16.01.2022 Hang around while you’re hanging around. . It doesn’t make for entertaining viewing but give it a try. Anyone who’s jumped on a set of monkey bars as an adult knows that swinging by your arms is a lot more difficult than it looks when kids do it. . The dead hang is a great way to reconnect with your inner child while strengthening and lengthening your outer old person.... . The dead hang works and strengthens the following muscle groups: upper back; shoulders; core; forearms; hand and wrist flexors. . Other benefits of the dead hang include: . 1They feel great for the spine and may help it to decompress. This may be beneficial if you sit often or need to stretch out a sore back. . 2They improve grip strength. A strong grip isn’t just for holding your phone. Some studies show weak grip strength may be a risk factor for decreased mobility later in life. You need to have a strong grip whether you want to open a tight jar, rock climb or grip a barbell. . 3Dead hangs are also a nice stretch for the shoulders, arms, and back. . If you want a challenge try and hang for 2minutes without moving or repositioning your hands. It’s time to reset and build some new habits that will keep me moving towards my goals. Keep is simple by prioritising the big things before filling your day up with the small things....
