25.01.2022 Miss Kazue was teaching the children how they to make sushi. We grated some carrot, cucumber and opened a can of tuna. While the children each had a go at grating the vegetables, we had to cool down the rice. Firstly we put in the 2 table spoons of sugar and 1 tablespoon of rice vinegar. We divided the children into a group of 2, to make sure everyone had a go at grating, mixing and to practice doing their sushi under supervision from Miss Kazue. Everyone did really well at p...utting their ingredients onto their seaweed but rolling the seaweed with the sushi mat took a bit of practicing. Only a few children who have made sushi were able to do most of their sushi roll by themselves and also help other children with theirs. When both the groups had finished making their sushi, we had the option of sitting down inside at the table or on the mats outside to eat our delicious sushi rolls See more

23.01.2022 We have had a wonderful day celebrating Children’s Week and Halloween. We started our day with dancing outside, it was such great fun watching the children dance around and giggle. When we come inside, the children enjoyed Halloween themed art activities including cutting, making pumpkin masks, numeracy and construction.... After our morning activities, we headed outside to do our Naidoc concert practice. The children are really getting the hang of the songs and actions we can’t wait to show off to those who can attend in two weeks time. This afternoon, we will do quiet activities after rest time and do our concert practice for graduation always busy in our pre-prep room!

23.01.2022 This morning Mr Rodd visited our room to teach us how to play tennis. We hold our racquets with two hands and watch the ball closely. When the ball comes close we push our racquets through the path of the ball. We feel a sense of accomplishment when we hit the ball. While the tennis lesson was happening some of us played a game of basketball. We used a blackboard to keep track of how many goals we scored. We love counting. Eli rode his bicycle to Kindy today with his Mum. Eli proudly told us all about his bike. He showed us the wheels, brakes and the bell.

19.01.2022 Our friends have had a great morning. Harper came in with her two Halloween pumpkin buckets and also had a cute dress on, I'm a pumpkin she said. She shared one of her buckets with her friend Caitlin and together, our friends went for a walk around the yard. Later, we were so excited to see Maeve arrived and welcomed her warmly. Maeve was wearing a spider dress which was matching to her cousin Harper. Caitlin wanted to be a witch, Oakleigh was a police man, William was super... hero, Leonardo wanted to be super man, Oskar was wearing his spider man outfit and a mask, Scarlett was a princess, Blue wanted to be a bus driver, Hayden was super man. Our friends had fun with role play in home area, cooking with play food, looking after the baby dolls and dancing. At our yarning time, we revising our days of the weeks. We explored different insects in the nature's book as we have seen some insects in the garden this morning. We also sang a felt-board song of five little pumpkins. Our friends enjoyed participating in spider face painting and did such a great job by sitting patiently during this painting experience and following direction. We all have had a wonderful day.

16.01.2022 Today in the Chungarra Room we explored the alphabet. To support our emergent literacy we are beginning to understand that our thoughts, ideas, and feelings can be written down. We are playing around with the idea that symbols are a powerful means of communication. Becoming familiar with letter symbols and the sounds that they make are a part of this important process. We played a game of musical alphabet. When the music played we danced around the circle, when the music stopped we picked up the closest letter flash card. We had a look at each letter and some of the words that can be made using that letter. When we had finished playing musical alphabet we used some letter shapes to do stamping. This interaction lets us explore concepts of print such as the left-to-right orientation of printed text.

11.01.2022 We love this house which we made this Monday. "Hello welcome to my house." Skye came out from a house with a big smile. We will leave this house in our room and continue role play. Before we went outside Jack noticed Miss Maria was putting some pillows away. Jack decided to help her. He lifted it up then dropped it on the mat. "Haha, is it a bit heavy for you?" He lifted it again and took two steps. "Nice try Jack. Thank you Miss Kazue can finish it for you." At outside Zaa...ron found a bowl and put it on his ear then started talking. "Who are you talking to? Is it your mum on the phone?" He walked around with this bowl and kept talking. Jack and Yi-chen were sitting on the deck together and doing something. "Boo! What are you guys doing?" Yi-chen was tearing a leaf and Jack was trying to taste it. "I don't think it tastes good..." To extend on their interest in leaves we can go to next yard to look for some herbs. There are some parsley and rosemary in the garden. After group time we walked to the yard and looked for some herbs. "Would you like to smell it?" Halo and Jack put their nose close to Rosemary. But they both blowed their nose. Haha. Zaaron started collecting some parsley in a bowl and Ellie put a bowl on the table and enjoyed looking at some herbs. She shared one bowl with Halo. "That's very nice Ellie." Skye was trying to pick a flower with looking at Miss Kazue. "Is it ok?",,,,"I know it's pretty but if you pick it, the flower doesn't last long. So let's pick only herbs." Skye collected some of them and put them in Miss Kazue's bowl. "Thank you Skye." See more

09.01.2022 The ASC children were given an opportunity to make nachos again. time. We used nacho chips, one large onion, sour cream, and lots of cheese. They all had a go at cutting the onion, stirring the mince and making their nachos in their own containers. The children were satisfied once they had finished eating all their nachos

07.01.2022 Tuesday we had an Aboriginal Naidoc Show. The children enjoyed learning about the paint made from the rock "goppi." They enjoyed watching the rocks being crushed up to make a type of paint we can use on our skin. Anahera, Henry and Lili volunteered to help with this process. We then enjoyed being painted as females or males and then danced to represent different animals. We learnt about the didgeridoo! We also had some rhythm and beat with the clap sticks! We learnt about Aus...tralian animals and also felt a kangaroo skin that was used as a blanket or jumper. We all had lots of fun!

02.01.2022 We were all very excited to kick off the final Bush Kindy term. Today, we went to our new location, Evandale Park and it was a massive hit for all. We enjoyed climbing up the big rock steps to be rewarded with a beautiful view of Surfers Paradise. Then, we had a little morning tea where the children requested to climb the trees close by - excellent idea! After, we made our way to the purple rock where the children climbed inside it and felt very clever. Finally, we walked aro...und to admire some of the sculptures and introduce the rules of looking at sculptures (no climbing etc). It was the most wonderful morning! See more

01.01.2022 We had Miss Lynne join our arts and crafts today to demonstrate how to paint our moon crest using art techniques with acrylic paint and paint brushes. The children showed they had some skills using their paint brushes to make their picture unique and colourful. Miss Lynne made this session more straight forward and simple so that children under 5 years (Audrey)were able to keep up. Every child demonstrated their skills well, listening and following step by step instructions.
