25.01.2022 Sorry bit late this morning.... is so comfy! Not much to say other than we are here. Snow did not fall last night, so we have zip, none, sweet f... If the forecast snow does not arrive by Tuesday night, we may have to revert back to being open on Saturday and Sunday. This is the season we were dreading, but throw in Covid just makes it a bit harder.... 25.01.2022 Well what a difference a day makes !! We have had heavy rain up here over the past few hours, the damage to the snow is awful! The flood watch warnings for the NE Basin are predominately made up of the snow melting and disappearing down the rivulet! Absolute bummer Anyway we are open shuffle busses are out working, no need to de ice them this morning! Cafe will be pumping out hot food, coffee and hot chocolate till 4 today. 24.01.2022 Ben Lomond doing what it does best!! Horrible one day, beautiful the next. After liquid snow for hours yesterday, it turned to real snow and whammo, we have a good cover again So today, we are open for equipment hire, cafe and the shuffle busses will be operating on demand, so please call us on 0487 140 248, if you would like a lift up. It is really really cold, and I think the boardwalk will be very icy. The wind last night was incredible so again there will be snow ...drifts everywhere. Be careful. It was so windy last night, that Geoffy had white caps in his cup of tea.... honest! I think our 4 WD troopies will be wearing their chains today, on their Geolander Snow Tyres soft compound and we are happy with them ! 22.01.2022 Change of plans, again. So today Parks and Wildlife have changed their minds on the operating issue for Ben Lomond Ski Patrol ! Yeah !!! All back on track, so Ski Patrol will again be on the mountain 7 days a week. We now feel confident in hiring out equipment again. We will be open : Wednesday 10 - 3 Thursday 10- 3... Chains on their wheels( and they are 4WD), Also they have full tanks of fuel as no fuel available after you leave launceston, and as they are sleeping on the mountain tonight they have anti freeze in their tummies!! 19.01.2022 Ok folks we have snow!! Heaps of snow in deep drifts everywhere! Absolutely incredible So yes we will be open. The road may have to be cleared again , we are waiting to be advised on that from Parks and Wildlife ... Getting up the boardwalk will be a challenge for the first few people. Yesterday, honestly the people here, were powder swimming to get through the deep snow drifts. The handrail on the boardwalk in some places is poking up about 20 cm above the snow!!! So shuffle busses will be really slow today, so please be patient ! Flea

19.01.2022 Hi All, Did a post early today, think it is still in cyberspace, doing circles. So from what I remember I had to say was... Yes we are going to be open Saturday and Sunday from 10-3. It has snowed a bit, so no where near full cover, but enough for snow play, toboggans maybe. cafe ready to go with hot food, and the trusty old Shuffle Busses will be doing their trips up and down from the lower car park to the top, both days.... We are still doing a bit of clearing out of some ex-hire equipment, boards, skis, clothing and boots. Please remember we can not fit boots over the phone or email, you do really need to try them on. 16.01.2022 Morning, Beautiful sunny day up here on Ben Lomond. A every special day in the making. About -4 outside, and inside too! Open Friday 7th August 10 - 4. Because of the problems this season , Covid wise, snow wise and any other problems thrown at us, we will post the opening hours for each week. So at the moment that means we will be open every day, till at least 16 thAugust,and this will be a week by week season!... Now I have the usual snow chain blast .... 1. It a Tasmanian Parks and Wildlife rule that ALL VEHICLES read ALL VEHICLES, must carry chains on entering the Ben Lomond Nat Park and fit them where and when directed! 2. So that means ..... after you have passed maybe the 5 th sign that says FIT CHAINS, probably have the conversation with yourself, that maybe I should put chains on . 3. If you do not have chains, it is not a challenge to see if you can get up Jacobs Ladder and take the all important selfie, it is bloody dangerous to you and maybe even others who have just as much right as you to get to the snow safely. 4. If all this is too hard, just catch the shuffle bus up from the lower car park, you do not need chains to get to that point! Easy please respect other users of the road. Ice on the Ladder yesterday afternoon, caused so many problems. And our drivers are not there as policemen. Flea

