24.01.2022 Phoenix Monti Giveaway!!!
23.01.2022 Join me as I dive into my first YouTube video with a Montipora fragging demonstration. In this video I share how I propagate Montipora danae from a live rock substrate. Thanks for watching & please subscribe to the BeneFishial TV channel! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V6-nfykzctA
22.01.2022 Touching base with Nanthus 20gal Nano Reef Tank. His vision of a Australophyllia wilsoni & Scolymia dominated coral cast is taking shape very nicely! Heres what he has to say: "Keeping it simple is working really well. The tank is keeping up with 20% weekly water changes for mineral replacement, seeing the success with this is motivation to keep to it. The corals are feasting on Vitalis LPS pellets and frozen foods, boosted with Coral Essentials Power Amino & Power Gro.... Im resisting the urge to follow coral buying trends and am holding out for the pieces that appeal to me and are part of my vision, maybe another Croc Island Scolymia. I also need to leave some space on the rocks for BeneFishial SPS frags which are currently acclimating on the rack. My favourite coral so far is the Bleeding Apple Scolymia (pictured). Ive also added a Rainfordi Goby who is currently the only fish in the tank."

13.01.2022 Under the current stage of lockdown in Victoria, BeneFishial is still operating as normal. I do understand however that many of my clients may have concerns about having me complete work in their homes given the current threat of COVID-19. Thats why Id like to make it known that I have taken the time to complete the Infection Control Training for the COVID-19 virus. I respect the health and wellbeing of my friends and clients, so I will continue working in a safe manner by practicing proper social distancing, and hygiene. If your aquarium is in need of some attention, theres no need to hesitate. Give me a call on 0400 151 432 or contact me here to book in your next service.
13.01.2022 Its not all saltwater here at BeneFishial, check out this tropical freshwater tank. First time fish keeper Lax contacted me earlier in the week: "Hi Jake can you please help, I purchased a house and inherited a large fish tank which divides the kitchen and living area. Ive never kept fish before. Id really like to reuse the decor already in the tank and setup for some easy to keep fish. I just want it to be like new again." All the equipment was shot, so new heaters, new pumps and filtration were installed directly into the bottom of the tank with diversions to mains water and drains for ease of maintenance. A quick turn around and another happy BeneFishial customer! If you need to restart your tank, please dont hesitate to contact me on 0400151432.
12.01.2022 BeneFishial Aquarium Profile - Michaels 500L Reef Tank Michaels 4 year old reef tank displays a beautiful mix of soft and hard corals, mostly SPS. During this time Michael has built up a strong combo of life-support equipment. This makes for a seamless maintenance job, I really enjoyed this one. We have some big plans for this reef and the one next to it (Yes theres another reef tank). Keep posted! Vision:... "This tank will transition to an LPS tank and also be my grow out tank frags. The other reef will transition to be my sps coral display tank (currently a soft coral/anemone tank). I was sold on the new 5th generation Ecotech Radions I saw at Underwater Pet Expo the other week, so the Hydra 26 lighting will be replaced. I also want to replace the filter socks with a filter mat and swap the Sicce pump for a Neptune Cor-20. The tank is doing amazingly dosing Coral Essentials blue labels, next up will be the black label range starting with Vibrance+ and Chroma+ Equipment: Tank: Sumped Custom 120cm x 60cm x 60cm Brains: Neptune Apex 2016 controller Dosing: Neptune DOS Heating: 2x AquaOne Heaters Return Pump: Sicce Syncra 4.0 Waves: 3x Ecotech Vortech MP40QD Display Lights: 2x Aqua Illumination Hydra 26HD + 2x Kessil a360WE Tuna Blue Refugium Light: Kessil h80 Auto-top off: Tunze Osmolator 3155 Mechanical Filtration: Filter Socks + Dalua GW10 Skimmer Biological Filtration: AMS Nano-tech BioBlocks + Macroalgae Chemical Filtration: AquaForest Carbon & Phosphate Minus Supplements: Randys Mix #1 (Calcium, Alkalinity, Magnesium) + Coral Essentials Power Trace A,B,C & Power Aminos and Power Gro Livestock: SPS corals: Montis, Birdsnest, Poccis, Acros. Invertebrates: A clean up crew of turbo & Trochus snails.
11.01.2022 BeneFishial Aquarium Profile - Nanthus 20 gallon (Nano) Reef Tank Small (Nano) reef tanks can be challenging. The small water volume often translates to a decreased ability to dilute problems. I have a great appreciation for those up for the challenge of nano reefing. Nanthus is well prepared with this set-up and has some very cool pets planned. Im stoked to continue watching this aquarium come together. Vision: ... "The tank will be an LPS coral dominated mixed reef tank that features mainly Australophyllia wilsoni and Scolymia spp. I know these coral do better at cooler temperatures (23C), however being a mixed reef, I really want to try adapt warmer water loving species to coincide. I want to keep the equipment simple, I dont want to overcomplicate things. I prefer not to have to add many additives, I would like to maintain mineral uptake with water changes only... though I will be using the Coral Essentials Black Label range." Equipment Selected: Tank: Waterbox Cube 20 Heating: AquaOne Heater Return Pump: Sicce Syncra 1.0 Waves: Ecotech Vortech MP10QD Lights: 2x Illumagic Blaze Mini Mechanical Filtration: Floss + Sponge Biological Filtration: Maxspect Nano-tech BioSpheres Chemical Filtration: Blue Life Clear FX Pro Planned Livestock: LPS corals: wilsoni, scollies, micro lords and Duncans. SPS corals like Montis (digis, Phoenix, Goldrush) & birdsnest. The bottom right rock will be a zoanthid garden. Fish: Frostbite clownfish, tiger blenny, Rolands damselfish and possum wrasse. Invertebrates: A clean up crew of turbo snails featuring a red-line cleaner shrimp.

04.01.2022 Happy to see this tank within a high school science lab come together. Now at the 'grow out' stage. I inherited this tank with majority of the equipment failed and no real theme. Pretty much everything has been replaced and is running smoothly. I really want to incorporate pressurised CO2 for the plants to bloom under these super bright halide/fluorescent hybrid lighting system. I've moved on the previous random inhabitants and have introduced new animals that compliment the ...theme I'm going for here - Australian Tropical Freshwater biotope. Now we have: - A school of Iriatherina werneri (Threadfin Rainbowfish) - A school of Pseudomugil gertrudae (Spotted blue eye) - A group of Caridina sp. (Darwin Rednose Shrimp) - A handful of Notopala waterhousei (Native Waterhouse snails) Cheers to Dave at AQUAGREEN for the hook up. Super cool! Will keep you all updated with how they settle in. Jake
