16.01.2022 A few tips on how to wear masks before it becomes mandatory across all of Victoria to wear face coverings from Sunday 11:59pm.

14.01.2022 To our NSW clients, Until you are able to obtain a government permit to cross the border, we will be able to provide you with a letter from the Australian Veterinary Association to support pet owners crossing the NSW/Victoria border to access essential veterinary services, as well as a confirmation of appointment letter to present at the border. Clients should also carry evidence of their home address to ensure there are no problems. Please allow time if you need to detour... with the Abbortsford bridge closure and expected delays crossing back in to NSW. For further information, please contact the clinic during business hours, or in case of emergency contact our on call veterinarian. Edit 8/7/2020: the AVA have now advised their letters are unlikely to be sufficient -you must get a permit through Service NSW to avoid quarantine.

14.01.2022 Reminder: Social distance measures still remain in place. This means that only one person should be bringing your animal into the clinic. Where possible, wait in your car after check in or outside, particularly during peak consulting hours. Only one person per chair in the waiting room. Only one person will be allowed in a consult room with the veterinarian (or vet nurse where applicable) and often your animal will be taken into the hospital area for a more thorough physical examination, injections, etc to allow social distancing.

11.01.2022 PET EXCHANGE REGISTER From the 1st of July, 2019, the law has required any person or organisation who advertises the sale or give away of dogs and cats in Victoria to include a source number from the Pet Exchange Register and microchip number on their advertisement. From the 1st of July, 2020, the source number will be required when implanting a microchip into a dog or cat born after the 1st of July, 2020. This includes dogs and cats born outside of Victoria that are being ...microchipped in Victoria. The validity of the source number will be checked prior to implantation of a microchip, and it is encouraged that if you are getting a new dog or cat to check the validity of the seller on the Pet Exchange Register as well. For further information, or to apply for a source number refer to the following websites: http://agriculture.vic.gov.au//puppy/pet-exchange-register https://per.animalwelfare.vic.gov.au See more

06.01.2022 From 1 July 2020, if a person is mulesing sheep in Victoria, they must administer pain relief to those animals. This requirement is being introduced as part of ...the recent Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Regulations 2019. This means using a pain-relieving product registered for use on sheep by the Australian Pesticides and Veterinary Medicines Authority. Anyone unsure about what products they should be using should speak to their veterinary practitioner. Producers are being reminded that they are legally required to keep records of agricultural and veterinary chemical product(s) used on their farm, therefore full records of use of the registered pain relief product(s) must be kept. Details of these requirements can be found here: https://go.vic.gov.au/3NzLDt. Producers are also being encouraged to keep thorough records of their husbandry practices and pain-relief product purchases, including receipt of purchase and any other relevant details or documentation. For sheep producers who use mulesing in their flock, the requirement for pain relief provides better animal welfare outcomes, has productivity and financial benefits and enhances the reputation of Victoria’s sheep industry. From July 2020, if anyone mules’ a sheep without providing pain relief they may be fined $496 or, if taken to court a penalty of up to $3304 may be imposed. You can find more information on the POCTA Regulations 2019 at https://go.vic.gov.au/Gb1E9T. For further information on pain relief requirements refer to the VFF website https://bit.ly/2XyG23i.
