20.01.2022 This is no surprise to those of us who work in the area. But it is an important call to action for more support. If you are struggling, we see you. Please reach out for support via a trusted health professional or Eating Disorders Foundation of Victoria.

17.01.2022 Today is World Eating Disorders ACTION DAY! We've taken the pledge and commit to breaking down the stigma surrounding eating disorders by sharing "The 9 Truths...": Truth #1: Many people with eating disorders look healthy, yet may be extremely ill. Truth #2: Families are not to blame, and can be the patients’ and providers’ best allies in treatment. Truth #3: An eating disorder diagnosis is a health crisis that disrupts personal and family functioning. Truth #4: Eating disorders are not choices, but serious biologically influenced illnesses. Truth #5: Eating disorders affect people of all genders, ages, races, ethnicities, body shapes and weights, sexual orientations, and socioeconomic statuses. Truth #6: Eating disorders carry an increased risk for both suicide and medical complications. Truth #7: Genes and environment play important roles in the development of eating disorders. Truth #8: Genes alone do not predict who will develop eating disorders. Truth #9: Full recovery from an eating disorder is possible. Early detection and intervention are important. #Equity4EatingDisorders #ShowUsYourPurple #WorldEatingDisordersActionDay #WorldEatingDisordersDay #wedad2021

16.01.2022 Seriously though. Breakfast requires food with coffee. Not one without the other.

10.01.2022 Women with #PCOS are more likely to display disordered eating behaviours and eating disorders. Restrictive diets and weight centred care may not be right for you and that is OK.

08.01.2022 Great cover of Cosmopolitan UK showcasing diversity of ability, colour and size

06.01.2022 Today is #wearitpurple for LGBTQIA+ youth . I want to recognise the importance of feeling safe and belonging, especially for young people. This years theme is to ‘start the conversation and keep it going’. By having a chat we can breakdown barriers and stigmas to hopefully make spaces safer and foster a sense of belonging. But, we can also open an opportunity to validate and support. @wear_it_purple have a strong and important message ‘You have the right to be proud of who you are.’ All I can say to that is, abso-freaking-lutely you do.

03.01.2022 Common does not mean normal. Eating exist on a spectrum ( a very nuanced, complex spectrum!) Entering into support to address your own relationship with food an...d body can sometimes mean unlearning and relearning. Seeing cultural norms that have being accepted as true in the past and now exploring and questing them. This can be hard, but persist, food freedom, pleasure from food and time to think about other things are worth it. #nondietdietitian #haesdietitian #weightneutralhealthcare #edrecovery #edwarrior
