These scholarships provide financial support for students undertaking study in a University degree in 2021. Good luck to all students commencing their HSC exams today. We wish you all the very best for your exams and tertiary education and career pursuits in 2021 and beyond. ... Two of our 2020 scholarship recipients recently visited Bengalla to meet Cam Halfpenny General Manager Bengalla Mining Company. They are Ashley Halliwell (Muswellbrook High School) with her dad Matt and Alexander Bates (St Josephs High School Aberdeen). Bengalla are proud to be able to offer support to UHHS in these difficult economic times and our community is fortunate to have a dedicated team who are committed to reducing homelessness in the Upper Hunter.



19.01.2022 Congratulations to all of the 2019 scholarship recipients for a successful year and a wonderful concert. The Upper Hunter has many talented musicians and artists, and they are in good hands with the Upper Hunter Conservatorium of Music. Bengalla is once again very pleased to support local musical and vocal talent through the Peter Riddy Memorial Scholarship.

19.01.2022 Where There's A Will is a local organisation working with our schools and community to improve mental health and wellbeing in the Upper Hunter. They need your help! Their survey, targeted at 18 to 25 year olds has been extended and the aim is to help design develop and/or refine wellbeing initiatives in our local community. 18.01.2022 Youth Express coordinate work placements for students from 26 high schools in the Hunter Valley each year including Muswellbrook High School Official. This week Bengalla are hosting two such students, Aiden and Justin, as part of the electrotechnology VET courses they are studying for the NSW Higher School Certificate. As part of their 35 hours of work placement they have been given the opportunity to work across various areas onsite to assist with the practical component of their studies. Jane Thompson from Youth Express said, It is great that Bengalla are supporting senior high school students in their chosen vocational subject area and their HSC. It gives the students real life workplace experience and employers the opportunity to identify potential apprentices. #workplacement #workskills #workexperience #supportingyoungpeople

17.01.2022 It was wonderful to be invited to view the completed project of beautifying Merton Living and making it a homely environment. The space feels like home and now has lovely artwork hanging throughout. Well done to the team and to the residents who all contributed to the final design and colours.

14.01.2022 It was great to support the Westpac Rescue Helicopter Service Charity Event ‘Tamworth to the Tops 4wd Mystery Tour’ which took place last month. Our Senior Environmental Advisor, Pam Simpson, volunteered to escort the convoy of vehicles on the day. What a great event supporting a critical service for our region and well done Pam for your support on the day.



13.01.2022 We were very excited to welcome our 4 MIGAS Apprentices to site on Monday to begin their 4 year electrical or mechanical apprenticeship. We are blessed to be a part of their apprenticeship journey and helping locals succeed in their chosen career. Together with their parents they had the opportunity to meet Cam Halfpenny (General Manager), Warwick Gloster (Maintenance Manager) and Russell Hartin (CHPP Manager), as well as the apprentice coordinators Luke Holz, Craig loose a...nd Bruce Connelly. The apprentices will complete hands on work, TAFE and a 16 week stint at the Mining Skills Program as part of their apprenticeship. 11.01.2022 The Aberdeen Care Package Cadets create packages filled with goodies such as tim tams and lollies as well as toothpaste and deodorants and send them to our service men and women overseas. The team rely on community donations for items to pack in their care packages and we were only too happy to assist Carole, Bob, Joan and the young volunteers with a donation to enable them to fill 100 care packages. A big thank you to Carole, Bob and Joan for your invitation to Fiona and Taylah to visit you and your team last week.

08.01.2022 Bengalla are proud to have partnered with @Sandy Hollow Public School to provide 2 new aquaBUBBLERS for the school. The new water filling stations look fantastic and from the photos below the kids appear to be enjoying using them!

05.01.2022 Bengalla’s IT Support Officer Jonathan Walsh, has been busy behind the scenes refurbishing redundant computers from site for donation to schools, sporting clubs and not for profit community groups in our local area. The computers have been well received and will be used by many of the schools and community groups for training purposes. Our Undergraduate Scholarships are open for students studying any degree at an Australian University. Our Engineering Scholarship will see you workplace ready at the end of your degree. Choose a mining related Engineering degree (Mining, Electrical, Mechanical, Process, Chemical) and we support you with work placement throughout the four years.
