21.01.2022 After 6 months of negotiationing the final design we were super excited to start the project. And the results..... In March 2018 the table, weighing 2.5 tonne, left Fremantle Port en route to the Maldives. We would love to say the table arrived safely in the Maldives and the clients were ecstatic with the sheer magnificence of the piece. But.......

18.01.2022 About 4 weeks after the table left Fremantle we received a call from the shipping company explaining that while the table was in Singapore the container had combusted and the table was burnt. They explained that extra goods, including dangerous goods, were packed into the container causing the combustion. Devastated and unable to salvage to table we went back to the drawing board. Finding a suitable log(once again salvaged from a property where it had fallen over and been burnt in a bush fire), milling the log and then finishing the table. This time a bigger, better table which has safely landed in the Maldives.

01.01.2022 In early 2017 BTS were contacted by a design company based in Dubai to build them a large solid table to for a new 5 star hotel being built in the Maldives. The concept was a one off, uniquely characterized, triangular prism shaped solid timber dining table with a story to tell. We searched everywhere for the perfect log and came across an 8 tonne Jarrah log from a local clearing contractor. He had salvaged the log about 10 years prior from a mine site clearing and was destined to be burnt. The tree had been dead for a long time and the contractor to the foresight to see its value. The results...will be in the next post.