16.01.2022 Hi hi Very busy weekend up here, thanks to a very hard working team in and around the mountain. We have not had any snow in the past 24 hours, but a very icy night. We will be open today 10-3. The shuffle bus will be operating from then as well. Great snow play and toboggan conditions, we will be hiring out equipment if you would like to have a go at boarding or skiing. Cafe on the go with limited food till the truck arrives with more supplies hopefully mid morning. ... Also sorry if you tried to ring yesterday, we did not have time to even scratch ourselves and the phone carrier was playing up! Had to have a few hours after work getting it fixed so today, will be better. And all our love to our Andy who had a major health issue up here yesterday , and thank you to all the offers of help from visiting medics on the mountain, and of course those wonderful volunteers at Ben Lomond Ski Patrol. 15.01.2022 Well it is definitely getting towards the end of the season for us at Snow Sports. The snow has been further munched away by the really strong overnight winds, but there are still patches of snow. We will not be hiring out ski or board equipment today, sorry. Cafe will be open, with all thee food Nete can find, hot chippies and coffees are great. So if you would like to say and bye we will be here !... I will Post again mid week to see if conditions have changed. I think all the animals and wildlife that call Ben Lomond home , will be sad to see us go, but they can climb back under the cosy rocks and houses till next season . BLSS Team

We are still here hoping for snow and will be till at least Sunday, then we will review to see what maybe on for the week of the 16 th to 23 August. 14.01.2022 Hi All, Might be our last day of trading tomorrow . The snow was so well used today by the many visitors and it was such a lovely sunny day, the rocks are rearing their ugly heads, making it a bit nasty out on the white area. So we will make the call now to say that we will be closed on at least Monday, Tuesday Wednesday and Thursday, and see what happens if forecast snow does arrive on Tuesday and Thursday night, we might just get the weekend operating and that is only a ...maybe. Sorry about this but we need snow on the ground to make opening the doors viable. So if we are closed, that means No shuffle bus. No equipment hire. No cafe. Nothing from Ben Lomond Snow Sports. 14.01.2022 Cold cold cold and blowing like .... So a little bit of snow last night, still not enough for us to rent out the big stuff, skis and boards, so we are happily organising snow man building, tobogganing and snow ball fights! If you have your own boards and skis, you can still come up and use them, as people were doing yesterday ! When it was snowing during the afternoon yesterday it was great to see the snow being enjoyed by so many. Still no Ski Patrol. I have had it expla...ined to me that it is in house political , by that I would say Parks and Wildlife. So who knows what can happen and when that will be sorted, we hope soon as yesterday’s incidents were way above our ability.! If you do come up and are a bit on the medical side,and don’t mind helping out as a Good Samaratin IF needed could you identify yourselves to us, just in case??? So we are saying that if you are an experienced boarder or skier, stay at home and watch Netflix . If you want to challenge yourself and play outside and muck around in the snow play and toboggan area, yes you can have fun in the snow. 12.01.2022 Ok guys 3 rd time lucky with this post! Sorry to all our followers and friends, but we have now closed for the 2020 season. Lack of snow and lack of customers means that we have to pull the pin and close. The 2020 season is one to forget, it has been hard with the lack of snow, Covid rearing it’s ugly head , and a few issues for us internally. Hope all this can be worked on, to give you, our lovely customers the best experience on Ben Lomond. ... Thank you for coming up to say hi and have some fun, or those that just wanted a hot coffee and to see the snow. PWS have advised us that they are going to have an opportunity for people to come and view the proposed plan of the Public Day Shelter for Ben Lomond. The plan, model or proposal will be on display at the Evandale War Memorial Hall ( High St or the main road into Evandale) NOT where the Sunday Market is . But only from 3 p.m- 6 p.m,... And only this coming Saturday 20/09/2020. Don’t miss out, can’t moan about it if you don’t tell the design people now, before they start the actual build. This is an opportunity for you to have some input into what is envisaged for Ben Lomond. So, while you are in Evandale, pop into Ingleside Bakery, Clarendon Arms or the Prince of Wales pub, but also just keep a few minutes free to browse in Lake Leather, might be time to start the Chrissie shopping. 12.01.2022 Hi All, Finally had a bit of luck with the snow gods last night, and it snowed quite nicely HOWEVER... today has been really windy, so a fair bit of snow has blown down the mountain. 11.01.2022 Well Snow gods have been working overtime today, wouldn’t believe 2020 could throw more .... at us, but today on Ben Lomond is quite a good cover of snow! We have finished for the year, so there is no cafe, no toboggan or equipment hire, no shuffle bus open. 08.01.2022 Oh a nice day up here in the making. No wind, snowed lightly for the past 24 hours. Bonus !!! We are open, cafe with hot food and drinks, shuffle busses on the go from 10:00. We will only be hiring out toboggans and clothing and boots today. Two reasons: Not quite enough snow cover for boards and skiing . And for some reason that we are not privy to, the Ben Lomond Ski Patrol are not operating??? Why ??? We don’t know who made this call, but can not understand why .... The Ski Patrol which at weekends is run by volunteers. People who give their time freely and at their own expense train as volunteers, to help people that get into situations up here in the snow. So without the back up of having the patrollers here, we feel obliged to limit what we can offer. Flea

08.01.2022 Sun blazing down today. We are open shuffle bus, Cafe, equipment hire. There is still good snow in the snow play toboggan and teaching area, but if it does not snow this week it is not looking like we can operate much longer! So we hope it snows in the next few days, if not ???

