24.01.2022 Fresh footprints this morning! #benlomond

24.01.2022 With the snow season soon approaching it is a good time to start preparing for driving in alpine conditions. Check your car's battery, have good tyres, snow chains and plenty of fuel to get you there and back. Please obey all signage and follow all directions from Parks and Wildlife officers. #snowsafe #benlomond #skipatrol http://snowsafe.org.au/driving-in-alpine-areas/

22.01.2022 Have a read of this article in The Examiner today. As we feared, there was an incident on Ben Lomond yesterday. With no ski patrol presence on the mountain two ambulances and the rescue helicopter were deployed to an incident that could have been dealt with by our midweek patroller and a single ambulance. Our absence resulted in the patient laying out on the snow injured for over 2 hours and a hefty bill for the Tasmanian Government & the taxpayer. Thanks to the good samari...tans who stayed with, and helped keep the patient warm until further helped arrived in our absence. In previous seasons the mid-week ski patrol service has been provided by the BLSP and been employed via the PWS. This year the PWS has stood down the mid-week patroller when the lifts are not operating against the advice of the BLSP. A deviation on practice in previous years. The aim of the Ben Lomond Ski Patrol remains "to provide world class first-aid treatment and advanced emergency care to the Ben Lomond community and visitors to the ski field during the ski season." 19.01.2022 Well done Mt Mawson Ski Patrol!

19.01.2022 Following a positive meeting with a representative from the Parks and Wildlife Service, the Ben Lomond Ski Patrol is pleased to advise that we will be recommencing on mountain Ski Patrol operations as of Wednesday the 26th of August. These operations are inclusive of both midweek and volunteer weekend patrol operations. We have now obtained authority to provide Ski Patrol services for the remainder of the 2020 season, irrespective of any ski lift operations. We will be opera...ting for the remainder of the 2020 season, in consultation with both commercial operators on the mountain. Once again we thank you for your ongoing support through this season, which has been challenging for all of us. 18.01.2022 Ski patrol reccomends that all mountain uses wear a helmet whilst enjoying the snow. Helmets may make a difference in reducing or preventing head injuries. For more info on enjoying the snow safety, head to snowsafe.org.au

16.01.2022 Good Morning Tassie! Around 3cm of snow late last night on our lovely mountian. We had gale force winds following some warmth so lots of surface movement as is the trend this season. This means some ice scars to watch out for underfoot but also deep powder stashes about to cartwheel through and build snow palaces! Currently 20-30km/h wind from the west and 7 degrees, high overcast cloud that is burning off quickly.... The forecast is looking windy but this wind chill will keep things cool enough to preserve the base with top up snow showers all next week! Please head to the Alpine Enterprises webpage or Snowsports Facebook page for updates on commercial activites today and this weekend. If you need us, we will be here. For assistance, please ring the doorbell as per our Covid Safe Plan, or ask a commerical operator to radio us if we are out and about. Better yet a big wave and grin is always returned!

13.01.2022 A great little video about alpine road safety! Remember all vehicles travelling to Ben Lomond must carry snow chains and fit them as directed by Parks and Wildlife officers. #snowsafe https://www.facebook.com/197464313711188/posts/1215817615209181/?sfnsn=xmmo

12.01.2022 A great start to the season up here today! The sun is shining (at times) and there is a good base. Fingers crossed for some top up snow falls this week. #benlomond #2019season

12.01.2022 Welcome to the weekend! The weather conditions aren't as favourable as yesterday, but the snow conditions are still looking good after yesterday's fresh 3cms. Currently 25-35km/h winds from the west and degrees, high overcast cloud that is burning off quickly.... The forecast today is looking overcast and windy with a maximum of 9 degrees. While it's windy & increasing, these conditions will help preserve the base ready for the forecast snow next week! Head to the Alpine Enterprises website, or Ben Lomond Snow Sports Facebook page for updates on commercial activities this weekend. Stay safe out there, and remember if you need us, our team of volunteers will be here all weekend. If you need assistance, please approach us, keeping a safe distance, ring our doorbell, or ask a commercial operator to radio us if we are out and about. Looking forward to seeing you all out and about this weekend!

09.01.2022 This weekend the Ben Lomond Ski Patrol attended the 46th Tasmanian Sand Enduro at the Peron Dunes to provide first aid services. Thankfully it was an uneventfull weekend on the medical front. Well done Sand Patrol!

06.01.2022 As we wrap up what has been a challenging season for everyone, The Ben Lomond Ski Patrol would like to thank the Ben Lomond Community for their continuing support. Thank you to our volunteers who have given their time to patrolling and training weekends earlier in the year and thank you to those who work tirelessly throughout the year preparing behind the scenes. Let's hope for a bigger, better, whiter season next year!... Time to hand the hill back over to the locals ~A
