In fact, you don't even have to leave home, making it the ultimate Covid-safe activity! To take part all you need is 20 minutes and your favourite outdoor space. Not only will you be contributing to BirdLife Australia's knowledge of Aussie birds, but there are also some great prizes on offer. 17.01.2022 On the 27th & 28th of August, the children at Benowa Hills Early Learning took part in Book Character Dress Up week. This week was originally planned as part of the Children's Book Council of Australia Book Week, however this has been postponed until October due to the current Covid- 19 situation. As there had been much discussion within our classrooms about the children's favourite stories and the different costumes the children were going to wear, the educators responded ...to the children's interest in learning about the different book characters by holding an event for the children to enjoy. Dress-up play encourages interaction and communication with others. It often becomes cooperative as children interact and communicate about what their doing. Role playing encourages teamwork and an interest in other children and what theyre thinking and doing. Children learn to negotiate in this way, to collaborate, take turns, and create and play by the rules. There is also research that has linked role play to empathy; kids who engaged in it were more skilled in judging how other people might feel than those who didnt role play as much.

16.01.2022 Our Kindergarten children have officially joined the Rainbow Trail Australia adventure and have been busy chalk drawing on the pavement using a rainbow of colours! Rainbow Trail Australia began with the aim to spread hope and positivity, as well as giving children something to look out for on their daily walks by encouraging citizens to draw a rainbow and stick it in their window! Miss Kate has been discussing the Rainbow Trail with the children and they decided to ext...end on this by drawing a variety of pictures on the pavement in the Kindergarten yard. We would love to encourage our families to continue this at home and create pictures of rainbows to stick in their windows to brighten their neighbour's day - show us how you go by posting below! We also challenge our sister centres Riversdale Early Learning Centre Oxenford and Benowa Hills Early Learning Centre to join the rainbow trail Rainbow Trail Australia #stayenrolled #stayconnected #belc #benowaearlylearning #kinidergarten #rainbows #rainbowtrailaus #earlychildhood #childcare #earlylearning #missyou #rainbowsarethebest

14.01.2022 HEALTH ALERT: Do you have backyard chooks? Queensland Health is investigating an outbreak of Salmonella, among mostly young children, that has been linked to c...ontact with backyard chickens. Report on 7NEWS at 4pm & 6pm. Statement: Queensland Health is investigating an outbreak of Salmonella Typhimurium infections predominantly among young children that has been linked to contact with backyard poultry. As at 26 June there had been 17 cases reported across the state. Thirteen of these were in children aged 11 years or younger. Five children were hospitalised for their illness. The large majority of cases have reported handling chicks that were purchased in the two-week period prior to their illness. These chicks have been obtained from a range of produce and pet stores in Queensland. The investigation into the supplier of chicks to these stores is ongoing. Backyard poultry can harbour and shed Salmonella that cause illness in humans, even though the birds are healthy and clean. The public health advice for owners of backyard poultry include: Always wash your hands with soap and running water immediately after touching backyard poultry, their eggs, their enclosures, or anything in the area where they live and roam. Use hand sanitiser if soap and water are not readily available. Adults should always supervise children around poultry and ensure they wash their hands afterwards. Do not let children snuggle or kiss the birds, touch their mouth, or eat or drink around poultry. Do not let poultry inside the house. Most people infected with Salmonella develop diarrhoea, fever and stomach cramps 6 to 72 hours after being exposed to the bacteria. The illness usually lasts 4 to 7 days and most people recover without treatment. Children younger than 5 years, adults 65 and older and people with weakened immune systems may develop a more severe illness. More: https://7news.link/2YQuBFR #7NEWS

11.01.2022 ***POST UPDATED*** Follow the signals to get an update on your Child Care Subsidy balancing. You can keep track of your CCS balancing online or in the Express P...lus Centrelink mobile app. If you are using the app - select More, followed by Child Care then Payment Balancing from the menu. Or when using your Centrelink online account through myGov, select Menu, followed by my family, then Child Care. From there youll be able to select Payment Balancing for more information. If we think we paid you too much, we wont finalise balancing your payments straight away. This is because weve paused a range of debt activities due to the coronavirus pandemic. Your balancing status may appear as pending. IMPORTANT UPDATE: All families will see their CCS balancing as in progress, or pending, until we've finished balancing their subsidy. This is regardless of the outcome. If we've got all the information we need to balance your CCS, there's nothing else you need to do. We'll balance your subsidy and write to you with your outcome as quickly as possible.
10.01.2022 10 days in.... and it's 'Joyful June!' We love the little one on; rediscovering a fun childhood activity, this can be so very simply. Miss Kylie & Miss Nads used to love 'snapping' Snap Dragon flowers in our Pop's garden, we bought some the other week and gave this a go again....little things bring lots of joy & are wonderful family traditions to pass down to your children. And little did we know at the time - we were building those fine-motor skills in our fingers. Perhaps we should take it one step further and grow them ourselves just like our Pop did! https://youtu.be/kkDUB753j_E
10.01.2022 As we're seeing more and more restrictions lifted in the wider community, we are asking all our families to 'Help Stop the Spread' . With your support and help we've done a great job so far in keeping our beautiful children safe & well - let's keep going

These gifts will to go to children and families who are less fortunate then ourselves so that they too can enjoy the Christmas season. Elaine from Rotary was very appreciative of the effort shown from all our families and is always very humbled by our generosity.
