pm. It’s going to be a bit of a special gig as I’ll joined by East Row Rabble keys extraordinaire Niall Howe playing a bunch of new music (along with a few oldies). Due to COVID we can only have 40 people so get your tix here: https://www.smithsalternative.com/events/ben-drysdale-69974 The gig is part of the Festival of Forgotten Minds, an initiative of my dear friend and co-writer Ralph Nelson, who helped me craft East Row Rabble's 'Aliens In My Brain' and 'Horns Make Happy'. The Festival of Forgotten Minds is a reminder of the importance of arts & music to people with mental illness. Something to brighten moods during a tough year.
15.01.2022 Stoked to see tomorrow’s gig at Smith's Alternative is sold out. Sorry if you were keen but missed out!
14.01.2022 Whatcha doin Saturday arvo?
14.01.2022 I’ve loved this song since I was a kid. So when composer/music supervisor extraordinare Jody Friedman put out a call for people all over the world to do a group cover to thanks first responders and essential workers during these crazy times I jumped on board. So great to take part in this with a bunch of new friends I’ve been collaborating with over the last year and a whole lot of people I’ve never met! Hadn’t quite figured out my mic technique on the home setup yet so I’m the one guy not looking at the camera coz I thought I needed to be that close to the mic

You can get your ticket here https://bit.ly/3bvjdD3 As there is a free option I’m just gonna go li...ve from a public FB event here: https://www.facebook.com/events/2476820809296748/?ti=icl Various pricing options from: 'I can't afford anything coz Coronavirus' ($0) to 'Happy with a tenner' (self explanatory) to 'Feelin pretty flush' ($20) to 'I'll give ya whatever I want thanks mate' (up to you).
12.01.2022 I did a fun thing last week for ABC Canberra breakfast's 'Parody Party'. Contributors Betsy, Rob, Dave, Laurene, Megan and Alison wrote new lyrics for 'Our House' by Madness in response to the Govt renovation stimulus package, and I sang/recorded it. Check it out! https://www.abc.net.au//parody-party-our-house---/12342792
12.01.2022 Thanks for coming and supporting original music in these tough times! I’m leaving this concert up for 2 weeks so you can while away almost 2 hrs of your isolation until then. Pay what you want for it here: https://bit.ly/3bvjdD3 I highly recommend using speakers or headphones. Had to be careful with the input level so it wouldn't distort but sounds great through anything but phone/laptop speakers! Hope you enjoy the tunes!... 12.01.2022 I'm going to be playing some tunes for Lerida Estate Wines Canberra on Sunday at 2pm... They make good wine AND they're paying musos for music! Gotta be a decent bunch... I'll be streaming from their page so tune in and check it out! https://www.facebook.com/events/837295723430520/
11.01.2022 Rained for the first 5 mins but then the sun came out for my set on the driveway for #internationalmakemusicday... thanks for heads up MusicACT!
10.01.2022 Somehow this one only made it to insta a week and a half ago when I took it... I was in at Amberly Studios again today working on another song but forgot to take any videos... can anyone guess what this one is? I couldn’t if I were you... I’ve played it in a couple of my live stream gigs but it’s still fresh so not one you’d know by heart and even if you did this doesn’t really give it away.
06.01.2022 Here’s the write up for my upcoming Live In Ya Lounge gig Ben Drysdale colours his heartfelt, honest, and cheeky lyrics with musical shades of folk, reggae, blues, funk and soul tailoring the energy of a set to the venue: whether engaging a thoughtful listening crowd or filling a dance floor.... Ben has been playing around Canberra and the East coast of Australia since 2004 both solo, and fronting a number of bands including Smitten, Beth n Ben, and most recently East Row Rabble, and has released five studio EPs and a full length live album across the various projects. He has played shows in the US, Ireland and Canada, received ArtsACT funding to attend the 2019 Hawaii Songwriting Festival, and was selected as a judge for the 2019 National Live Music awards. Festival credits include the National Folk Festival, Majors Creek Festival, Floriade, The Multicultural Fringe Festival, and Enlighten Festival with East Row Rabble, and the Manly Jazz Festival Stonefest, Corinbank Emersion Festival, Summer Rhythm Festival, Peats Ridge Festival, Bondi Love Jam, and the Northern Beaches Music Festival with Beth n Ben. Drysdale has played on bills with some of Australia's greatest including Paul Kelly and the Waifs, and international stars such as Chris Isaak. For his 'Live in ya Lounge' set, Ben will be accompanied by East Row Rabble keyboard extraordinaire Niall Howe, and play a mixture of songs from his various projects, as well as some new music he will be recording later this year at Amberly Studios for his first solo EP. Details about The Burley Griffin and other artists coming soon!

The song on this video is the first song Ralph and I ever wrote and was crafted for a series of mental health theatre shows called 'Imperfectly Sane'. Skid Row I woke up this morning Chilled to the bone These cardboard boxes Don't make no home I don't live In no happy valley I spend all my time In skid row alley I ain't seen my wife in 22 years So I'm a happily married man I find all I need to wear and eat In those big hopper garbage cans I ain't got no coin so I ain't go no food I'd get me a job if only I could I ain't got no money to be me no wine All I got's cordial and turpentine I knicked some clothes of sombody's line So I could look my best Well the judge was impressed All I got was a 50 buck fine I'm looking good, the best in years I just gotta keep my cool, keep away them fears I ain't got no coin so I ain't go no food I'd get me a job if only I could I ain't got no money to be me no wine All I got's cordial and turpentine
