25.01.2022 BEFORE & AFTER. Can anyone spot my one massive oversight on the bottom edited image? My one big boo boo? If anyone can, I will fix it and repost it. If you can’t see it, we’ll I guess it isn’t as big of an oversight as I think. Time to step up fellow photographers and show us your keen eye.
25.01.2022 It’s the little candid moments in between a formal shoot that make for more engaging & natural images. With relaxed communication the couples true personalities will come through in brief moments. Although the purpose was to go out and take posed shots, a good photographer will always look for those in between moments. The advantage of this train of thought means that the photographer can get the light, the background and the camera angle just right by placing the couple where you want. Then wait for the couple to become less self conscious and this will only happen if you engage with the couple and be fully present with them. Then it’s a matter of taking the shot at the precise decisive moment.

24.01.2022 Chantelle and Nathan catching the last rays of golden hour as they stroll through the magnificent grounds of Coolangatta Estate. The only way I could capture this angle was by climbing one of the grapevine poles.
23.01.2022 To all my couples and every couple who were married this year I say a big thank you. To all my couples who had no choice but to postpone but still wanted me along for the ride in late 2020 and 2021, I say thank you. It’s been a hard enough year without organising a wedding but to still do it on top of what everything this year has thrown at us, I take my hat off to you. It just shows love conquers all. I am sure I speak on behalf of every wedding supplier, without mincing ...words, you are all the reason we can survive and do what we love to do. Looking back through the wedding images I have captured this year you wouldn’t know it was a year like no other. These four images were all taken this year and the love shines through as evident as ever. I have used the spare time wisely by delving deep into Photoshop. Learning new techniques which will put me I good stead to take my couples images to the next level in 2021 and beyond. Happy new year. See more
23.01.2022 Mel and Richard @loxleyonbellbirdhill The whole grounds are a photographers paradise. Straight out of a fairy tail and yep I was up another bloody tree #loxleyonbellbirdhill
22.01.2022 7 years in a row. Gotta be happy with that. Thank you to @easyweddings and all my wonderful couples who trusted me to capture their special day. Also to find the time to share their experience by writing honest reviews. So others can make an informed decision when choosing whether to have me as their wedding photographer.
22.01.2022 The advantages of riding in the limo with the bride and groom allowed me to capture Steph and Dean in an intimate candid moment straight after they were married. The relief and joy shines through.
22.01.2022 Which do you prefer for back of car? ( RIGHT IMAGE : Black back ground / White text) (LEFT IMAGE : White background / black text) Side of car is staying as per image.
22.01.2022 Those lights. That chandelier. Lighting up Lauren and Mats big day like there is no tomorrow. The Grounds of Alexandria.
21.01.2022 Sometimes the flash just hits the sweet spot at the precise moment. Lucky I guess But it seems the more I shoot, the luckier I get. Johana and Marco at the spectacular panorama House in Bulli Panorama House Bulli Tops
21.01.2022 Excitement builds. Lauren, one minute before she walks done the isle @thegrounds The Grounds of Alexandria.
21.01.2022 Chandeliers and recycled bricks. What a visual combination. @thegrounds The Grounds of Alexandria.
21.01.2022 BEFORE & AFTER from yesterday’s image of Steph and Deans first dance. The last 5% tweak took 90% of the time to create the final look. Like most things in life. Lol!!!@citybeachweddings
20.01.2022 Unable to have a father daughter dance at the venue due to Covid restrictions. Laith and Caterina have their special dance just before heading to the ceremony.
20.01.2022 Moving out of my comfort zone and trying some alternate treatments to keep it fresh. What’s your thoughts on this treatment? Honest opinion. I have thick skin and don’t take offence. So long as it’s constructive. I find this image sits on the border or reality and fantasy. It’s not something I would want every image to look like but great for a feature image that would hang on the wall. I’m really starting to delve deeper into photoshop and it’s one program where there is always something new to learn.
19.01.2022 Pumped!!! Totally dialled in. Björn the ring bearer is unwaveringly focused on the job at hand.
19.01.2022 Steph and Dean @wollongongbotanicgarden This was a must have image for Steph. Inspired from a similar shot Steph saw of mine from a previous wedding in the exact same spot. I actually prefer this one. Must be getting better
19.01.2022 Even rain shouldn’t stop you getting great wedding photos’. Especially at @colebeecentre in #nurragingyreserve where the is plenty of wet weather photo options.
18.01.2022 The grounds of Alexandria. Rustic, earthy, industrial. Such an awesome place to have your entire wedding. All the shots at Lauren and Mats wedding were taken during the evening. There is not too many venues you can create spectacular imagery solely in the evening.
17.01.2022 Stunning St George Serbian Orthodox Church in Cabramatta.
17.01.2022 Letting go. As a boy she used to be the centre of his universe. Reluctantly mum knows the time has come, for that little boy is now a man. Forging his own path in life.
15.01.2022 Loving the Kombis’ from @klassickombiz Mounisha and Isham chose to get around on their big day.
15.01.2022 Well that didn’t take long to work out the oversight. Yep it was the reflection of the water didn’t match the sky. Well done to @laurentoro on Instagram and Shell on Facebook.
15.01.2022 Your wedding images shouldn't be compromised by a lazy photographer. Going where others won't. www.bnphotography.com.au #aboveandbeyond #whateverittakes

