25.01.2022 Contrasting moths at Ben Ricketts.

25.01.2022 Afternoon walks. The mountain is closed from us, so no access to Barren Grounds, the mountain is more peaceful then ever. We were lucky to enjoy the rare walk along the road.

24.01.2022 Our first AGM via Zoom yesterday, with some onsite attendees, appropriately distanced in the Peter Page communal area. New signage too.....

23.01.2022 From the grandest views to the smallest mosses, there's so much to explore at Ben Ricketts. And our cabins are filling up! Contact us now at [email protected] to arrange your stay.

21.01.2022 SPRING is here. The birds are singing, the bees are buzzing (photo 5) and the flowers are blooming. We can't wait to see you all soon. Bookings are filling up quickly, contact us now to avoid disappointment.

21.01.2022 We have new signage, thanks to Stephen Gye (BREP board member & shareholder) for organising the signs (Simpson signs, Kiama), and Matt Corcoran for installing the signs pronto. Now our guests know what’s what.

19.01.2022 Visit to Minnamurra Rainforest, which we haven’t visited for 15 years. Very few visitors in the late afternoon. Quiet and beautiful. Lots of lyrebirds and treeferns. Worth a visit if you haven’t been for a while.

18.01.2022 Listen to - and watch - this amazing close-up recording of a lyre bird. I’ve never seen anything like it.

17.01.2022 SPRING is in the air Our beautiful NEW curtains made by a lovely local Jamberoo Lady, make our cabins just that little EXTRA. We can't WAIT to see you ALL soon.

17.01.2022 A walk today with Karlo in the Barren Grounds. The Barren Grounds are anything but barren. Here are some photos of forked sundews (drosera binata). Some having meals. Fascinating to look at the delicate sticky tendrils which fold over their prey.

16.01.2022 LÉTAPE AAUSTRALIA has been postponed until March 2021. Register now to avoid missing out. And why not enjoy the sights and stay apart of the action and watch the bikes go by here on the Mountain. Book NOW!! Limited spots available. https://www.facebook.com/watch/

16.01.2022 Wanna see how wombats have fun...?

15.01.2022 Hello to all our friends We need to follow the government's advice to cancel non-essential travel, we've made the call to close to guests for the time being. We here at Ben Ricketts will be closed until the end of May 2020 and will hopefully start taking bookings again from June 1st, depending on the ongoing situation of Covid19. ... We are now in the process of contacting all guests and ask them to postpone their visit with us until June or there for after when it best suits them. We wish that all our friends and guests stay healthy and happy over the next few months. Stay safe and we hope that you can all come and get some beautiful fresh mountain air here at Ben Ricketts in the near future. We look forward to seeing you all soon, The Ben Ricketts Community.

15.01.2022 Happy Monday!! We are Open!! Another beautiful morning here on the mountain.

14.01.2022 The mountain is OPEN!! We can now access Barren Grounds and surrounding areas. Come and say hi these summer holidays.

14.01.2022 Cabin repairs completed during our recent BREP working bee. Hole in the ceiling of Cabin 1 (Wombat) causes most likely by a native animal has now been repaired by magician, carpenter and shareholder extraordinaire, Peter Crozier. Thanks Pete.

13.01.2022 Day 1 of our vacation at Ben Ricketts, Jamberoo. We are here till 24 Jan. Lovely thought. Lots of rain and mist. Logfire ( yes ....even in summer...). Walks in between the rain along Misty Lane, where we see lyrebirds, wombats ( at sunset), echidnas occasionally and many kangaroos. Picking fresh herbs and veg from the community garden. Karl gets to massage one of the two sheep and cook me lovely meals. We needed a holiday, and this is a great place for rejuvenation.

12.01.2022 Open and more beautiful then ever..... Contact us now for that winter escape.

12.01.2022 Hello to all our friends. We are still currently closed and at this stage are not taking any bookings until we re-open, unfortunately we are unsure when that will be at this stage. 11.01.2022 We saw four wombats on one sunset walk along Misty Lane between 4.30-5.30pm. Here is one of these big guys.

11.01.2022 Listen to - and watch - this amazing close-up recording of a lure bird. I’ve never seen anything like it.

09.01.2022 The mountain is wet and cold but the forecast is clear from next week. Why not come and have a stay in our cozy cabins. All bookings via email: [email protected]

08.01.2022 Look at his little legs go..... sometimes our LITTLE neighbor's get their legs moving like this, normally to move to the greener pastures.

07.01.2022 NEW heater for one of our cabins. A wee bit cold here so will be getting a work out I'm sure before winter hits again.

07.01.2022 Here's something a little bit special. One of our creeks flowing merrily last weekend. They have been a bit quiet recently so to see the cascades running like this was a real thrill. Enjoy.

05.01.2022 Our little visitor this morning.

03.01.2022 A productive weekend at BREP with multiple jobs completed. More work this morning prior to AGM at midday.

02.01.2022 The Jamberoo Mountain Road remains closed between BREP and Barren Grounds Nature Reserve. However the walk up the road between the barriers is lovely without cars and motor bikes. The walk up to Barren Grounds entrance took us 20 mins today - a great training walk- returning via the BREP forest walk.

01.01.2022 We have had a lovely 4 days at BREP, enjoying dinner with friends, walks along Misty Lane and up on Barren Grounds, time in the garden, and cosy evenings around the fire. Cabins 2 and 3 are heavily booked through July, Aug and Sept, but there are some vacancies, and social distancing is easy in the great outdoors.