07.01.2022 Hi All, Just a quick update, Saturday night, yes it has snowed lightly today, which was so special, because it was not cold, just lovely flakes floating down . The snow has made a bit of difference in the snow cover, but not enough for us to safely say, go out and slide! Especially without any Ski Patrol presence on the mountain. So unless there is a mighty snow drop tonight.... We will only have toboggans, cafe, shuffle busses. ... And a fair bit of ex hire gear for sale. Also new gloves, beanies socks on sale. Will send photos tomorrow. We at Ben Lomond snow sports this week, will be open till Tuesday 25 th August @ 2:00. 07.01.2022 What a great day here on the mountain. We are open for equipment hire boards, skis, snow shoes and my buddies the toboggans. Cafe pumping out great food and hot coffee and hot chocolates . Shuffle busses will be shuffling all day, 3 of the little beauties.... Problems of yesterday were way beyond our control. I mean we are NOT responsible for people who do not fit chains, and use Jacobs Ladder as their personal parking spot to frig around with their chains, only to realise their tyres had developed the dreaded COVID curves and no longer could stretch around the tyres. Not our problem to deal with. We also are not responsible for people who do not have a parks pass. You are at least 5 km inside the ben Lomond National Park at the lower car park, so a pass is a regulation we did not invent. AND no you can’t buy them up here. Online before you arrive is a good idea. We are bound by COVID regulations to limit the amount of people in the building, just like Coles, Woolies, Bunnings and even our local butcher. So we did have to limit people for an hour when we were just so busy! Sorry really sorry if your day was not what we hoped Ben Lomond should be ! Flea

07.01.2022 Bit cold up here today. No snow last night, but still have good cover on the snow play and teaching area, which anyone can use. Shuffle busses will be working on demand today so please give us a call on 0487 140 248, as you leave Lonnie and we will make sure we are down there to get you. Bit of a danger spot up here that I think you might have to be aware.... outside the public loos, as you get up to the top car park, just a huge area of solid ice, really slippery, ideal if you have ice skates, bloody awful if you are in a hurry to get to the loos, just try and walk around as close to the container as possible. 07.01.2022 Well today is a lovely bright sunny day. That is the good news ! Bad or other news is that we will not be open Wednesday Thursday or Friday, back for the weekend. This is our only option for us morally as we can not hire out equipment, knowing that someone may hurt themselves, and no Ski Patrol here to help in this extreme environment. Certainly the snow area is open if you would like to come up with your own toys etc, but be aware you are in your own, if something as easy a...s tripping on the boardwalk, which may cause you to hurt yourself. 02.01.2022 Well we are back on the mountain, ready to open tomorrow. Bloody heck it is cold!!! Unfrozen all the pipes , so coffees and hot chocolates are ready to go! And other cafe food. The conditions are still not great for boarding and skiing, so unless we get a big snow fall tonight, they will not be an option, sorry. But my buddies the toboggans are ready to go! Just be aware it will be cold for little people, and if you are hiring a toboggan, please consider hiring some warm boot...s for them. We are even dropping the prices for kids under size 36, $10 per day. We just see how cold and often painful cold tootsies are! So be aware. Shuffle busses will be operating from 10:00 tomorrow till 3:00. From the lower car park, $20 return per person or $60 for a family of 4. We have EFTPOS and cash all ok. 02.01.2022 So this is from the fantastic BLSP people who have now left, but hard to operate when there is no snow the mountain. Wonder how you could rescue someone on a skido with out the white fluffy stuff on the ground . Maybe smarter people than us can ! Nice and green now, rocks everywhere ready for the summer users, or the local wildlife to cruise about the mountain now. To all the members of BLSP thank you all from us at Snow Sports. You endured a very difficult season, not much snow, Covid and whatever else operationally was put in your way. I think next season all will be better, well honestly could it be worse Flea