14.01.2022 To all my wonderful past wedding couples. Can you help me bury and unjust GOOGLE review? Let me explain. About 8 years ago a couple left a negative review (review attached) with a really low score, 2 out of 5. Advising people not to trust me as their wedding photographer even though I never shot their wedding. Yes it’s been a while for me to raise this but it’s bugged me all these years.... They had every opportunity to book my services, weeks in fact, as you can see in his Google review and my reply to him, which I have screen shot if you would like to read the back story. I pride myself on offering the best service with the best photography I possibly can. I literally spend two full days getting each wedding to the high standard I set for myself. This review is totally unjust which Google will not remove. I can't even explain my case to Google. Mud sticks and anyone who doesn’t know me may shy away and not even enquire purely due the uncertainty caused by this review which directly effects me to provide for our family. How can a couple advise people whether or not I can be trusted to photograph someones wedding when I never even shot their wedding? As irony would have it, they left another review on another platform saying they liked their portrait photos' I took of them and their family but still gave a low score for reasons explained in the screen shot. Even if I have only shot your portraits. You can still leave a review, as you are rating me as a photographer and my service on the actual day of the shoot along with the communications before and after. To all my couples that have left a Google review or any other platform for that matter, thank you from the bottom of my heart. You are all the reason I can do what I love because reviews do play such a big part in building peoples trust and confidence in businesses. I will be sure to make good on your reviews that you put your own name too by offering exceptional photography and service to all future clients that base a percentage of their decision on your reviews. If you would like to leave a short review on Google, Simply Google Ben Newnam Photography and I am the first to show. I have blacked out the reviewers name and photo for obvious reasons but it’s not hard to find if you want.
13.01.2022 Reminds me a little of the famous photo from JFK Jr and Carolyn Bessette Kennedy’s wedding
13.01.2022 If ever there was an example to show why capture is only half the story. This before and after would be it.
12.01.2022 Milton Park Country House. A wonderland of photo opportunity.
12.01.2022 Time was of the essence. We had about 30 seconds of this magical light before it was gone. I said to Chantelle and Nathan Quick. Run over next to the tree we won’t get that quality light again today. Well worth the brisk walk. @coolangatta_estate
12.01.2022 Not wedding related. Rather a shot of our house being renovated. I am showing it because this shot is inspired by my favourite photographer of all Denis Cherim https://www.instagram.com/denischerim/ The best photographer alive today in my opinion. Whenever I can I try to emulate his style into a few of my wedding shots. But only if the shot jumps out at me as it requires a lot of patience and deliberate focus. Whereas weddings are so fast paced. How Denis maintains that focus... in that zone, always looking for a unique shot is beyond me. I try it on my days off and it’s very mentally draining. From what I can gather this style is achieved a bit like joining a puzzle together. You see something of interest or an element that you know works and then think of all the ways it could be seen differently than normal. Instinctively knowing where the correct angle and composition is. Even at first it looks mundane. Check out Denis’s work and see what I mean. See if you can spot any of his images similar to this. 09.01.2022 Capture is only half the story. Every wedding photographer should know the fundamental principles of taking great wedding images. Sadly not always the case. But a real lack of editing skills is a major reason why so many couples are disappointed with their wedding photos’. The images are okay but just don’t have that edge. ... What you see or envision while photographing doesn’t always come across in the single capture. That’s why a photographer needs the ability to tastefully create a mood or a certain feel, the photographer needs the editing skills to bring their vision to life. Sometimes it’s a subtle natural change while other times you want the image to really have a big impact which often calls for further enhancements to the image. A great photographer instantly knows how they are going to treat an image the moment they press the camera button. For example, the ability to know where to darken or lighten certain parts of an image to guide the viewers eye to where you want them to go. Knowing where to make the image more vibrant to create a particular mood. It’s all a learned skill and just like the capture process is just as an integral part in creating spectacular imagery. Remember you don’t just take an image. You create one.
08.01.2022 Melanie and Luke managed to sneak their wedding in before lockdown. My last wedding until they are allowed to happen again with more than 5 people. Held on the 21st March in the beautiful grounds of Retreat at Wisemans in Wisemans Ferry.
08.01.2022 Ready for the big race on Mount Panorama in Bathurst next year. Designed and installed by the excellent team at Signarama in Erina.
08.01.2022 Such a unique collection of rings that complement each other perfectly. Love the wooden men’s wedding band. Gives it such a warm feel.
07.01.2022 The architecture and colours are just jaw dropping at St George Serbian Orthodox Church in Cabramatta .
07.01.2022 An awesome photography technique if you want to include the subjects face and the surrounding area that the subject is looking at is to use a window. The trick is to get really close to the window and block out the outside reflection that falls on the area where the subject is. Beautifully modelled by Mel. At the same time allow the reflection to be seen in part of the image. In this case the right hand side. The exposure between subject and outside should be pretty similar because a reflection from a window renders the outside darker and the light falling directly on the subject remains pretty much unaffected. Unless the window is tinted then it’s a whole new ball game. If you look really close you can see the makeup artist applying the makeup with a brush. @loxleyonbellbirdhill

02.01.2022 If you are or know someone who has to decide whether to postpone or canel a wedding due to limited indoor number restrictions. Ask the venue if they are able to cater for an outdoor cocktail style wedding where the numbers can be greater. They really do make for beautiful natural imagery and it’s a awesome relaxed atmosphere where people can mingle and really enjoy themsleves for one night during these uncertain times Share if you know anyone getting married.
02.01.2022 My second last wedding before the 5 person limit at weddings were introduced. Held at the fabulous Colebee Centre There was a limit of 100 people indoors so Emilie and Jason decided to have a cocktail style wedding outdoors and Colebee Centre quickly accommodated. What a sensational backdrop the outdoor setting provided. My hats off to all the Staff at Colebee Centre for being able to adjust at such short notice. A true testament to your professionalism.
02.01.2022 BEFORE & AFTER of yesterday’s image. Started by cleaning it up by removing distractions such as the groomsman who threw the veil, seen off to the right in the original. Then remove some orange safety barrier material to the left. Finally clean up the water from little distractions. Then it was a matter of balancing the tones and applying a secret plugin effect.
