24.01.2022 MASKS ON FARMS From 11:59pm on Sunday face masks will become mandatory for all Victorians when out of their homes. Premier Daniel Andrews has this afternoon c...larified when masks need to be worn for those who live on farms. The premier called for a common-sense approach, and gave a number of situational examples of when a mask is required. Essentially: If youre working alone on your farm and not coming into contact with other people, a mask IS NOT needed. If youre working on your farm with people who live in the same house as you, a mask IS NOT needed. If youre working on your farm alongside people who do not live in the same house as you, a mask IS REQUIRED. If its a family farm and you and members of your household, then common sense tells you that you dont need to wear a mask, Mr Andrews said. But once you go past the front gate and go into town you would (need to wear a mask). The premier called for a common-sense approach and gave a number of situational examples of when a mask is required.nstance or if you have staff coming onto your property logic just says put your mask on because that person is not part of your household. Even though the farm is your home, thats then a workplace.

23.01.2022 FACE MASKS MANDATORY FOR ALL FROM AUGUST 2 The Premier has announced from Sunday August 2 at 11:59pm, a face covering will be mandatory whenever you leave home ... and wherever you live in Victoria. "I understand this will be a big step for some. But by covering your face, youre protecting your community, and protecting those extra freedoms your community enjoys," the Premier said. "By covering your face, youre keeping local businesses open, and keeping local people in work." The move comes after Victoria recorded a peak of 723 new COVID-19 cases and 13 deaths. From tonight, bans have now also been placed on visiting the following areas: Colac-Otway, Greater Geelong, Surf Coast, Moorabool, Golden Plains, and the Borough of Queenscliffe. See more

23.01.2022 Benloch Pre-fire season checklist Could you drive safely through this smoke This photo was taken on one of our Benloch roads during the 2015 fires in Benloch that occurred in this very month, 5 years ago. There was no visibility due to the smoke. This is why you should ALWAYS LEAVE EARLY. Even if your property is not yet under threat, your escape routes might already be.

12.01.2022 Whilst these suburbs might be a long way from Benloch we all have friends and family that need to be aware of and follow these restriction. Work together by staying apart. Make the effort to phone, FaceTime, Skype, Zoom those we know would be comforted by seeing our face and knowing we are checking to see they are safe and well.... Lets knock this one over by doing the right thing.

11.01.2022 Its school holiday time in Benloch and no doubt we will have more people out and about Just a reminder to stay safe out on the roads. Watch your speeds and remember that cars are not the only things on the roads; Horse riders, dog walkers, motorcyclists, bike riders and joggers. Remember this next time you go to turn into the next Benloch Street. SLOW DOWN if you see children, pets, horses or animals on the road. All of the mentioned can be mighty unpredictable, so bes...t to slow right down just in case. BE VIGILANT. Horses are easily spooked. When approaching a horse, slow down calmly and overtake calmly. Do no rev your engine, do not use your horn, watch the riders signals, and remember to give lots of room between yourself and the rider. Encourage our young riders to feel safe through your courtesy of them on our roads. INCREASE YOUR VISIBILITY. As for those venturing out onto our Benloch roads, high visibility vests for riders, joggers, horses, and animals alike can greatly help with your visibility. Be wary that if you are walking on Benloch roads, cars have right or way, so for your own safety, stick to the nature preserve and be aware that cars cant see you walking beyond the bend. StY vigilant! FORESEE TROUBLE AREAS. Whether you are in a car, on horseback, or riding your bike, take extra care on bends, crests and on narrow roads. If walking, try to stay off the roads with bends, and stay in the nature preserve. WEAR PROTECTIVE GEAR. Warmer weather brings the risk of motorcyclists/riders not wearing the correct protective gear. Whether it be a motorcycle, bike or horse, wear your helmet and protective gear. BE FIRE WARY; know that motorcycles CAN start fires in dry conditions. Make sure you check fire ratings for the day before you head out. Keep informed via Emergency Vic App. REPORT dangerous road behaviour to the police. Call 000 for emergencies. Lancefield Police Station can be contacted on 5429 2000. Thank-you for taking the time to read this, and thank-you to the Benloch Community Members who highlighted these safety concerns to the Benloch Brigade . Working Together as a community, we become a safer community. Have a happy and safe School Holiday Benlochians! 08.01.2022 GOODBYE & GOOD LUCK CHIEF Wishing CFA Chief Officer Steve Warrington AFSM all the very best for the future following the announcement of his resignati...on last night. 08.01.2022 CFA and SES assisting VicPol in search for missing teen Will Callaghan who was last seen yesterday afternoon on Mount Disappointment. ------ A further update ...in relation to our missing boy Will Callaghan at Mount Disappointment is that he is very energetic and we believe he could have covered a lot of distance. He is also very food focused and it would not be out of the question for William to walk into a house and go to the fridge or cupboard and help himself to food. He might also try to put himself to bed. So we are asking residents nearby and in the vicinity of Mount Disappointment to check bedrooms and outhouses and to contact Triple Zero (000) immediately if they sight William. Thank you to everyone who is searching for Will and for all of your shares. https://bit.ly/30i7Eww

