22.01.2022 Eclectus Parrot chick just hatched. It all starts again. I have to say that I am loving my new Inca 200 incubator, fully imported from Israel and one of the top incubators on the market in the world. 100% hatch rate on every viable egg I have put in it so far. Much better results than my previous incubators.
21.01.2022 .......and just when you thought you could return to some more normal sleep patterns with 2 hourly feed intervals.......the last of the 4 Quaker chicks hatched this afternoon in the incubator. 4 chicks from the 4 eggs I had to take when my hen bird injured herself and had to have a course of antibiotics. Not ideal to be handraising something quite this small but the 3 previous chicks are all doing really well. Just takes hourly feeds, correct temperature and a VERY steady hand and thank god for spec savers!
14.01.2022 Update on the Jenday Conure chick now 12 days old and growing like a weed. The rate of development of these chicks is incredible and means I can now have at least a 3 hour block of sleep between feeds. Such a vigorous little chap.
07.01.2022 Day 1 for the newly hatched Eclectus Parrot chick. First feed taken very well. A very strong, vibrant chick. The 16 weeks of handraising to weaning age begins.