08.01.2022 I know lots of parents and students have been waiting for this one so heres all the info you need on whats happening for Term 3. As we flagged last week, al...l schools in regional and rural Victoria except for Mitchell Shire will return to face-to-face learning as planned tomorrow. Years 11, 12, and specialist school students within Stage 3 restricted areas will also start back in the classroom. School holidays for Preps to Year 10s in Stage 3 restricted areas have been extended by a week and on the advice of the Chief Health Officer, theyll begin remote learning on Monday 20 July. Thats because while were doing everything we can to drive case numbers down, its really important not to have hundreds of thousands of kids and their parents and carers moving around every day. Few points to note: Well still have on-site supervision for any student who needs it whether thats because their parents are out working, for vulnerable kids, or those with disabilities who need extra support. All students attending class or on-site supervision in Stage 3 restricted areas will be temperature-checked daily. Kids leaving the Stage 3 area for school will also be temperature-checked each morning when they get there. Students who received a laptop or tablet to learn from home last term should still have these but well also be loaning out a further 1,000 devices and 2,500 dongles to make sure everyone has what they need to learn. School breakfast and lunch clubs will continue to run for any student that needs them whether theyre learning face-to-face or at home. For families on the edge of the boundary, whether students learn in the classroom or remotely is based on the location of the school not where you live. This ensures kids will be doing the same thing as their classmates regardless of their home address. Im sure people will be wondering Why these year levels and not others? We want to make sure all our VCE and VCAL kids across the state are in the same boat and everyone gets an equal chance to do their best. Plus Year 12s have next year to plan for and we want to make sure they have as much support as possible over the next six months. Feedback last term was that remote learning for specialist school students, their families and their teachers was incredibly challenging. Thats why weve made this call. I know people will have differing views and mixed feelings about this. I know kids will miss their mates. And I appreciate that it probably feels a bit unsettling for everyone students and parents alike. My heartfelt thanks for your patience and resilience. There might be a few blips along the way but were doing our utmost to make this transition as smooth as possible. And finally, to our hard-working teachers and school staff: Thank you for everything. You are truly irreplaceable.

07.01.2022 Willow Bourke’s emergency and aviation skills and expertise can be called upon during emergencies such as fires and floods. In her non-emergency role, Willow w...orks to manage critically endangered species including the brush-tailed rock-wallaby colony in East Gippsland and over summer she is an on-the ground firefighter with experience with the rappel crew. Rappellers descend ropes out of helicopters and are often the first firefighters on the ground attacking fires in remote forest areas of Victoria. Willow recently qualified as an Air Observer, therefore when emergencies occur, she plays a critical role in ensuring that the Incident Management Teams managing the emergency have a big-picture overview for how the emergency is progressing and that ground crews have accurate mapping. She also observes and reports back critical situational information such as changes in fire behaviour and detecting emerging hazards. She navigates for operational officers on reconnaissance flights and communicates important information via radio with other aircraft and ground crews. #WeWorkAsOne #WOAW21

Removing flammable mulch from around your house is a must in a fire prone area like Benloch. It is extremely dangerous if used within a 10-metre radius of your home especially under windows. 01.01.2022 This is incredibly concerning. Of the 3,810 Victorians who tested positive for coronavirus over the past three weeks, almost 90 per cent kept going about their... business after they began to show symptoms. Thats 3,400 people who kept going to work. Kept going to the supermarket. Kept caring for loved ones. Then, after having a test, 53 per cent did not isolate at home while they waited for the results. That means 2,056 people carried on as usual despite being concerned enough or sick enough to go and get tested. This is not about apportioning blame or pointing the finger. Its about recognising that far too many people are either not taking this seriously enough or theyre having to make an impossible choice. A choice between putting the safety of their colleagues and the community first and putting food on the table. Far too many people dont have sick leave entitlements. Far too many people cant afford to miss a shift. This is an indictment on the insecurity of our workforce and a conversation we as a society must have. But for now, we have to deal with the immediate health crisis were facing. So I implore all Victorians: if youre sick, get tested immediately. Stay home. Dont go to work. Waiting for the results has to mean exactly that. It cant mean Hopefully Ill test negative, so Ill just keep going to work in the meantime. If doing the right thing results in lost income, well help you. We have $1,500 hardship payments available for anyone who tests positive and their close contacts and if we need to extend the criteria on this, we will. The most important thing is to slow the spread. That means if you start to feel sick, you should assume you have the virus and behave accordingly. Stay home. Isolate. And keep your workmates and your loved ones safe.
